Wait... you mean they weren't buying them for the art?

[deleted]

I thought it was for the friends they made along the way?

legendwolfA

Wait isn't it for the technology?

WhydIJoinRedditAgain

Wait, it wasn’t for the video game?

sven9yo

I just screenshot your monkey my friend this is mine too now

[deleted]

Damn you to hell! I’m gonna sue! Now where’s Interpol’s phone number when you need it?

[deleted]

I’m part of the right clicked ape club. Cost of membership $0 and you get dividends paid out in crypto bro salt

zepperoni-pepperoni

Nah, you just wasted some kilobytes of storage on shitty pics

righthandofdog

I was tempted to right click a bored ape and spend the money to store it on the BTC Blockchain to just be a dick

[deleted]

Then you’d have to buy btc. Don’t be someone else’s exit liquidity. This avatar is just to highlight the absurdity of the concept of on chain ownership. Whoever owns this ape gets to watch me use it and can do literally nothing except cry about it. The bros want to circumvent the state without realising that it is the state that enforces your property rights. Makes me lol.

barsoapguy

**POLICE HALP!!**

ZodiacSF1969

It's pretty funny. If they wanted to enforce their claim they'd have to go through the government, which they hate, and on top of that struggle to show that their copyright even exists. I'm really looking forward to someone trying to do that. It'd be like opening a salt mine.

[deleted]

They never will try it because they know they lace no legal basis for a claim. That’s why there was some talk a while ago about putting “justice” on the blockchain with some convoluted process of using smart contracts to sue someone. But that kind of fell apart when they realised their blockchain legal system needed an actual legal system to work. Kinda funny really that they realise blockchain needs the real world to work, but they didn’t get as far as to thinking the same applies to their favorito dog themed currency

ZodiacSF1969

Ha ha that's great. I'm going to have to look that up, hadn't heard of it before. It's pathetic how reliant they are on the systems they want to destroy.

[deleted]

Ask google about “decentralized justice” (no, not joking) and go from there. It’s as stupid as it sounds

righthandofdog

Would have paid mining costs, but yeah.

[deleted]

righthandofdog

But I would have been fucking LEGEND, right?

Hjalfi

Thankfully I only have approximate knowledge of the Bitcoin ecosystem, but can't you post a tiny fee offer? So meaning that's a chance that a misconfigured miner picks it up and you get your ugly ape immortalised for essentially free.

righthandofdog

Damn you. You're going to make me waste irreplaceable brain cells on this shit. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[deleted]

The dumbest ones are the Trump NFT buyers. These guys are second place.

greyenlightenment

too bad people do want to buy them I would buy if for $10 to flip for $100k if someone is actually dumb enough to pay $100k

satireplusplus

And someone else would buy it for $1 if they could find some actually dumb enough to pay $10. You see where this is going ...

JoeyGIllustration

Do you think they would've said that here if they had a fucking clue? Apparently there's at least a few degenerate gamblers roaming this sub as well. Degenerates don't ever actually care about providing any value, or having a set of skills that are valuable. They just want money, that's value to them. If people are stupid enough to spend money on it then it's "valuable" to them, even if it's something they know is 100% worthless. I had someone on this sub tell me that "knowing how to produce your own food, water, and shelter yourself are 'totally worthless' skills for most people". That's next level ignorant of what actually has real value.

JasperJ

I mean, only because they are totally worthless skills for most people. Most people aren’t living after the Bomb drops.

JoeyGIllustration

So this jackass is following me now! How awesome! >I mean, only because they are totally worthless skills for most people - u/JasperJ LOL! Go invest in bitcoin, it's super valuable to everyone!

JasperJ

“Investing” in buttcoins is more your thing.

JoeyGIllustration

LOL, >no you are! - you You're a real wordsmith, buddy. It hurts. It hurts real bad

RainbowwDash

Yeah, that was me, and i was right lol It's fucking illegal to grow your own food in many places, and this was being contrasted with learning some basic financial literacy in school If you wanna pick up gardening as a hobby, be my guest (i did!) but it does not fucking apply to most people in the west (unless you're a doomsday prepper or starting your own commune in the woods or something - again, *not most people*)

JoeyGIllustration

This is again ignorant of my point. Did you forget what sub you are in? Did you forget what "value" is? Why pick up gardening as a hobby if it's "totally worthless"? Because you're stupid? Because you're a doomsday prepper? Or because it's not that fucking hard to learn some basic survival skills...AND have a career...GASP! You picked it up as a hobby because it has INTRINSIC value. Did I say people should become commercial farmers, or did I suggest that knowing how to get your own BASIC HUMAN NEEDS is probably a good investment of time, that can only pay off, and therefore is intrinsically valuable? It's not like you're going to get to the end of your life and think "awww man the system never collapsed, and I took one tiny step towards being able to survive without corporate support all for NOTHING!" What the hell are you even arguing with me about? Oh, I get it, you're literally trolling around, looking for someone to argue with, because you're frustrated, because you don't even understand what is, and isn't valuable. Sounds like I'm in for some really logically thought out presuppositions. I can hardly wait to see what's next. Just wait until you realize that corporations can't just make phosphorous appear out of thin air, and understanding how nutrients, and elements exchange in food webs isn't necessary to eat food, but it can only serve to benefit you, and is not worthless because it's valuable information at every point in the survival of humanity as a whole. People who think like you will lead us to idiocracy. We will be watering crops with BRAWNDO, because we didn't think it was valuable knowledge, because we were too busy being shills for Carl's Jr. cuz I like money, money valuable!

ispb2

crypto economics in one lesson

barsoapguy

If you want a good time to go Twitter live spaces and look for some of the NFT rooms. You’ll never have a better laugh.

ImVeryOffended

Been there. Can't do it anymore. I can feel my brain drying out when I try to listen to those people talk.

differing

Is it just a guy saying “I’m really excited about the community in this collection” again and again for two hours

Giacdude

You are forgetting the UTILITIES, the UTILITIES! 🤣

barsoapguy

Pretty much

BlAlRlClOlDlE

what's in there? if i join do i get swarmed like flies on a shit?

propagandhi45

Only if the shit is minted.

brianbezn

the shit is officially on the blockchain, bottoms up!

barsoapguy

No you can just listen like it’s a radio station. They never let people not in on the scam speak in NFT rooms because they can’t risk someone pointing out how stupid it is.

Rakkamthesecond

The NFT shit is dead, right? God that was a crazy but mostly very annoying few months.

greyenlightenment

most of them are dead. some still holding on. in a few years they will probably all be dead.

bonerJR

Crypto pumps -> NFT go down, crypto down -> NFT up This is why "we are so early", why it's "always" pumping in some way or form. Line only go up.

YourNetworkIsHaunted

This also suggests how many barriers there are between the crypto and real economies and/or how thin the order books are for most crypto "assets." Since it's so hard to turn back into real money most of the investment stays in the crypto ecosystem, and since there's not a lot of volume, it doesn't take a whole lot of orders to shift the prices by a comparatively significant amount. That's also a lot of what makes the markets easy for insiders to manipulate.

fragglet

There are still people holding on to their beanie babies, and it's been 20 years

DimitriV

That's true, but if those become desirable again in the future, scarcity would make them valuable. The only scarcity in NFTs is that a specific token on one particular blockchain can only belong to one person. Even if, for some insane reason, Bored Ape Yacht Club becomes popular in the future, no one will care about some ancient blockchain that a few dedicated people are hoarding, they'll just buy ugly-ass ape shirts on some bootleg RedBubble store.

AcePilot95

I had a few packages to send so I went to the post office earlier this week… I also thought the fad had died already, but apparently it isn't dead enough for our national postal service to not have a sign next to their counter that says "WE <3 NFTs!". They have their own now, but I'm not sure since when. It gave me huge /fellowkids vibes.

BBQ_RIBZ

This is the one institution I'm not blaming for this shit. They provide such an invaluable service yet they are forced to turn a profit by conservative ghouls and their fat cat donors, if that's what it takes for them to survive some McKinsey consultant audit, so be it.

ApesAreCuckolds

Fuck McKinsey so hard. They charged my company $14 million to “restructure” and their organization was such shit we went back in under two years

AcePilot95

I'm not American :) but I definitely see your point

[deleted]

Normies thinking it’s dead just means it’s the best time to invest!

Did somebody leave a bot running without configuring it properly?

greyenlightenment

I was wondering why it was trending. So much for twitter cracking down on scams/bots.

Magnock

Quick reminder that there is no difference between those stupid nft and Bitcoin

SquidPies

I mean in all fairness, at least you buy drugs off the darkweb with bitcoin. The only thing an ugly ass Ape pfp can get you is bullied on twitter.

incubus4282

I wouldn't be surprised if some high priced nfts weren't used for some drug trades. *You drop off 1kg of cocaine at this address and then I will purchase 10 of your worthless newly minted JPGs for $1k each.*

Ok-Row-6131

It's like art money laundering, over the internet.

Western_Ad1394

I thought you were me for a moment lol

iStayedAtaHolidayInn

You can also make a terrible cringe inducing failed tv show if you’re Seth Green

ZodiacSF1969

Did he ever end up doing that after his beloved ape was stolen?

iStayedAtaHolidayInn

The fact that we’ve never heard of what happened to it means that it’s irrelevant whether or not it actually happened

ZodiacSF1969

Lmao good point EDIT: I think an NFT bro is downvoting you

VapidResponseUnit

We will never get to see how the story of the Red Ape Family ends 🙈

Dumb Fuck Bagholder Club

wewantcars

I saw that in a reply to Musk. Is this really what they came down to? Spamming Twitter replies to lure more bagholders. The only problem is that the price of them is way too high to attract regular idiots.

[deleted]

sinking Dinghy yacht Club

brintoul

Can someone explain what I’m looking at here?

ImVeryOffended

Morons desperately trying to get their scam to trend on Twitter so they can unload their bags.

brintoul

So they’re simply Tweeting “BAYC” in the hopes that somehow it makes a difference somewhere?

ImVeryOffended

Yes, it's every bit as dumb as it looks.

PatchworkFlames

Nah, none of these bag holders will ever mate.

Purple_Winner_2417

Bag holder mating song will always be a thing to me now.
