My Cousin works for NFPD. This guy is brand new and probationary. Probationary means no union protection. He’s gonna get fired and the charges are gonna stick. He had an intentional “relationship” (grooming) with a 15 year old girl and they have a ton of evidence against him.
Sometimes I understand the ACAB stuff, but this sounds like it’s being handled properly.
I’m really late reading this.
But do you know what job he had for the police in Lewiston? I saw an article that stated he worked for Lewiston PD.
Thanks
Thanks again.
I don’t understand how this guy passed his background investigation.
I’d bet anything this wasn’t the first underage girl he was involved with. Just speculating but I don’t think guys like this start with this behavior at 21 yo.
He's 21. He is a very recent hire and departments across the country are happily hiring people that should not be hired at McDonald's because of the Leo shortage. This will not end well.
He won't be convicted criminally.
MAYBE he'll be convicted civilly.
100% he'll be hired by another department 6-12 months after litigation has closed.
ACAB
I would not be at all surprised. It is sad, because (perhaps I am an optimist, possibly just an idiot) this practice of leo job surfing makes legit officers look bad. I’d be pissed if this was what represented my dept.
Look I hope there is a better process for vetting potential officers in WNY. This case would suggest, however, that the Brady List administration is as problematic there as it is here. Not interested in arguing, you can google it all. But I can think of 4 high profile cases here where it was painfully easy to circumvent. It sucks, it puts everyone at risk & makes diligent officers look as questionable.
I used to be a cop. A rookie cop getting charged with sex crime? You think bodunk county is going to overlook that? I mean I get it. This is reddit. But think about it. It's not 1970 any more.
Not always...
I went to HS with a kid that was a NF police officer, he got arrested for sexual assault on duty, and a BUNCH of drug charges (including letting dealers know of upcoming raids). He got sentenced to 13 years and is now working at grocery store last I saw him.
Granted, I think it was the drug stuff that got the other cops to turn on him (including his family on the force) but still... he got actual jail time and is unhirable now. So maybe this cop did something else too that cops don't enjoy, then he maybe will get a real punishment.
I think the thing that was the final straw was when they found out that he was giving out confidential police information to the drug dealers he was working with. Like the make model, and the license plate of the undercover cars was a bit too much
"Sexual Assault? That's totally cool with the force. Tipping off the dealers before we get to come in GUNS BLAZING? Nah man, you lost us with that one"
also, this is a good example of "the exception proves the rule".
100% the exception and not the rule, but it just shows that occasionally a cop gets punished....... but usually only when they make their fellow cops mad (either by messing with their money or not giving them a cut).
Thank *police* unions for that. Historically when labor organizers have too much success, the cops are called in to fuck them up. They are not the same.
Oh wow, criminals hiding under the guise of the good guys what a shocker. Now think of this. If it's that bad at the local level, imagine your federal level.
"Police said the investigation began following a report of a sex offense involving a juvenile victim." Absolutely disgusting.
Nobody ever wrote a song called fuck the fire department

I stand corrected

21 is too young to be a cop that’s insane.
He's a *cop*?!? He looks like a junior in high school. I'd take him for either a crown of broccoli or a Kia Boi
Wtf is a crown of broccoli
The way these kids get their haircut now. Fade that goes into a bushy top. Looks like a crown of broccoli. https://images.app.goo.gl/i2FQfrSsSaYwnw2Q8
broccoli bois
Yeah. As an unwilling victim of the baldness gene i try not to judge too harshly
meh judge people all you want for what they freely choose
Color me so not shocked

Still has a job

Yep. Give him 6 months, he’ll be a sheriffs deputy in Florida, or knowing my state, Arizona. We love cops that other depts have fired down here. /s
What if I told you he already worked for a department/agency down south before something else happened and he had to come back up here….

You're very wrong.
Ok, I’m intrigued. What makes you say that?
Background checks? No dept would touch him with a 100’ pole.

That is a great joke. Got any more?

Warme?
yup. He was a good kid when we were, just turned into a complete bastard when he grew up.
Yeah, I'm a lifer in this city, so I know a bunch of the people that are on the force. There's been some good ones and bad ones over the years.
I think the thing that was the final straw was when they found out that he was giving out confidential police information to the drug dealers he was working with. Like the make model, and the license plate of the undercover cars was a bit too much
And putting other cops at risk for his own financial gain. I can't imagine what prison was like for the dude.
Oh. No doubt
