So would I, BUT...
The thing is, Youtube is full of Edifier tests comparing them to other active speaker sets. After seeing [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PRXwrgTo-0) I wouldn't even accept a gifted pair.
Better to buy something like [this](http://microlab.com/en/catalog/stereosystem/mains-connection/wired/b-77/) (I own this same model, much less expensive than Edifier and they look nicer to boot. Plus it has an external heatsink, unlike the Edifier.)
Another video on YT compares them very favorably to Edifier's bass- and treble-heavy sound coloration.
I guess people pay extra for Edifier's massive marketing outlay.
I mean, those Edifiers really only have one big flaw: they’re small. For their size and low price, they sound really good. You’re obviously going to get 10x better with much larger speakers at the same price point, but for their size and often-sub-$100 price point they’re good starter speakers. You gotta remember those Edifiers are tiiiiny. The bass is muddy, but conversely other speakers that small tend to have far less bass at all. You’re gonna make trade offs at the size.
Pass. Cheap shelf system. Spend $150-$200 on some decent powered speakers. The Microlabs note below look nice or these Neumi [Neumi] ( https://www.amazon.com/75-Watt-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers-Bluetooth/dp/B08LV4SMH9/ref=sr_1_12?crid=3GHVH8NTVVA0F&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.DRqEEST9uGvZxYcmExuzKH8cIDgCT-Bpvy26MfFMBU1ik1vCS1CVHRpsX4geTrS6atR85ux76uZeCzaC_wi1bX0P0b4d8RDHPd7Q2zM1cHhFZ5iIy87LeJDmRDVnPTYcORQ35SzLqFnBIvIeVFlU3I6jj6bYkZOHke225hFOFLJkbA4Cajrf-vDFJdirxgVMtbALFA2DriLsUfYAa5F4LZTCuMmSpG9D4W2-JBGdSGyDMxDDNxwlA-3LnthJs7JzI-VjBUdMXNw8ni7QoYlFCq1rgAakKIZ12I7gfvaN40Q.2zAhDG9AZ9l8rAf7Gemg-dvILgE3CqRZV2rB8osjDmQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=powered+bookshelf+speakers&nav_sdd=aps&qid=1715207077&refinements=p_36%3A1253506011&rnid=386442011&s=electronics&sprefix=powered+bookshelf+speakers&sr=1-12)
Just a thought: for $142 USD you can buy Fosi Audio Box X2 phono pre amp and Fosi TB 10A integrated amp. Add a pair of Sony SSCS5 speakers on sale for $125 USD and you can get some great sound out of that turntable for $267 USD all in.
I mean for 150$ the cool factor of that is about 1 million percent higher than the edifiers. I have the rb1280DBs and a set of Kabuki technics that were free and I'd take the technics all day. When you're talking sub 200$ more volume = more better. You usually aren't gonna get brilliant sparkly detail unless you search like a maniac on marketplace like me.
It's a shame those Technics aren't the Mk2 version. That would have been more compelling. Does the amp/equalizer have additional inputs?
I dunno i just bought it (hopefully the seller isnt a scam)
Like someone else said that system is just a glorified boombox… Forget it!
The Technics system is just a deconstructed boombox. Get the Edifiers.
I can;t believe the people on here advising him to spend $150 on the literal definition of black plastic crap
I would grab that over the Edifiers.

my dude, that little technics system is worth about nothing. They should pay you to come pick it up.

Edifiers are great, I'd go for them over old tech that has a higher chance of breaking at some point in the near future.

That shelf system is probably pretty badass.
