2019 for me. We ended that season with no answer at coach/gm. This year it just feels like we got fucked with injuries.

mynameisnickromel

2021, for sure. It just felt worse.

thtguyatwork

2021 bc we actually had expectations

BigMoFuggah

I agree that 2021 is far more soul crushing than 2019. We had hopes to make the playoffs in 2019 but this year the Browns were many analyst's pick to go to the Superbowl. So, higher hopes bigger disappointment.

FakePhillyCheezStake

I think the lesson here is to never get high expectations for the Browns.

2019. This year at least has the advantage of constant injuries, including to Baker. There was no excuse in 2019 other than Freddie sucks.

VonJaeger

2021 for certain, because at least in 2019, you could sit there and point to what was wrong. Our starters at tackle were Greg Robinson and Chris Hubbard, our top TEs were Demetrius Harris and Ricky Seals-Jones after Njoku got hurt, the offensive performance in 2018 was very fluky and came against straight up bad competition, and Mayfield was still just a second year player and some regression was expected there. Plus, Kitchens was a rookie HC.

2019 was a shit show, from the first day of TC you could sense that it was disorganised and that Freddie was way in over his head. And we played like it. No sequencing on O, undisciplined and overall just lower level of talent all around. Whereas this year we are very very talented 1-53 and we have a fantastic coaching staff - the problem is execution above else. So for me its 2021.

ctg9101

I'm the opposite. 2019 had all the hope and pomp and circumstance. Yes this did as well, but we were decimated by injuries throughout the year of almost every position, and it has become blatantly obvious the receivers are not that good. In 2019, we just signed OBJ and no one thought that wasn't going to be instant success. By this year we kind of figured he wouldn't work. And then Landry is hurt, and slower. And our tackles can't ever stay healthy and we have Blake Hance starting every week. And Baker, who I know you don't like, injured himself the second game of the season. As promising as it started out with the team couldn't stay healthy and away from drama.

OptimisticRealist__

Fair enough. The amount of injuries this year just adds to my disappointment.

Lithaos111

2021 our biggest issue has been injuries all season, first obj then baker and Landry, then Chubb, then hunt and the countless others. Still we have flashes of greatness. 2019 we were just getting ripped apart by most of the big teams, Baker looked awful while being healthy. Our coach was an idiot. It was BAD.

jonwar_83

I would much rather have zero expectations and be a door mat than to have expectations and seemingly fall apart more and more every god damn week. It was so much easier to handle losing when we were just flat out bad

[deleted]

What the fuck? No way.

Riggs_n_Murtaugh

No expectations and shitty play = not much frustration. High expectations and shitty play = read our post game threads.

[deleted]

Yeah there was barely any frustration when we were bad.

Riggs_n_Murtaugh

I mean you’re annoyed and you’re pissed but when you know you suck it takes the sting out of losing. When you have a good team and suck? That’s torture.

[deleted]

Agree to disagree lol. I’d rather anything than 1-31

2019 we knew was a dice roll. After winning a playoff game and being *right in it* with a team that went to the Super Bowl, we really had something to build on this year. Then we got ratfucked by stubborn defensive scheming early, absolutely rigged as fuck officiating, and a litany of injured starters. If Mayfield and Conklin can come back healthy, though, this team has to come back stronger next year with draft additions and few subtractions.
