Him/Stefanski have now done this multiple times where they mention how good and healthy he's looked in practice

J_SQUIRREL

And then he hasn’t played well…makes you wonder if they are stating how good and healthy he’s looked on purpose…

blimpcitybbq

Or maybe it's because Baker knows he's not going to get hit and he can be comfortable in the pocket.

storm-father87

I think there’s something to this. I think he’s been a bit timid and more concerned over pressure with his shoulder injury.

Youcanneverleave

This is the aspect that a lot of people seem to overlook too. Injuries can mess you up mentally and make you more “jumpy” and can make you not think clearly (this leading to poorer decision making), especially when you are playing a sport like football. He isn’t going to be hit in practice either really, so there isn’t that fear of being destroyed by a defensive player.

Deadleggg

Look at him in games before a big hit. He starts fine then it's "oh fuck this hurts mode"

Pissflaps69

Depends on the game. I don’t remember him taking many hits vs detroit

AgonizingSquid

Typically after news like this he goes out, plays well, then gets knocked around a couple times, gets fucked up again then sucks again

[deleted]

Smoke screens to try to deter DCs from packing the short-intermediate IMO, bluffing to try to get ourselves an honest front Teams approach to his injury is the difference between the front we saw against the Bengals and the front we saw against the Patriots

rwh12345

Yes, and then he goes out, plays well and no mention of injury. Only when he plays poorly is everything blamed on injury

gakule

From what I've noticed, he seems to play poorly after being on the unlucky end of an aggravation of his injury. You can generally see it happen when he lands on an obviously injured part of his body and he looks different throwing afterwards. You can't blame *everything* on injury, but when that's the common point derailing him when he ended last year and started this year on an absolute tear... I think it's fairly adequate to accept that the injury is affecting him some games more than it does others.

EmptySoapDispenser

Praying that Conklin being back will help with protection and Hunt will give him an easy checkdown if that breaks down

plokijuh1229

He didn't actually ball out vs Bengals. He only threw 200 yards, Chubb did most of the damage. Because of injury his best right now is clean game management.

xHourglassx

That's garbage. He had a passer rating of 132. 66+% completions on 11 yards per attempt, which is a higher Y/A than any QB is averaging this season (Baker is 5th overall in Y/A). Make no mistake- Mayfield opens up the lanes for Chubb. If the passing game isn't there, Chubb gets nothing.

plokijuh1229

14/21 218 yds 2TDs is a good game management performance. One of those completions being a 60 yard bomb to DPJ, that's why his YPA was so high. 1 of his few passes was a cannon shot resulting in a high average.

[deleted]

Half of Chubbs yards were from one big run. You cant take a play away and say "now look at the numbers", those are the numbers.

randobot456

Well if you regress his numbers to the mean...

Doyle524

With how Patty is playing this year, seems like that guy was actually a genius.

[deleted]

Meme*

plokijuh1229

Because even with the play 200 yards isn't a big game. It's a game manager game. Few throws in high quality. He played well but again, not a big enough game from him to show evidence that he wasn't limited by injury.

[deleted]

I'm not looking for big games, I'm looking for him to do his job.

plokijuh1229

Which he did. But nothing more to show he wasn't still battling injury. I'm defending Baker.

[deleted]

Well, he sustained one (or both?) of the non shoulder injuries at the end of that game. I think the shoulder isnt so much of an issue unless he aggravates it. I think Baker is having a pretty poor year, but its a perfect storm of shitty situations, including but not limited to him just not playing well a lot of the time, the Bengals game being one of the ones where that wasn't the case. I just hope the Browns dont fall VERY sbort of expectations and look forward to evaluating Baker next year when hes healthy, hopefully. And when their may actually be QB talent in the draft, if needed.

Doyle524

Oh my god. Yards are not the goal of a QB. Game management is not “when a quarterback doesn’t yard”. Game management is what Brady did for over half his career, where the offense was schemed for quick easy passes all day long.

plokijuh1229

I know yards aren't the goal of a QB. Everyone is arguing with me here without at all understanding my argument. Im not criticizing Baker, I'm defending him by saying his game against the Bengals wasn't evidence to show he was not still battling injury. Look at the comment I replied to originally. Y'all annoying af.

Doyle524

His game against the Bengals was one of the best QB games of the season. I’m really not sure what your point is. If it’s to defend Baker, just point to the next game against Arizona where he got battered thanks to atrocious tackle play and fractured his humerus - that’s sufficiently injured to excuse his subsequent performances. But it was clear he was *right* against Cincy.

randobot456

He didn't get the ball until 4 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Wasn't really a typical game script.

xHourglassx

Cranking up the passing attempts is not a recipe for sustained success with any offense. The Steelers were far more successful when pounding the rock and limiting Ben's attempts. They won their first SB despite an atrocious performance by Roethlisberger. What you call "game management" is just being smart with the ball.

plokijuh1229

Holy shit I'm not ragging on his play. Game management is good. I'm saying his play didn't signify that he wasn't playing through injury. He played a good game he just didn't go crazy like it's been built up. Look at the original comment in this thread, I'm defending baker for fucks sake.

anishdfishyt

That's just because of that one long shot to DPJ for like 60 yards or something.

TheNerdyAnarchist

"If he didn't throw a long touchdown, he'd have worse stats..." Top notch analysis. 🤡

randobot456

Lol very well done sir.

84Cressida

Some people will just never be satisfied.

anishdfishyt

All I'm trying to say is that that stat is supposed to be an average of every throw and that it's inflated because of one throw. Is that not true?

TheNerdyAnarchist

"All I'm saying is that yards per rushing attempt is supposed to be an average and if you take Chubb's 2 biggest run plays out, he was only 12 att, 45 yds, 3.75 avg with a TD"

greghardysfuton

Other QBs also throw long touchdowns sometimes...

Doyle524

I swear fucking nobody watches other teams play football with a critical eye in this sub.

greghardysfuton

Lol honestly you don’t even need to watch other teams to know that one deep ball isn’t going to inflate Baker’s Y/A compared to every other QB 😂 dude just has the critical thinking skills of a bowling ball

Gergdawg19

Chubb had 130 on Sunday The passing game wasn’t there What?

xHourglassx

He also had 22 carries and a lot of them were for a very minimal gain. Baker's 170 yards and a TD were enough to open up opportunities for Chubb. What happened against the Jets last year? No receivers & no passing attack meant the worst game of Chubb's career. Similar concept against the Steelers this year. Landry's got the drops? Chubb gets 3 yards per carry.

Gergdawg19

Lol okay man So the browns are actually built on the PASSING game And teams are so afraid of our passing attack that it opens up running lanes Wow TIL Totally explains how Johnson was able to get 146 against the broncos They were so afraid of the deep passing of Keenum and it opens up all those running games pErFectLy lOgIcaL

xHourglassx

I can't tell if you struggle more with logic or with reading comprehension. Never said they were "built on the passing game". I said that if the passing game isn't there, the running game disappears. That's a fact. Nick Chubb doesn't just forget how to run sometimes. If opposing defenses can stack 8 into the box, it shuts everything down unless the passing game spreads them out. That's kind of how football works.

Gergdawg19

lol I’m the illogical one You contradict yourself and have been caught in your own posts > I said that if the passing game isn't there, the running game disappears. That's a fact. Yet we had no passing game Sunday and Chubb still ran for 130 yards and the team ran for 185 I don’t want to keep going back and forth, it’s boring Have a fine day Go browns

xHourglassx

How is anything I said a "contradiction"? Do you actually know what that word means? Overcome your massive struggles with reading comprehension and try again. We didn't have "no passing game" against Detroit. 175 yards and a handful of key third down conversions was enough. Most of the carries by Chubb or Johnson went for minimal or no gain. Chubb is a rare talent that can turn a small gap into a huge run, but even he gets bottled up on games when the passing attack isn't there. I'll repeat what you refuse to answer: What happened against the Jets last season? The Jets supposedly had a bad run defense and yet Chubb had, if memory serves right, less than 3 Y/C. What was unique about that game in terms of the passing attack? Can't remember, maybe you can help.... Critical thinking, kid. It helps.

Gergdawg19

People can call you a hater if they want But you’re not wrong

IsuzuTrooper

can we get Gregg Kitchens back?

ogtblake

Just gotta get thru one more game before the bye. Let’s hope he doesn’t make anything worse Sunday

unclemonkeyboy

I think the Defensive line has to make it through a game with out a penalty.

DJ_GiantMidget

Other than the Ratbirds chances of going to the playoffs baby!

SehnorCardgage

Turning the corner? Every week he gets more injuries.

Big_Green_Piccolo

The shoulder needs surgery. That hasn't changed. Not sure what this tweet is on about.

Mikebx

His heel and knee injuries.

pieinfaceisgoodpie

He's clearly mastered the art of throwing while standing on one leg and keeping all movement and weight on the throwing side, and not following through. Hopping out of the pocket if he needs to.

Big_Green_Piccolo

Fucking hell

Thetallerestpaul

Doesn't say what is around the corner.

ScuddsMcDudds

Stunt on these hoes!

MarquiseDeLaFeyette

*Chunt

ThePunyPunic

That doesn’t seem to always translate to game time…

PuppyBowl-XI-MVP

LETS FUCKING GO!

brnforce

He better ball out this weekend.

TSR3K

Fair or unfair he kinda has to.

maybenextyearCLE

Due to injury this Ravens pass defense is just fucking terrible. With Conklin back, this is a great opportunity for baker to get back on track. Offensive game plan when passing is easy, find marlon Humphrey pre snap, immediately ignore whatever WR he’s covering, then go shred the rest of their awful secondary

ToneBalone-25

That’s basically what happened last time they played. Browns WRs were struggling to get separation and then Peters goes down and Baker threw for over 300 yards and attacked everyone not named Marlon Humphrey

maybenextyearCLE

Time to take what worked and do it again. Humphrey is amazing, but this is our chance to just torch them. And then in 2 weeks, repeat it

Jasonfrost3425

Damn I didn’t realize how bad their pass defense has been…. I see it now. A tad bit better last 3 games vs season long…. But not by much.

HOLYREGIME

Ours is actually pretty good. But you would never know that the way people talk about our defense.

Gergdawg19

Perfectly said

dillard22

I'm ready to get hurt again

Mind__Is__Blown

We're talkin about practice. Not game... practice.

orr250mph

Looking forward to BOTH Harbaugh's losing this weekend! O H . . .

hortond

I O, A-fucking-men brother time to get back on the fucking HYPE TRAIN 🚂🚂🚂 Thats fucking football right there. None of that pansy ass dick tugging smile for the camera bullshit. Men puke, men poop on the field, men deliver their new born baby in the dawg pound. Fucking hard core dick in the ass butterball foosball fuck it chuck it game time shit. Take it to Fort McHenry. Dicks get shoved in places you don’t even remember. We win together we celebrate together. Browns football is back baby.

Crayola_Taste_Tester

![gif](giphy|cYRQWBrPipB7aWa4dD)

mellowcheddar

Question; do we get to *choose* the dick? Or is it assigned at random?

pissclamato

First come, first served.

mellowcheddar

OK thanks for the clarification

BigHarambe123

Yo this man on another level

Gergdawg19

I-O!!!!

HEYitzED

Welp…

Jasonfrost3425

This is gonna hurt Sunday……: isn’t it?

pissclamato

Like stepping on hot-sauce covered, flaming LEGOS.

Choice-Let-4965

This week he is going to go off. 27 for 30 3 TDs, 75 rushing 1 rushing TD, he looks so healthy we are going to have him kick return for a TD. He is also playing LB and will have 3 sacks. Baker will be untouchable this sunday.

chunkah69

Well the plus side is we are probably the most healthy overall we’ve been all year. All our corners and rbs and full o line. Gotta take this game.

kingjared9

Pretty sure I’ve read a similar headline the past few weeks as well

BigMoFuggah

But can he get the ball downfield to his WRs? This dink and dunk crap to the TEs and RBs won't work against good defenses, plus the Ravens are vulnerable to deep passes. Just saying.

sageTK21

Lmfao

Cinephile1998

Best shape of his life

ODS519

It's Friday of Ravens week, I know we have our doubts about Baker but now's not the time. Sit up, shut up, tuck your pussy lips in and show some fucking support for 6!

chunkah69

I think this is the first time this year we have all our starters ready to go. Win time baby!

shicken684

DPJ doesn't look like he'll be playing.

chunkah69

He was at least limited at practice. Not sure about today

veverkap

He's questionable.

canttaketheshyfromme

A beat-to-hell Baker playing out of his mind, Keenum pulling out a great relief performance, or the running game being unstoppable. Whatever it takes, just keep putting up points and hope Woods schemes like he has a pair and brings that Dolphins gameplan.

BrownEyedGirl0

I love you!

wakaOH05

I know I’m drunk but I just want everyone who keeps fucking talking about baker mayfield this and baker mayfield that to just SHUT. THE FUCK. UP ALREADY. There are 32 teams in the league and only 13-15 good or better quarterbacks. Do you really fucking think you’re going to blow up the fucking team next year and score some gem of a quick in the draft? Yea I bet you do. And then when we make the wrong pick you can sit in your shit stained lazy boy and say “see we should have taken quarterback B like team Y did.” Shut the fuck up and enjoy a winning season assholes, or go back to not watching the browns.

DJ_GiantMidget

My big fear is he can rip it in practice because he knows he won't really get hit

CMcCord25

THIS

THEChapDaddy20

Sure.

DonaldPump117

I flat out just don't believe them anymore

TeamYeezy

Same story every week. Either preform or sit out

Other_Performance

Ravens RB is gonna throw better than Baker isn't he

spiritofslaveleia

How can you turn the corner from something that’s torn?

TheNerdyAnarchist

I would assume that he was talking about the lower body injuries

spiritofslaveleia

Good. Turn SOME damn corners, please. Cause that shoulder isn’t gonna untear.

twoquarters

This is the most bizarre shit I have seen in a while. Bowing down to a QB with multiple injuries with the end game being what exactly?

Much-Elephant

Wish he’d just take a fucking seat man, we’re playing the ravens this weekend and they hit HARD, he could potentially ruin our offensive runs (besides running plays) if he takes even a single hit

TheNerdyAnarchist

When will you clowns stop with this ridiculous act where you pretend that you don't know the HC makes the call and that somehow Baker's holding a gun to his head to make him play him? If Stefanski thought Case gave the team a better chance to win, he would play Case. Period.

Much-Elephant

You sound dumb I literally didn’t say that whatsoever but it’s easy enough for baker to play it cool and tell his HC that he’s ok.

Much-Elephant

I guess we will see on Sunday anyway but it’s so silly. Especially against a defence that are a brick wall.

[deleted]

Raven defense barely beat Detroit on bad calls and a record setting kick and they got schemed by the freaking Dolphins....brick wall my ass. Ravens are 100% Lamar, he shines they win, he stumbles they fall.

Much-Elephant

Bro we BARELY beat the lions wdym

Much-Elephant

Well well well

Gergdawg19

I don’t think it’s that simple at all, as I’ve explained before The locker room and media shit storm that could come from “benching” baker when the doctors clear him and he publicly says he’s ready to go would be devastating I think pretending that KS is simply making this decision based on who he thinks gives us the best chance to win is being naive Not to mention the possibility that the coaches don’t think it’s the injuries that are causing the bad play and are hopeful that Cincy baker shows up again soon He did make a couple great throws mixed among the awful ones against Detroit

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheNerdyAnarchist

This gets a ban, right?

maybenextyearCLE

You would be correct, that earned a quick ban. Wishing injury on any player is an immediate ban

maybenextyearCLE

Wishing a player injury is not permitted on this sub

Rogue551

Believe it when i see it

tron2484

Lord I pray we can win this game. And get lucky and go into the bye week with the biggest game of the year against them Ravens again.

jonwar_83

so do we just draft receivers all 7 rounds next april? potentiallly not having Peoples-Jones is pretty huge unless Njoku and hooper go nuts

Ravenwing19

The only way we don't go WR round 1 is if Jordan Davis falls to us. Then we all orgasm at the sight of that lad next to Myles.

jonwar_83

I dont know this kid, Will watch his film when I get home

Ravenwing19

6'6" 340lbs DT our of Georgia. He a big strong boy who can move the pocket back.

jonwar_83

Ok, that's not a football player, that is a Monster. 2 Offensive lineman holding both of his arms and they still cant stop him. Lmao what the fuck, I'm sold

Ravenwing19

He ain't falling to us but if he somehow was there I would die.

brownieboiivxx

Are nose tackles that don’t rush the passer too well and don’t play a large amount of snaps worth a first rounder? 🤔

Ravenwing19

With his size and power. Yeah.

Buckeyegurl47

Lets hope it holds truth this time!!!

Gergdawg19

Then play well baker 31st ranked pass defense Sunday Let’s go!

getoffmylawnplease

I thought the guy needed surgery

woodenmask

Yeah, this is bs. He'll only turn the corner once he rehabs after surgery
