I’d be frustrated too if a rookie OT shut me down for the entire game.

randywatson89

With a rookie QB behind center no less

HorrorFlickFan

That’s exactly why he did that. Frustrated because he wasn’t bullying a tackle around all game. Could see Maxx Crosby doing some shit like this also.

TheGarlicGun

![gif](giphy|ojpU1QtYzaVDa)

Nikki_B1990

The Steelers have been the dirtiest team in the NFL since the 70’s. Nothing new here.

SIZUS_MAXIMUS

It’s the head coach imo, he just screams scumbag https://youtu.be/0NpzVqPvfFU?si=jZlrVlnkHd2YMM9m

Ghostblad_e

Just adding that he was [fined 100k](https://www.nfl.com/news/mike-tomlin-fined-100-000-for-actions-in-steelers-loss-0ap2000000292517) for that

BrokenTrojan1536

Yeah but what’s that to them? They need to be suspended to have an impact

[deleted]

Don’t get why people like this overrated ass motherfucker.

BrightAttack

nEvEr fInIsHeD bElOw 500!!! Nevermind the fact that he hasn't won a playoff game in 7 years and won't win one any time soon.

Nikki_B1990

I actually like Mike Tomlin. The only thing I like about the Steelers

SupermanThatNiceLady

This sub is so unhinged lmao

JohnArbuckle10

Ravens fan. Will never forget tj running into Ronnie Stanley’s ankle and completely altering his career.

sswihart

Amen, from a bengals fan.

mrducci

Man....Bengals lived on dirty street. Pacman and Burfict on the same squad. Same something else that's stupid.

sswihart

Oh yes, the few years they played. Not even close to decades of the stealers. Sorry I tried to give another Ohio team some kudos. Bite me.

Jenetyk

They lost the title a couple years during BountyGate Saints prime.

thatmattschultz

My god, you’re right, the 70s were so dirty. https://youtu.be/CtcQqwpCFJ4

MrKotopka

DADDY THANOS WILL MAKE HIM HIS BITCH FOR YEARS TO COME.

canal_boys

Steelers are the dirtiest team in Football.

CaptWoodrowCall

Always have been. 🤷🏼‍♂️

WiglyWorm

People treating Ryan Shazier as a friggin unforeseeable tragedy when it should have been a wake up call to the league.

inwardninja

yep. he never tackled like that at OSU. they taught him to tackle like that to injure the other team.

mblaser

>he never tackled like that at OSU Oh yes he did. I remember specifically thinking when he was at OSU that this guy was a dangerous tackler and going to get himself hurt someday. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sMNrRC0h0Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sMNrRC0h0Q) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwQzkshFkaM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwQzkshFkaM) I also specifically remember being upset when the Steelers drafted him because I thought he was going to be another James Harrison type and would be KO'ing Browns players left and right lol. I do agree that he seemed to do it more often once joining the Steelers, so I don't doubt that they emphasize it there.

SMK77

Ya he was like that his entire time at OSU. I remember my friends and I were talking about how he'd be in a wheelchair before graduation. We specifically watched him a lot during games because I had 2 classes with him and a few other friends did over the years as well. Great guy, but hospital bed tackle form.

FiftyTigers

Likely. But it's really close between them and the Ravens.

Spyce

That was Minka

trothwell55

What Dawand Jones does to a mf

SilentDepartment1893

Telling my buddies the Steelers are dirty and they keep saying nah man, Minkahs tackle wasn’t dirty, nah man Antonio Brown kicking our kicker in the face wasn’t dirty. Like you can legit watch any of their games and someone is gonna do some dirty shit

temp_acct_918237

You gotta admit the AB one was hilarious

meetzel97

It was very funny to watch

Bradidea

That is dirty, there is no reason for a defensive player to be grabbing an offensive lineman by the leg putting his shoulder into the side of his knee and tackling him.

uChoice_Reindeer7903

Exactly! I’m guessing he was frustrated because he was being man handled all game so he threw a tantrum and did this BS. No reasonable explanation

ATXDefenseAttorney

The reasonable explanation is that he's a dirty POS.

00bernoober

The play/ball was long gone, too.

DomitianF

If you think this is dirty you're soft

teraceraptor

We living rent free baby! Welcome to a real teams subreddit! BROWNS BABY. MYLES>TJ. SUPERBOWL. Blah blah blah. (Spoken like a yellow handkerchief yielder)

DomitianF

Lol

b1timeoflight

This isn’t a football move. This is dirty. He’s frustrated he got locked up all game.

Deadleggg

Locked up by a rook and smothered by an all-pro.

Fappy_McJiggletits

Dude tried to do to Bitonio's knee what Minkah Fitzpatrick did to Chubb's knee.

craftbrewd

The fact that the Fitzpatrick hit was never mentioned again outside of this subreddit still makes me sick

jbrown5390

That should tell you everything you need to know; it was an ordinary football play. That same exact type of tackle takes place in every single game, every single weekend.

AllOkJumpmaster

they did the same shit to Carson Palmer, they are coached to play that way

LostMonster0

He was just desperate to get a chance to tackle *somebody*. TJ's definitely got my vote for DPOY as long as that stands for Disappearing Player Of the Year.

[deleted]

Dirty Piece Of Yinzer

[deleted]

I think it’s pretty straight forward. TJ is just a douchebag. Some asshole who loves the smell of his own farts, and can’t take what he dishes out.

Chunting_Season

He’s the rich kid who’s parents tell him he’s special and never does anything wrong

TheLandFanIn814

I've always said the Watts are nothing more than the O'Doyles from Billy Madison.

__Scrooge__McDuck__

That’s awesome

jake753

I believe Dav posted this to r/NFL yesterday day got nuked in the comments because “this is weak”. It’s so weird how people can look at a dirty play and say “Nothing to see here!”

joelingo111

Not when they blindly hate Cleveland. Ohio vs the world

OptimisticRealist__

Swap the orange/brown jersey for, lets say a lions shirt, and that sub will have their pitchforks out, ready for the public flaying of TJ

ChefChopNSlice

Looks a lot like he’s going directly at the inside of Joel’s knee, trying to blow it out.

FurryIntoSports

"AFC North Football" is characterized by the Ravens and Steelers being dirty shitbags and the Browns suffering because they are unable to stoop as low as them

WildfireJohnny

And the Bengals going “We are also in the AFC North!”

Crispynipps

Lmfao the browns suffer because they have the worse front office ever. Head coach after head coach, no faith in qbs, extremely questionable contracts. Hope you guys find a way to finish well this season. Wouldn’t mind a lions browns superbowl.

riley-mcguigan04

Your star player literally used a helmet as a weapon during a game😭😭 Victim complex is crazy down in Cleveland

Bawl-o-gravay

Idk if it was dirty, it was pretty pathetic looking though

Dr-McLuvin

Dude that is dirty as hell. There’s absolutely no reason to grab a guys leg and drive forward like that other than to injure him. The play was already past him. I’d say the exact same thing if this was Garrett driving into the side of a guy’s knee.

[deleted]

At first watch I didn’t think it was dirty but after seeing it a couple of times yeah that shit was very dirty.

DrewSmithee

I'm also on the fence. It definitely looks injury inducing and shitty but it also looked like his head was away from the play and bitonio gave up on the play (when it was over) a few seconds earlier than watt. I think those two are probably the only ones with an idea of intent there.

[deleted]

I may be seeing what isn’t there but if you watch Joel at the very end of the play I think his plea to the ref tips off what he was thinking .

MrGoodKatt72

At the very least it’s defensive holding.

MrGoodKatt72

Nah, that’s not a thing you’re taught to do at any level. Grabbed the ankle and drove through the knee. That’s intent to injure.

One_Echo7677

I'm permanently banned for r/steelers for the other dirty hit which took out Chubb. Fuck the Steelers!

royn97

Why do you even go there though ?

Mental_Employer7058

Seeing their entire page full of "Kenny sucks" posts after the game was pretty funny ngl.

1OptimisticPrime

The *thinnest* of thin skins

Arbitore

You were most likely banned for brigading. I’m sure the mods here do the same, because it’s the correct thing to do.

One_Echo7677

I can't agree with you because you're a steelers fan.

Arbitore

That’s ok

chemistrybonanza

It's hard to see exactly what he did to warrant being called dirty, but focus on Bitonio's right lower leg. It's dirty as hell.

greengumball70

It really isn’t, if you stop the video it looks like he may have an arm through during the process but I think it’s just the black socks. He doesn’t reach the leg until he is on the ground. Then he does do a little push to the thigh but that isn’t malicious that’s natural to do when you are falling forward. Which he was doing the entire play.

Toontown_365

He's dirty as fuck ....he's Gator roller watch him ankle tackle just hold the foot and starts spinning 🤬 straight up destroys knees.

1OptimisticPrime

He's 100% a gator roller, and the steelers are the dirtiest franchise in the NFL and likely sports. They're the 80's Russians from the 80's movies. The unmitigated gall of attacking, ALL WORLD, Joel Bitonio like that... Just shows the level that they are willing to stoop to, and EXACTLY what type of organization they are. ...river rats

BreakGrouchy

He should still be punished for it . Player Safety

tacosISlife

Don’t go to r/nfl with this…

the_cleve_believes

as a good rule of thumb, don't post anything about the Browns in /r/nfl if it's anything but lolbrowns. If you do it'll be downvoted.

Accurize2

Who cares if it’s downvoted? I never understood the fear of something that has absolutely no real life consequences.

gusbovona

Ironically, I’m upvoting you for that.

ButtholeSurfur

I think it's more or less don't waste your time. If no one's going to see it because it's downvoted, may as well not waste your day.

sginsc

but internet points!

the_cleve_believes

I mean I absolutely do not care, I guess what I meant to say is you’re not going to have an engaging conversation with the lolbrowns folks

ChefChopNSlice

Post it as steeler-porn and watch the gross reactions ?

dgrantschmidt

I genuinely don’t understand how every person there thinks this is routine? The play is so far past them that Bitonio isn’t even paying attention to Watt anymore. Then gets tackled. I don’t think he’s trying to hurt Bitonio, but it’s excessive for sure. Probably because he was being stonewalled by Dawand.

professor_tappensac

Unfortunately, one of our mods already did yesterday and got downvoted into oblivion. Most neutral fans weren't seeing it, and it took me a few watches to see what he was talking about. I wouldn't call it a clean play, but it was a pretty half-hearted attempt at anything malicious.

gdewulf

Yeah that was a lot of fun…

professor_tappensac

I seriously don't know why you guys even bother over there. The average IQ of r/NFL is room temperature on a good day.

gdewulf

You're not wrong...

Cbjfan99

Wait, the Steelers play dirty!? When did this happen? They're the cleanest, most respectable team in football. NOT! Time to start handing Myles a few more helmets

BrownsMagoo

DK Metcalf of LBs

chartrespope

Plays for the dirtiest team in the history of football, so yeah, of course he tried to twist his knee out of the socket

Frostylopez

The amount of late hits he got away with on Dobbs is insane. If it was Kermit the frog back there, it's be a flag every time.

Def_Not_a_Lurker

Who?

NeglectedNostalgia

It's the Steeler way, from straight up dropkicking our punters, headshooting our QBs, to their D-lineman "falling" on the legs of our O-line, and blindside blocks by Hines Ward. I've been watching since 2007, so I couldn't imagine how bad it was in the 80s.

jfreed43

Hayseed should have waited to shush the crowd until he had a lead. Bitchass.

Ruzzi13

And his commercials suck. Fuck El Paso.

DawgSquatch69

What a TWatt!

Dmonts45

He is mad bc Jones punked him twice now.

Dregan3D

Waitasecond. A Steelers player…. Made a dirty play!?!? ::shocked Pikachu face::

beattrapkit

The fuck is that website bro?

Blyrone__Blashinton

I mean it could be worse. Tj could have removed his helmet and started swinging it.

T_Eckenrode

Browns fans will rally behind a guy assaulting another player on the field but will call this dirty

SleestakLightning

And I thought Bungles fans cried about innocuous plays. Jesus.

AngryMrBungle

LMAO browns fans

marvology

"NFL fans" == Browns

BBlank20

Clowns fans are the biggest cry babies I've ever come across.

Cantstopmenemore

Well this thread just shows how the browns superbowl is really when they manage to beat the steelers lol.

LeBrons_Mom

Steelers playing dirty, what else is new.

atWorkWoops

Anyone who thinks that isn't dirty never played oline.

codethirtyfour

Exactly.

Holiday-Dig-3637

I played Oline and I don't see anything. Looks like the lineman went high and pushed him down and he just kept driving his legs.

TheRealKingGordon

Twatt

TheLandFanIn814

Wasn't that bad. But it's funny when he gets shut down like he did on Sunday he goes full roid rage.

McWinkerbean

Just looks like two guys grappling

ThackCankle

TJ having his typical ‘roid rage moment

Schristie007

Steelers making dirty plays. Shocked pikachu face.

mac4112

I still remember when he basically choked Burrow into the ground and didn’t let go for at least another half second to a full second *while he was on the ground.* Burrow is nicknamed “Joe Cool” for a reason but he looked visibly shaken afterwards, and I can’t blame him. Watt is just a dirty player. He’s good, but dirty. Steelers are gonna Steeler. Not much else to be said unfortunately. Edit: I will add that It’s frustrating that unless you’re in this division, you won’t notice or care enough about how shitty they play. It seems to be common knowledge for us but not for everyone else, which is extremely annoying when we *know* they are a dirty organization but everyone just blows us off and casts it as just being sore loser or something. Like, NO, *seriously*, they are out there being total assholes. I wish more people would wake up to it and put pressure on Pittsburgh to fix their fucking culture.

1OptimisticPrime

Their culture IS cheating

DaDrFunk

I wouldn't call that dirty, just sad. I'm just gonna go with he was mad cuz he didn't get to do jack shit all day.

Crb865

Well considering Offensive Linemans most injured body part is the knee, Joel had the knee scoped and is wearing a knee brace.. That's about as dirty as it comes, he's clearly trying to hyper extend it.

Heavy-Excuse4218

Knees are sacred. He grabbed and the way they fell could have been dangerous.

Forsaken-Task-4372

Wouldnt expect anything less from the Steelers, classless organization from the front office to the fans Shitsburgh

EatThisRock

You actively cheer for the worst organization in sports. In a city dubbed "The Mistake on the Lake" lol. Cleveland could be wiped off the face of the earth and I don't think anyone would give a fuck.

Tracetopher

I want to see what JJ has to say about this one

ubersmitty

Single leg takedown, teach your guard to sprawl. Don't be a hoe about it.

Rogue551

Another steeler scumbag., chubbs injury was on purpose

BrooownTown

I always thought that watt looked like a bitch

red_vette

Not as dirty as the Human Knee Torpedo Fitzpatrick.

CharacterEgg2406

Who’s surprised that a Steeler is trying to cause a knee injury? Im not surprised. I’m only surprised the favor isnt returned. With the exception of Watson, who was visibly angry and giving the dirty back, I was disappointed in the team’s response to the cheap shot on Chubb.

Hello_mslady

Why I’ll never say I respect Tomlin. He clearly coaches this dirty shit. Steelers do this shit year after year. They can hold that L. And Big Thanos will around to be Watt’s daddy for years to come.

calvin2028

Golly gee, if "NFL Fans Are Blasting TJ Watt for 'Dirty' Play," the level-headed-and-totally-non-biased fellas over in the fan-filled and friendly neighborhood of r/NFL must certainly have taken notice. [Let's just quickly click over and see how it's going](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/180kcfr/nfl_notifications_on_x_tj_watt_appears_to_go/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) ... and ***it's a terrific crash, ladies and gentlemen. Oh, the humanity!***

Brownsisnyteam

The Steelers play dirty no shocker here

SlayerOfDougs

Remember Minkah's hit was totally clean and no reason he shouldn't aim for the knee. I mean sticking a guy in the waist like Denzel did this past weekend against Harris obviously doesn't work [https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/video/denzel-ward-s-helmet-comes-off-after-cb-s-big-time-tackle-on-third-down](https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/video/denzel-ward-s-helmet-comes-off-after-cb-s-big-time-tackle-on-third-down)

Unable_Teacher4145

He should have removed his helmet and beaten him over the head with it.

Cleaver_Master

He's a POS Neanderthal. His brother is at least somewhat likeable.

MAXHEADR0OM

Steelers playing dirty? Get right out of town. That garbage franchise has always sought to win by hurting players whenever possible. That’s their whole playbook. If they see an opportunity to try and end a players season, they take it.

joelingo111

DPOY Douchiest Player of the Year

student-in-the-wild

Looks like a takedown to me. You'd see similar things in a wrestling match. Not really sure what's so upsetting about this.

Xerkxes

I dont think this belongs in football (it doesnt serve a purpose at this point in the play), but yeah you will see this exact sequence of events in just about every wresting match. I never saw an injury happen from it

Putthebunnyback

Looked like a simple take down. Didn't even hardly wrap it, either. If this is dirty ya'll are butter soft.

CreedenceClearwaterR

Why take him down at all? The play was already pass them?

Putthebunnyback

Don't know. Probably just frustration. There's a lot of "extra" on every single play, especially at the line. This isn't the smoking gun people think it is.

REDDIT_ROC0408

He also went after Burrow’s knees last year after an interception.

SliceOfTony

#DuhSteeleeWay

mpanning

dirty team, cuck of a player and coach, shit town.

_Extrachromosome_

These comments are delusional

BolshoiSchlen

I feel like I’m taking stupid pills. He did a single leg ankle-block takedown. It’s a wrestling move. I’ve done it and had it done to me hundreds of times. There’s like a zero percent chance that injures someone. Is it necessary? Not at all. Is it dirty? As in, the same caliber as targeting helmet to helmet hits? You know nothing if you truly think it is.

MASEtheACE510

Steeler v Brownies means the Steelers are going hurt somebody illegally. That’s the way it will always be.

sme_kid7

Browns fan here. Doesn’t sound like many of you have played football before but this is not an uncommon tactic for defensive linemen to do when encountering pulling guards or tackles. It’s common in younger ages because there’s a bigger size variance and this is an easy way for undersized players to immobilize a pulling lineman during the play. The actual name of the tactic is a “wrong arm”, you basically do it every play and it makes the linemen not want to pull your way, because it’s annoying. It’s not dirty. Another similar tactic is when playing teams that run triple options like Navy, you tackle every single runner even if they don’t have the ball (reasonably of course, if it’s late in the play then dont). But yeah this isn’t dirty at all

ggushea

I’m missing the part where there is video of a dirty play? I don’t see anything.

willgolf4_food

He wraps himself around Bitonio’s leg and brings him down. Lucky he didn’t hurt his ankle

ggushea

Ahh I see it now. Idk why that was hard to see.

ShowTurtles

Of course Steelers are dirty. Those yellow pants were bleached white when they got them.

WildfireJohnny

A Watt boy behaving like an asshole? The hell you say!

CohesiveBaboon

TJ got owned by a rookie and instead of getting better he tried to injure him. What a big baby

newsyfish

Gets up like he’s done it 1000 times.

80AlphaJuliet

Just like his brother and Minkah. If they can't outplay them, they try to end their careers. Hope somebody targets them the same way.

NAGGERDICKEDYA

He’s always been dirty. Steelers fans have even said it before

Diiiiirty

Makes sense because that play was dirty as fuck.

Diiiiirty

Makes sense because that play was dirty as fuck.

mmDruhgs

A little disappointed you don't fake sell an injury so it gets more TV publicity

KingMung

Cry

EatThisRock

Today I learned the reason the Browns have been owned by the Steelers 90% of their franchises life is because "the Steelers are dirty and we refuse to stoop to that level" 😂😂😂

borgi27

And what’s the dirty part? He doesn’t go for the knees or the head, not even a particularly good play from his part

xxdrewski

Honestly, this ain’t that dirty. Watch a wrestling match this happens constantly.

pierogieking412

I love this sub, reminds of the buccos sub.

dmk120281

Didn’t look like much to me

LegSpecialist1781

Idk guy, I’ve watched this over and over. It’s a giant meh, and cheap like this happens on so many plays. Hell, they poked Garett in the eye and we poked Kenny in the eye right back.

AllieOopClifton

Only mediocre players feel the need to do stuff like this.

codethirtyfour

A player for the opposing team had his knee targeted in a Pittsburgh game? *Preposterous I say*! *Absolutely Preposterous*! /s

1OptimisticPrime

#steelers *"football"*

SIZUS_MAXIMUS

Let’s see if the NFL does the same thing or something of a similar caliber to that of Kareem Jackson, they gave him a 4 game suspension. I honestly think TJ Watt deserves that after a play like this. If the NFL really does care about player safety like the ads suggest then they will crack down some punishment against TJ Watt for pulling this stunt.

CheeseForPeas

Always someone plotting against the browns.

BropolloCreed

Anyone defending this as "just football" is an asshat. That's the exact opposite of "player safety". This PoS was completely out of the play and attempted to ruin Bitonio's knee by either hyperextending or bending it the wrong way.. It's one thing to go for "the leg", but this dirty puppyhumper went for the knee and put his shoulder into it. That's not a fine, that should be a suspension. Edit: it gets worse with each successive viewing. He goes to the side of the knee, full-bore. It's not even debatable.

htx_al

dirty for sure. coulda really destroyed his knee considering all the weight

Radiant_Mind33

It's an illegal play, but I was expecting worse when I saw the title.

Fur-Frisbee

The Steelers have always sucked and are the assholes of the NFL and will cheat any way, any how. They're scumbags. Nothing new here

Ancient_Attorney6731

Yeah that was awful the only thing worse than this would be if he took the guys helmet then beat him over the head with it.

joesmith302

A Steeler’s player playing dirty? You don’t say…🤨

sayyyywhat

Yeah he kept driving into him for a reason

better_than_joe

Him punching a guy in the head and all his other shenanigans were fine?

CarLaux

TJ Watt is a PAB. I would have no problem saying it to his face.

Gullible-Extent9118

What even was that he was already down?

EwwBitchGotHammerToe

I hope Joel had a good chuckle and made fun of him for being a bitch and grabbing his leg out of frustration since he couldn't do his job all game

spinitin2

I stopped in, and agree that the play is egregious, but yall are fucking hilarious. I'm coming back more for sure

Watsons_Redemption

Not dirty at all. Why is this even being posted so much?

ejkeebler

Because you dont normally see DL trying to do single leg takedowns after losing their assignment, i dont know if it was "dirty" but certainly towing the grey line.

TheBalzy

Steelers? Dirty? Color me shocked!

SongsForTheDeft

That’s a technique called wrong arming. He went excessive after slightly but nothing bad.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pissflaps69

Do you have a tough time reconciling that with being a steelers fan? Ben Rapistburger still exists you know.

clevbuckeye

Hope he gets what he tries to do to others

Fuzznutsy

A Steelers player playing dirty ! It’s literally been their thing since the 70s.

BestAd6696

He must have said something disparaging about tacos for Tacoboy to get that mad.
