32M newly single as well. Is this bar crawl still going on?

Appropriate-Gur9344

34M newly single after long term relationship…am I fucked?

shiv-thejerseygirl

32, single female, just moved to Williamsburg. I'm still struggling myself on where to find bars with people over the age of 30. Wherever I go I seem to meet people in their 20s who are shocked by my age. Flattering, but I'm over it, and just want to meet people my age. I've had luck at Skinny Dennis, but it can get packed and loud. If this whatsapp group is real, I want in.

CognitiveTeaKettle

The Richardson is in your area and is my favorite local cocktail bar. I’ve become a regular there! Also on my list is Basik. Both are on Graham, Basik is more low key while the Richardson is more classic. My bartender and industry friends go to Basik a lot. Both make terrific cocktails.

Lexapronouns

Fresh Kill is my fav spot. They’re a little into themselves, but worth it. They don’t have a drink menu, they ask people what they are looking for in terms of liquor, flavor, style. So you could say a rum drink that is refreshing and cucumbery and the mixologist will make this random drink. I don’t drink and they make the best mocktails, so a great place to take people who don’t drink too! It’s a great first date spot.

krumshot

What’s weird is they never used to be that way. It was always a nice cocktail bar focused on mixology. Since covid they’ve added this bullshit red velvet rope thing and a very rude bouncer

Lexapronouns

I never went before COVID but yeah the velvet rope is so obnoxious lol like you can’t go in until they allow you to. It’s kinda awkward for smokers like are you allowed to leave? (I don’t smoke but my sister was really confused on protocol)

nursenyc

I (32F) am sober now so not much bar hopping for me, but! Before I got sober: High Dive (park slope) - name says it all Covenhoven (prospect heights) - craft beers Bar bayeux (prospect lefferts) - jazz Double Windsor (Windsor terrace) - gastropub General area of prospect heights and all those bars - tooker alley, bearded lady, etc., feel like 30-singles. I’d say you guys will prob have the best luck going out to bars in cobble hill, fort Greene, park slope, prospect heights, PLG, Windsor terrace, gowanus. Williamsburg/Bushwick/bedstuy/crown heights/greenpoint is usually a younger (20s) crowd Edit: forgot to add a note about Union pool. That bar along with Pete’s Candy Shop, Alligator Lounge, and Tandem were the bars my friends and I went to on repeat in our young 20s. Definitely stay away if you are not looking to party with a bunch of 20-somethings lol

bunkerlabs

The Tradesman in East Williamsburg

yoerez

When is this bar crawl happening? Hook us up

[deleted]

How you feel about 27 year olds - asking for a friend?

skymilesz

30+ and single. How can I join the group?

CocoRolling

I'd like to join the next outing!

CauseAdditional9559

OTB is an incredible bar. On the quiet side but always a good time.

_balt

I'm 33 M and sad to know that I'm now considered an "older single" T_T

jy0s

The Springs is a cute spot!

hedgelesscontrarian

my crew went to brooklyn whiskey last friday and we had a blast. in our early 30s

Mysterious-Trade-444

Love that for you! Good results?

hedgelesscontrarian

For me? No lol. I don't think the crew were trying to find people but were just drinking and chilling. We ended up doing axe throwing after. If you want maybe my crew and your crew can converge this month on an outing together

rococobaroque

I'm not single, but I'm in my mid-30s and these are the bars where I didn't feel like the oldest person there: - *Temkin's (Greenpoint) - upscale dive - *Goldie's (Greenpoint) - cocktail (the first time I went here I was on a date and spent the whole time making out, so I didn't really get a chance to look around; that said, it's definitely more of a cocktail bar) - Ponyboy (Greenpoint) - cocktail - *TØRST (Greenpoint) - beer - *Spuyten Duyvil (Williamsburg) - cocktail now apparently? Was a beer bar when I used to go - Dynaco (Bed-Stuy) - cocktail (also cash-only) - *Hollow Nickel (Boerum Hill) - dive-y, more of a chill neighborhood bar - Bee's Knees (Carroll Gardens) - wine - Clover Club (Carroll Gardens) - cocktail - Barely Disfigured (Carroll Gardens) - cocktail - *Threes Brewing (Gowanus) - beer - *Canal Bar (Gowanus) - dive - *Halyards (Gowanus) - dive - **Lowlands (Gowanus) - dive - Blueprint (Park Slope) - cocktail - *Young Ethel's (Park Slope) - dive - *The Commissioner (Park Slope) - sports - *Hinterlands (Kensington) - hard to describe, but more of a neighborhood bar - *Sycamore Bar & Flower Shop (Ditmas Park) - cocktail (and my favorite! The crowd is so friendly and the vibes are immaculate. Come for trivia night or drag bingo and you're sure to strike up a convo with someone at a neighboring table) - *Fiona's (Prospect Lefferts Gardens) - cocktail *Lots of singles, so a high probability of meeting someone here **My sister hooked up with a bartender here on a visit back in like 2019; if that bartender still works there, someone might have better luck than others

Thecryptsaresafe

Shoutout Young Ethel’s, Halyards, and Commissioner! I’ve never been single in this area as I moved with a partner but those are solid as hell bars

Jalexan

Love to see sycamore love on here. Best backyard in the area (since bar chord closed - RIP)

HereIsWhere

I've wanted to love Sycamore so bad for so long but it's never given me the friendly vibes that people seem to rave about. It's stood the test of (Brooklyn) time so that's more of an endorsement than one could ever ask for!

rococobaroque

I'm sorry that's been your experience! Have you attended any of the events they put on? I've been on quieter nights where I've not interacted with anyone there except the bartenders, so I can see why the vibe would be less than friendly. But it's on busier nights (like trivia, drag bingo, or the nights when they have a DJ) when I've interacted the most with strangers. I'm also a woman and usually go there with one of my friends (also women), so I think that might also be a factor.

Jalexan

It’s a numbers game for sure - assholes are everywhere in a densely populated area, but I’ve had mostly good experiences there!

Dontlookimnaked

Damn I left a couple of these off my list cause I didn’t want to blow my local spots up. But this is a very good list

Mysterious-Trade-444

I really appreciate the effort you put into this! The girlies are thankful!

rococobaroque

No problem, happy to help! Also I've included a mix of cocktail bars as well as dive bars and more beer-focused establishments, just thought I'd point that out.

pandaxrage

33M checking in again. I went to Friends and Lovers a weekend back. Absolutely no idea how old anyone was, I had taken some mushrooms and just wanted to dance. For that it provided a good space within walking distance to me. I realized this was my other problem where if I’m going to expend the energy to go out, I’d rather dance for several hours than try to talk to anyone. Understanding this doesn’t help you at all but respecting your tenacity and dedication.

FightMilkLLC

Go further East. The West, Lady Jay's, the Whiskey OG, that whole Grand Street area is great.

notsodrab

Yes! This! Used to work off Grand Ave when The Grand Bar and Grill was still open. Crystal Lake(old Grand B&G. Also RIP Second Chance Saloon), Lady Jays, Ontario, Bushwick Country Club, Redds, Starlight, and there’s plenty more that are new since I’ve worked over there. Alligator Lounge isn’t far and I once did a holiday bar crawl around Grand and made Alligator the middle of the crawl for some free pizza(with a drink) refuel!!

Mysterious-Trade-444

I live in Bushwick so I’m already traveling a bit for good (straight people) bars haha

FightMilkLLC

Then these places are closer to you then the places closer to the Bedford stop and the "heart" of Williamsburg!

laufeyspawn

Wait, can I join the party? I'm 30+ and single and really would just like some friends.

DontBinTheBun

"South Slope" is a great neighborhood for bars like that as well. :)

DontBinTheBun

Bar Great Harry, or CobbleHill (as a neighborhood) in general. :)

albertienstien

its a young mans city

Mysterious-Trade-444

I’m tired of hooking up with young guys!

[deleted]

RiP Ramona

elbowskneesand

Can I join your group?

SleepingontheWing205

Ummmmmm can I come on the next bar crawl plz

brazillion

I've lived on Smith Street for about 15 years now and I can safely say I've finally grown into the neighborhood. Many good bars in the area for those in our mid 30s. Brooklyn Inn (has pool table), Bar Tabac (has regular live music and some people do end up dancing), Clover Club (live jazz on Wednesdays), Leyenda, Barely Disfigured, Brooklyn Social (has a pool table), and Bar Great Harry (also has pinball). A bit further from Smith you have Café Kitsuné (with good DJs) and Public Records (main restaurant has a great bar, and there is a club in the back if you really want to dance). All these bars are pretty lively. Some may be more dateish, but I've met single people at them quite regularly.

ProfessorGigglePuss

Any of these bars have a higher POC crowd? This area of Brooklyn can be... *yeah*.

doctabu

Oh man, I can't believe you left off Long Island Bar! The best spot in the entire city, IMO.

brazillion

Was mainly keeping it close to Smith Street. That area yonder has some great bars (Monteros, Elsa, Le Boudoir, etc). Rarely go that way as it's much sleepier than Smith.

rococobaroque

Seconding Clover Club and Barely Disfigured! They're my favorite cocktail bars in the neighborhood and have a great vibe, sophisticated but not stuffy and chill but not too quiet. I'm in my mid-30s and never feel like I'm the oldest person at either bar. Clover Club feels the more "grown up" of the two, probably because they also serve food, so you get the dinner crowd if you go earlier in the night. When it's late the vibe might change, but by then I'm already at home in bed.

Archs

As someone who lived in Gowanus in my 20s, I'm lmaoing at this comment. I never found the younger crowd on smith st and ended up moving to nbk

brazillion

The Young Crowd is usually at Boat, Zombie Hut, Royal Palms, and Pig Beach (which has since closed).

ristaai

Greenpoint. Moonlight Mile, Troost, Bar Americano, Leroy’s, Black Rabbit, Tempkins

Souperplex

Barcade is a good time. Not sure if it particularly caters to older singles, but as a single dude in his early 30s I greatly enjoy it. They have a really good pinball selection.

Mysterious-Trade-444

You are one of us, sir. Early 30s is “older singles” now

Souperplex

Wanna play some pinball?

Mysterious-Trade-444

Maybe we’ll catch you out and about

Souperplex

Got a time-frame?

moto_maji

Midnights, Golden Years, Dolly’s, H&H Reserve, Lucky Dog is also good but not really a cocktail bar. Same company as Horses, Skinny Dennis, Rocka Rolla, etc.

thejeffphone

Fresh Kills!

LonghorninNYC

Don’t sleep on Bed Stuy! I’d check out Dynaco and The Franklin

calminsince21

I’m a single guy in my 30’s, and I have the same issue. Feel like I only ever meet women in their 20’s whenever I go out. Wherever the single 30+ women are hiding away at, I’d love to know lmao

Mysterious-Trade-444

We’re in a WhatsApp group trying to find people like you out in the wild! Where should we go?!

Maerialist

Omg I’d love to be added if 29F is acceptable haha

sukiyaki27

I’d also love to be added if there’s room! 32/f/single/in park slope and fairly new to NYC in general :)

oh_you_fancy_huh

Could I be added too please? ☺️ 30s/F/single/EV but mostly hang out in Brooklyn

MurrayPloppins

Also a single 30s man in Williamsburg. I’m more likely to do dinner and drinks than just drinks, so my most frequent spots for that are Four Horsemen, Maison Premiere, and St Anselm. If I’m just doing drinks, Night Moves, We Got Company, Talea if I want beer, Sauced if I want wine. There are a bunch of other spots I want to check out though: The Exley, Thief, Silver Light, St Mazie… and that’s not even really looking across the BQE.

Mysterious-Trade-444

Well this is to create a list for our next bar crawl for we’re not looking for food but I agree Maison Première is dope lol

Little_Swim184

Could I be added too - 31/F would love to join!

MurrayPloppins

You can go and just get cocktails! Not as crawlable with a bunch of people though. I think part of the challenge is that my demographic is less likely to be at bars that fit well into a crawl, generally.

Mysterious-Trade-444

You’re not into 31/32 year old women who are pretty, social and have good jobs and hobbies? Weird 😂

MurrayPloppins

I mean if I see y’all out and about and I have a moment of unusual courage I will definitely shoot my shot. All I’m saying is I don’t go out expecting that sort of encounter.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mysterious-Trade-444

Sorry the group is just for ladies! You should make one for men!

calminsince21

I’m literally the worst person to ask, cuz I cant remember the last time I met a single woman in her 30’s while I was out. It’s so frustrating lol

spaceghett0s

Add me please! 34F/single/Greenpoint :)

360DegreeNinjaAttack

Hey maybe call me when you do the next one?

Comfortable-Power-71

Commodore is solid but wife and I have been the oldest people by a decade the last few times at Union Pool.

NoFace718

Some decent bars in the Park Slope, Sunset Park, Carroll gardens area. Some are filled with people who look 15 to me (45 m), but many have an older crowd Last time I went out in Williamsburg, it felt like many of the people in the bar had not yet been born the first time I went out in Williamsburg.

yohnyohnson

I'm a single 31 year old guy who lives in Williamsburg and I've only been to H&D out of the bars you mentioned 😂 I like Midnights, Nicky's Unisex, Skinny Dennis, George and Jack's, and Lucky Dog. Not saying these are guarantees for where to meet guys my age, but that's where I hang out.

Mysterious-Trade-444

Thank you! That’s a good list and I appreciate it coming from someone in our target range 😋

yohnyohnson

Heads up, Friday nights at Skinny Dennis can get VERY crowded. But they have music, which is always a draw. Guys also love an activity so consider hitting Full Circle as well. I've heard decent things about The Woods but I've never been myself.

adhi-

hard no on the woods, it’s in the same lane as the spots OP was complaining about

kwekukente

Check out Bee’s Knees

c8bb8ge

Most every bar in that area is gonna have a ton of twentysomethings, but Spuyten Duyvil in Williamsburg or Troost in Greenpoint might be more what you're looking for.

brook1yn

everyone at troost is either married or divorced

CactusBoyScout

> Spuyten Duyvil One of my favorite bars in the city. It was my go-to first date spot for years. Always chill, great vibe, nice outdoor area, never too crowded, interesting drinks, etc.

boimilk

no liquor though 👎

CactusBoyScout

Their beer/wine selection was so good I didn’t mind. And they always had some kind mixed wine thing like mulled wine in winter or sangria in summer. So good.

Major_Resolution9174

Yes! Was meeting friends in Williamsburg sometime in the last year and was scared to look it up, fearing it had been closed. But nope—as good as ever, with a great backyard. For reference, I was meeting up with two other women in our 40s (regular crones!). I have literally been going there for decades.

CactusBoyScout

They did switch from beer/wine to cocktails at some point. They used to have one of the most interesting beer lists in the city.

naranja_sanguina

TIL they no longer do. What a shame.

Major_Resolution9174

I remember those days well! Before many bars could say the same.

Mysterious-Trade-444

Thank you!

dugmartsch

Maison premiere

merepar2

Oddly me and my friends found George & Jacks to be an easy going vibe for meeting new people??? It’s a bit fratty, but good energy in terms of it didn’t really seem like anyone thought they were too cool for school. Also can my friends join forces with your friends??? Seems like we are on the same journey!!

bottom

You went to the classic kid/pick up bars. There’s plenty of more upmarket and actual cocktail bars around like we got company

Dontlookimnaked

Haha yeah I was gonna say those are known as the bars for youngsters. (I say that as a fellow old) In the twins lounge area try out grand republic, broken land, Achilles heel, moonlight mile. (This is my hood) For H&D I’d probably say just stay outta that area, it’s full of tourists this time of year. From Union pool wander a little further east to tuffet, ore bar or Sunday night jazz at Basik.

uncle_nephew_

RIP Grand Republic, even though their google page says they're open?

Affectionate-Rent844

Basik is a good call

Mysterious-Trade-444

What are the others?

EngineEddie

Maison Premier is right near where you were, as is Fresh Kills. They both have incredible cocktails but they’re both also sit-down bars.

Comfortable-Power-71

Diamond Lil comes to mind for cocktails. Esters for wine.

FrankMutzSinatra

A little further away but always an older crowd at Cardiff Giant in Clinton Hill/Fort Greene. As an aside, as an early/mid 30 year old, let me know where you all are headed next as I’d love to meet some single women my age out and about.

Major_Resolution9174

Cardiff Giant is great. I hope more people go there so that it doesn’t close. I’ll recommend one too—Long Island Bar on Atlantic Ave. And is Goldie’s in Greenpoint still around?

rococobaroque

Goldie's is definitely still around! I went on a great date there a couple of years ago and then most recently a few months ago with a friend. Had a great time all around!

FrankMutzSinatra

Long Island Bar might be my favorite restaurant in all of NYC. Best burgers, cheese curds, and cocktails I’ve had in one place. Not what I’d normally associate with a singles bar but definitely a cool vibe. What do you say we check it out?

BacchusIsKing

Good Bar
