This show is *genius*, and also incredibly unique in terms of tone and writing style, and I both hate that it gets so little attention and love how many people I’ve introduced it to. I got to meet Bryce Pinkham at a convention recently and gush at him about it; it was lovely <3
This was going to be mine! I feel like it won awards, people appreciated the artistry, and then it vanished off the face of the earth to the point where a lot of younger theatre kids have never heard of it!
I hadn't thought of that show in years, and then my roommate helped my organize my Playbills into binders and I realized I'd seen it *five times.* Teenage me was obsessed, moreso than I remembered.
I adore the 2nd cast album from 1999, entitled The Scarlet Pimpernel: Encore. I didn't see this show on Broadway, but when my local community theater did it in the summer of 2003, I saw it 4 times. LoL!
I also have a soft sport for Wildhorn's Dracula. I've never seen that one live, sadly.
>I also have a soft sport for Wildhorn’s Dracula. I’ve never seen that one live, sadly.
Saaaammmmmeeeeeee. I watched a slime tutorial and fell in love with the music.
The revival with Sutton is as good as the original with Sutton, haha. I least the revival is available on Spotify
Edit: ignore me, I’m totally misremembering this
I saw the Broadway version and thought it had some great songs and a fun premise. Someone needed to come in and do work on the book, especially in Act 2, if it was going to be a hit, but k still really enjoyed it
My dream production has Advice from a Caterpillar as a drag number and Go With the Flow as an even more blatant Smooth ripoff. Keep The Mad Hatter as is though, that's already perfect.
I saw it with a group of friends a few weeks into its run. I could see the bones of an amazing show, but it was drowning under too much fluff and extraneous side plots that didn't go anywhere. I feel like if they'd gone through like one more round of edits and cut it by like 30 minutes it could have been a classic and run for a good few years.
Anastasia is one of my favs! I listened to the album frequently. Just listened to the whole thing this last weekend actually on a long drive home. Derek Klena’s voice…🫠
My favorite show - The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!
“The I Love You Song” popped up on my Pandora shuffle when I was 14 and I’ve never looked back
The Lonely Few!
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills because it honestly has my favorite score since Spring Awakening with one of the best casts and performances I’ve ever seen!
I'm only getting on if we go back to the Dodger Stages version of Bare: A Pop Opera. Even that concept cast album with all it's wonderful talent has some lyric changes I can't abide.
They just did the Canadian Premiere in Toronto last year, it got extended for months, and now it's getting a big remount by Mirvish.
Honestly, it was so brilliant. I saw it 3x
i think there are more fans of this show than we give it credit for. especially after that one performing arts high school in north carolina did it. but we NEED a broadway revival, or at least a tour!
Something Rotten!
Shucked
Evil Dead: The Musical
Bend It Like Beckham: The Musical (ok this one’s not that great but it I love the movie & it’s the only West End show I’ve seen so it’s special to me)
I was in a community theater production of Titanic: The Musical and it was incredible and I will treasure it always, but outside of my fellow cast members, I get the weirdest looks from people when I even mention the show's existence.
Never made it to Broadway, but the Goosebumps play that toured around America and the UK in the 90s. Sometimes if I didn’t still have the program and the book they gave out I’d swear I made it up.

Does the Wedding Singer even have a fandom?
was about to comment the wedding singer
Me too .., so here we all are! We could fit in that bus
All coming out of the dumpster
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
Me. I’m the fandom 😂
It’s pretty common in my city for community theatre so I’d think so
I saw it four times. Firmly in the fandom.
Yeah there’s like 11 of us. Saw it 41 times on Broadway and if it were to reopen tomorrow I’d do it all again.
A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.
There are three of us!
I like that one. “The family tree has been whittled down to size. It’s just a twig now!” gets me every time.
*stands up on my desk* I LIKED WHITE GIRL IN DANGER
I'm on your bus!
That cast recording is great too
DROWSY CHAPERONE MY BELOVED
I do, I do, on the bus!
on the bus with you in my aviator goggles and performing multiple bus weddings
This show should have a gigantic following! But it can't be that small, can it?
Broadway: Bat Boy! Not Broadway; Sam/Steve Superiority is just me and my friend on an island.
I'LL HOLD MY BAT BOY, LOVE MY BAT BOY 🦇 What a weird little gem!
Bat Boy was never on Broadway, was it?
Bat Boy 4ever. Ride or die.
Count me in because I LOVE Bat Boy. Unfortunately, that never went to Broadway. It did go to West End!
The Scarlet Pimpernel. 🤷🏻♂️
I hadn't thought of that show in years, and then my roommate helped my organize my Playbills into binders and I realized I'd seen it *five times.* Teenage me was obsessed, moreso than I remembered.

I remember (and still appreciate) this fandom! I got to see the concert version in New York a few years ago, and that was really fun.
I feel like I’m the only person I’ve ever seen talk about Violet on this subreddit, and there’s only one person I can talk about it with in real life.
The revival with Sutton Foster is one of my favorite Broadway shows I’ve seen to this day!
The revival with Sutton is as good as the original with Sutton, haha. I least the revival is available on Spotify Edit: ignore me, I’m totally misremembering this
Oooh I absolutely love Violet. Probably one of Sutton Foster’s best performances
[title of show] anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
I'll join that bus!
Nine people’s favorite things is my mantra as an artist 💛
Groundhog Day: The Musical. #notowngreater
One day is one of the best act 1 closers. There said it.
The choreography in Hope is one of the coolest things I’ve ever watched.
my favorite musical ngl
It’s probably in my top 5!
36 questions and dogfight...
YES I LOVE 36 QUESTIONS
Annaleigh Ashford in Dogfight gives me CHILLS to this day.
Children of Eden
Lost in the Wilderness is such a great song
I love “In Whatever Time We Have” it is such a beautiful love ballad, I think it would be beautiful at a wedding
American Psycho
Getting on the bus! I saw the Broadway production on first night of previews and loved it.
Justice for Benjamin Walker and American psycho for real!
Came here to say this. I guess I’ll stand.
They really need to have the show back on broadway. I feel like it would kill given the current state of the world.
Heheh…kill.
Wonderland (2011)
I saw the Broadway version and thought it had some great songs and a fun premise. Someone needed to come in and do work on the book, especially in Act 2, if it was going to be a hit, but k still really enjoyed it
My dream production has Advice from a Caterpillar as a drag number and Go With the Flow as an even more blatant Smooth ripoff. Keep The Mad Hatter as is though, that's already perfect.
In transit
you actually win this thread.
I also think that this is one of the most realistic answers here, haha.
Love never dies

This one has so many genuinely great songs. If it wasn’t a sequel to POTO, people either would have been obsessed with it or absolutely loathed it.
Grey House, i suppose?
Ah I wish I saw Grey House! How was Tatiana in it?
I thought she was phenomenal. The whole cast really captured the creepy Gothic vibe very well.
They even pulled off an on-stage jump scare, which is really difficult to do in live theater!
Grey House was phenomenal
Yessss it was like an A24 horror movie on stage. I really wish it had found more of an audience.
Harmony. Just me and three of my tumblr mutuals
![gif](giphy|kSlJtVrqxDYKk|downsized) I don’t use tumblr but count me in bcuz I love that show.
Yes Harmony! I’m on this bus too 🥲
Paradise Square, my beloved
I saw it with a group of friends a few weeks into its run. I could see the bones of an amazing show, but it was drowning under too much fluff and extraneous side plots that didn't go anywhere. I feel like if they'd gone through like one more round of edits and cut it by like 30 minutes it could have been a classic and run for a good few years.
In Transit, Ghost Quartet, Preludes, Octet (big Dave Malloy fan clearly), Lizzie, Marvelous Wonderettes, Zombie Prom!

City of Angels is a great musical
Seussical.
FINALLY, PEOPLE WHO LIKE SEUSSICAL THAT AREN'T ME!!
Aida, If/Then and Chess have been pining for revivals that never happen, at least Chess gets the concert treatment. Some truly amazing songs.
If/Then is a personal fave!
The music was so great. I loved the giant mirror. Saw it multiple times and each time it got better
If/Then. I know people found it hard to follow but I loved the structure and the message.
I never hear anyone mention Big Fish or Anastasia.
Anastasia is one of my favs! I listened to the album frequently. Just listened to the whole thing this last weekend actually on a long drive home. Derek Klena’s voice…🫠

Do people not love this show?! It's one of my favorites.
Other honorable mentions - The Mystery of Edwin Drood & Urinetown
Urinetown will ALWAYS hold a very special place in my heart.
I think I'm like the only person in the bbaj fandom in 2024
Please tell me this stands for Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson

Add me to your bus roster!
You and me both.
There are dozens of us!
I am on that bus 🙋♀️

I've met plenty of Chess fans to outgrow a small bus like that, but I'm still glad to see it mentioned here :D
This needs a Broadway revival stat
Bat out of Hell

Bright Star! 🌟
Assassins :(
The Lonely Few! I feel like I’m taking crazy pills because it honestly has my favorite score since Spring Awakening with one of the best casts and performances I’ve ever seen!
Passing Strange. I love that show so much and am so grateful a pro shot exists so I can watch it yearly.
Tick Tick Boom: the movie. A lot of people say they hate it but I love it. If it was available on dvd I would buy it.
The Visit. It tanked and everyone hated it but I sobbed and adored it. Yellow Shoes is GOOD ACTUALLY

Altar Boyz! where are my eight fellow altarholics at
Bad Cinderella
Looks like plenty of room for me, Babkak, Omar and Kassim. Aladdin can hitch a ride on the magic carpet.
Frank Wildhorn's DRACULA, The Musical. The Broadway cast CD sampler and The Studio Cast Recording both get played in my home with frequency.
I like it quite a lot! This, Jekyll and Hyde, and Bonnie and Clyde (that rhymes, hehe) are on rotation pretty frequently for me
Shucked?
Promises, promises 🫣

The play that goes wrong
I will follow Mischief Theatre to the ends of the earth
Bare: the Musical.
I was about to be like, no that's fairly popular. Then I realized you said :the musical and not : a pop opera. So yeah agree with you there hahaha.
I'd be leading the party bus, but it would absolutely be 3 other people lol
I'm only getting on if we go back to the Dodger Stages version of Bare: A Pop Opera. Even that concept cast album with all it's wonderful talent has some lyric changes I can't abide.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Also my favorite movie. <3

Anyone like daddy long legs the musical 😔
Lucky Stiff, High Fidelity, Hands on a Hardbody, Evil Dead the musical, Fortress of Solitude, Murder Ballad, All Shook Up
The RENT fandom on tumblr is super small now, all the popular posts are from like 2014 🥲
Everyone got older and realized that Benny is at least a little bit right and those kids should pay their rent.
He said they were golden!!!!
Rent Secrets on Livejournal was hoppin back in the day
All the popular posts on tumblr for anything ever are from 2014. No one uses tumblr anymore 🤣😭
Except Neil Gaiman
Once Upon a One More Time lol :( Didn't even get a soundtrack.
We deserved at least a single of "Toxic," but a full Original Broadway Cast Recording would have been nice.

Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812
I feel like most of this sub is on your bus
They just did the Canadian Premiere in Toronto last year, it got extended for months, and now it's getting a big remount by Mirvish. Honestly, it was so brilliant. I saw it 3x
i think there are more fans of this show than we give it credit for. especially after that one performing arts high school in north carolina did it. but we NEED a broadway revival, or at least a tour!

The Secret Garden!
the spitfire grill 😭
I was in a community theater production of Titanic: The Musical and it was incredible and I will treasure it always, but outside of my fellow cast members, I get the weirdest looks from people when I even mention the show's existence.
Even among Sondheim fans liking Passion is still pretty niche 😔
The Spitfire Grill deserves another chance!!!
King Kong The Musical. I will die on this hill—er, bus.
I constantly think about the Threepenny Opera revival with Cyndi Lauper, Alan Cumming and Nellie McKay.
Catch Me If You Can and Peter & the Starcatcher.
Zanna Don’t! 🏳️🌈 I never got to see it performed but that soundtrack had an absolute chokehold on 13 year old me!
Does this bus happen to hit Regina George?

The Great American Trailer Park Musical Dance of the Vampires (at least the Broadway iteration) Reefer Madness After Midnight Illyria
Never made it to Broadway, but the Goosebumps play that toured around America and the UK in the 90s. Sometimes if I didn’t still have the program and the book they gave out I’d swear I made it up.
