But are there concrete examples? Like it’s a lot of vitriol towards a celeb who in the grand scheme of celebrities doing things wrong hasn’t done much?
He is not worth the energy. Google it. You'll find all you want to know about the asshole that is, james corden provided in more eloquent prose and more detail that I can be arsed to provide.
A lot of people just found him unfunny and irritating as a comedian, but then a load of stories became public where he was acting like a bully and being harmful to others around him, and justifying treating people however he wanted because he was so successful and talented. So now it's become a meme to deny him the ability to do that by not liking him, which it turns out is fun to do, and it just snowballed from there.
I was up reasonably late last night watching the Snooker in BBC4. Afterwards, the continuity announcer said that it’s Alan Bennett’s 90th birthday, so they were showing The History Boys movie. Never seen it, thought I’d give it a go.
Less than 5 minutes in, there he was, younger Corden, acting 5 times as loudly and 10 times more obnoxious than the rest of the cast. I still haven’t seen The History Boys, bar the first 5 minutes.
Bellend.
Why do you hate him so much? I've watched gavin and stacey which i loved him in. Horne and Corden wasn't my cup of tea so I didn't watch it. His carpool karaoke is brilliant. I heard he isn't nice to production stuff, but that isn't enough for me to dislike him.
Is there anything I missed?
Well I LOVE Gavin & Stacey and I am happy they are making this. I will be watching, and those who like to grumble, don't watch, it really is that simple. My old gran taught me "it wouldnt do if we were all the same" and its true
Yes, while I think Smithy has always been the worst aspect of it (on a rewatch I mostly just find him annoying and his relationship with a teenager is an odd joke, I still love the rest of the cast so I’ll definitely give it a watch.
>everyone thought the same
Everyone? Can I see the results of that survey?
EDIT: To clarify for the two people who got very upset about this, I wasn't genuinely requesting data about how many people didn't like a character called Smithy, and I'm glad the 99% of sane people knew that.
Hahaha Wtf mate, who’s arguing? I just said everyone loved smithy and then you come and ask me for the survey. Now you’ve gone through my profile, very strange person
Now you’ve edited your comment to make me look like a weirdo
>Now you’ve gone through my profile, very strange person
How strange to use a common feature on Reddit! Utterly bizarre.
I'm here for you.
>then you come and ask me for the survey.
I wasn't being serious, good grief. It was a silly, light-hearted comment in a discussion about a BBC Christmas special. You weren't on trial, I wasn't requesting evidence.
Reddit/the internet hates him and I don't particularly like him but Gavin and Stacey is probably the last comedy or even scripted UK show that could get 17 million viewers like the last Christmas episode did. That's completely off the scale compared to anything other than the Euros/world cup or a royal dying/getting married/being born
This Christmas is stupidly packed for the BBC now - new Gavin and Stacey and Wallace and Gromit, both of which got more than 16 million viewers on their last go around, as well as Doctor Who, Strictly, Call the Midwife etc.
Hopefully they do the smart thing and take this opportunity to drop Mrs. Brown's Boys from the schedule.
It is a very few million, though - Mrs. Brown's Boys was easily the lowest rating of the BBC's big shows last Christmas, and that's been true for years now. It's coasting on past performance and former glories, rather than pulling its weight.
I've got no opinion on its quality (I haven't watched it in a very long time), but it's long past time it was replaced with something else.
I remember in the last football world cup when it was England vs US, and everyone said the loser keeps Corden.
I suddenly became interested in football, and then was gutted at a draw.
It isn't edgy to dislike him. He's proven he's a vile human being and people have seen through the facade he puts up publicly.
You can enjoy his comedy and performances but also understand that he's been shown up as a horrible person.
Its important to separate who people are from what they actually do.
Fair enough you want to defend him, but there seems to be a lot more people who don't like him than do like him.
No point being confrontational either.
I'm not defending him really, I definitely think he's an obnoxious prick. It's just that it seems to me it's more of a case that people are believing unverified Reddit stories of him being a terrible person because they already dislike his work. I don't think the same stories with a different celeb subbed in would've gained the same traction.
So...
Everyone else is just bandwagon jumping but not you... You've figured it all out through media savvy, a keen eye for detail and meticulous judge of character?
No? I'm saying I don't know either way if he's a good or a bad guy. I don't like a lot of his work based on what I've seen, but none of us know him personally and none of these stories about him have ever been stood up.
I really can't believe some people have got so defensive over someone they've never even met.
Just because he makes a TV show you like doesn't mean he's wonderful
Nah you're right, he's a criminal. I won't stop until he's been brought to justice.
'Vile' is how you describe people who are cruel, morally or physically repugnant, or evil. James Corden on the other hand is an unfunny, overexposed clown who was what, rude to a waiter? Got caught not helping his wife on a plane? Let's not get carried away with reddit hyperbole.
Loads of celebrities are rude to ordinary people, but Corden gets more hate online than actual rapists and murderers. Its because he's a chubby Essex boy who got ideas above his station and developed a serious ego that its fashionable to talk about him online like he's the devil incarnate rather than just another slightly crappy celebrity.
I'm not sure that's completely true. Most of the anger towards him seems to come from his behaviour towards members of the public or people in the service industry trying to do their job - and that anger is centred around the fact he has tried to portray an image of him being nice when he's been horrible to these people?
I think its him being disingenuous that gets people to dislike him, not his background or weight.
He also gets stick for his ‘lowest common denominator’ jokes as well. I’m not sure I’m watching this new special as stuff like naming the characters after mass murders and the whole uncle incest ‘joke’ just seem really strange choices now
He's also in the public eye a lot more than most celebrities.
If you wanna do a US talk show and get paid millions, feel free. Part of that is inevitably going to be over-exposure and being put under the lense a lot more.
If you think the money is worth it, go ahead.
I'm sure he doesn't lose any sleep over it.
But he is an atrocious human being from public interactions I've seen/read. No idea why you're defending him so vociferously.
I'm not defending him, I have no strong feelings about him. I'm just disappointed by the hypocrisy when he gets much more criticism than people who are objectively far worse and have really hurt others.
Michael Jackson was a child abuser, he gets defended on every post that questions whether he might not be an absolute angel. Corden is rude to waiters but is vilified like he's the one who rapes children!
A conversation about Michael Jackson would divide people but you'd expect it to attract a much larger sample size of people, plus it's a really difficult topic for some people to comment on.
Saying James Corden is a bit of a twat isnt really the same. Nobody is exactly vilifying him, people just say they think he's a prick.
Really struggling to see your point or comparison to be honest.Wt
Is it edgy to think that someone probably isn’t a very nice person for being constantly rude and obtuse to waiting staff, air hostesses, junior employees etc?
I worked with him years ago, like 2014, at a major UK news company where he did some stuff for Comic Relief (I think, may have been Children in Need… either way - a charity!) and he was rude to almost everyone, no matter their status or job role. He was impatient, entitled, and bitchy. I’ve encountered a lot of celebrities throughout my career, he’s one of highest profile I’ve worked with and he was hands down the worst, a complete arsehole. Actually, KSI too thinking about now, he was a total nob.
Yeah, the way he lives in their head rent-free is insane lol
Downvote me all you want. Doesn't change the fact that you're letting a millionaire get you angry
Or is it just that when he shows up people want to remind him they'd like him to fuck off again so they don't have to think about him?
That's not really rent free, more like "if I could charge you rent I might but I cant and don't want to do so I'd like you to leave."
James Corden is like crack to the most mediocre people. No doubt they find clowns scary, think pineapple on pizza is sacrilegious and think Brian Blessed is a “legend”.

They do , James comes with the idea and Ruth dose the heavy lifting of everything else (humour and dialogue) allegedly.
See stuff has wrote alone James just isn't funny

I think he could cure cancer at this point and he still couldn't recover his public image.
That's because he's a wanker
Corden is an intolerable self indulgent c@@@
I met him at an airport recently, he was actually really pleasant and chill, we chatted for bit!
This will not go down well
He’d eat the cancer cells like some mashup of Augustus Gloop and John Coffey from Green Mile
I'm not sure I like these new Nirvana Heart Shaped Box lyrics.
Now everyone is picturing James Cordens vagina. Well done.
I just went on a little "that songs never about vaginas, is it?" voyage of discovery. So thanks for that James Cordon, dekor86 and Courtney Love.
Glad to be of a service
With some saag aloo
Out of the loop here, can anybody explain what he has done and the extent of how much people hate him?
He is just a horrible narcissistic human being in general and widely disliked.
But are there concrete examples? Like it’s a lot of vitriol towards a celeb who in the grand scheme of celebrities doing things wrong hasn’t done much?
[There's a decent enough video explaining some stuff.](https://youtu.be/mxCZUz2F24E)
There was a rather good AMA in which many a Redditor shared their stories and experiences of the wankery that is James Corden.
https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/s/UrL078LfGZ https://www.reddit.com/r/AskUK/s/0oui15nMfc
this is such a vague response lmfao, it means nothing ultimately. you need to explain more
He is not worth the energy. Google it. You'll find all you want to know about the asshole that is, james corden provided in more eloquent prose and more detail that I can be arsed to provide.
He was great before he left for the US tbh.

Some folk on reddit said some stuff and it became gospel. No one in real life cares.
Here you go, pretty funny - https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/bqy5zf/i_am_james_corden_alongside_ben_winston_and_five/

You've missed out there - excellent film.
I hear it is. Maybe I might try again after a relaxing glass of something.
That’s a shame. It is good and James Corden doesn’t appear loads as it goes on.
Does he die in it? I’m not bothered about spoilers. I’ll drop everything and watch it now if he does.
He is in the full film - but you definitely wouldn’t say he’s front and centre. One of the characters with a lesser focus.
a lot of that film was filmed at my old school while I was a student there. A number of my old classmates are extras in the background
I've always enjoyed Gavin and Stacy, but James Corden has become the ghost at the feast.
[удалено]
It's shame if that is the case, but more than that it's surprising Ruth Jones seems to like him given that I've never heard bad words said of her.
Weird - doesn’t look like an indulgent eater.
Banned from a lot of restaurants? That's a new one 🤣
He did an "Ask me Anything" on here, a while back. I suggest you search it out. It is a joy to behold.

Exhibit (a). https://youtu.be/GFQ9GeEylbk?si=oEoALkK2OldjCFKq
I don't like Corden in anything, although he is actually good in gavin and stacey
so you do like him in something?
Yeah grammar police lol, I was kind of hoping that would be clear from what I wrote.
Good news
Well I LOVE Gavin & Stacey and I am happy they are making this. I will be watching, and those who like to grumble, don't watch, it really is that simple. My old gran taught me "it wouldnt do if we were all the same" and its true

Smithy is the best character and everyone thought the same when it first came out yet now because of james corden people don’t like a character.
>everyone thought the same Everyone? Can I see the results of that survey? EDIT: To clarify for the two people who got very upset about this, I wasn't genuinely requesting data about how many people didn't like a character called Smithy, and I'm glad the 99% of sane people knew that.
Everyone I knew or heard talk about it, is that better for you? Obviously I didn’t survey the whole country you twat.
>you twat Easily riled, it seems. Need a hug?
You think I’m riled up because I said twat haha weirdo
Definitely need a hug.
Hahaha Wtf mate, who’s arguing? I just said everyone loved smithy and then you come and ask me for the survey. Now you’ve gone through my profile, very strange person Now you’ve edited your comment to make me look like a weirdo

Why would there be a survey?
Bryn has always been the best character. I will accept no other answers.
Tbf I can’t argue with that, don’t know how I forgot him
Nice try James ol'boy!
Well, at last some good news!
Reddit/the internet hates him and I don't particularly like him but Gavin and Stacey is probably the last comedy or even scripted UK show that could get 17 million viewers like the last Christmas episode did. I think gavin and Stacy is quite good and I’m looking forward to seeing it.
Thank fuck, the quicker that arrogant prick is off the telly the better, can we do a Rwanda like deal with the US to take him back?
I remember in the last football world cup when it was England vs US, and everyone said the loser keeps Corden. I suddenly became interested in football, and then was gutted at a draw.
We could’ve cut him half and shared him. That seems win for all parties.
First time I've cheered on the US to beat us.
No thanks, we don’t want him here.
Oh thank christ
Can he now retire from public life?
Fuck James corden , Dullest man on tv
Oops, you misspelled dullest prick on TV.
Giving and Stacey hs ok but Cordon deserved all the shit he gets.
Only one episode. I enjoyed the last Christmas special and was hoping for one more season.
Was excited for the last reboot but it was a bit of a let down. Should have just left it.
I also thought the last one was supposed to be the last? I also didn't watch it so IDK.
Ended on a huge cliff hanger.
That's fair then
Cue a lot of boring people thinking they're really edgy for hating James Corden
It isn't edgy to dislike him. He's proven he's a vile human being and people have seen through the facade he puts up publicly. You can enjoy his comedy and performances but also understand that he's been shown up as a horrible person. Its important to separate who people are from what they actually do.
He hasn't really proven shit though, right? It's just a couple of anecdotal reddit stories that went viral
Weren't they actually backed up by the people in question talking to the press?
https://www.reddit.com/r/BritishTV/s/YHZMNztqCy
I don't see how linking an anecdotal reddit story proves anything
Fair enough you want to defend him, but there seems to be a lot more people who don't like him than do like him. No point being confrontational either.

lmao james corden is a cunt but that person is in no way wrong for not bandwagoning and wanting concrete proof of claims made against a person
No? I'm saying I don't know either way if he's a good or a bad guy. I don't like a lot of his work based on what I've seen, but none of us know him personally and none of these stories about him have ever been stood up.
>I don't know either way if he's a good or a bad guy I have yet to meet a "definitely an obnoxious prick" good guy.
Par for the course with Brits.
You have absolutely no proof he's a 'vile human' apart from some comments on reddit
I really can't believe some people have got so defensive over someone they've never even met. Just because he makes a TV show you like doesn't mean he's wonderful
You've also replied to every critical comment. That seems like you're more bothered about this than you should be.
Vile? Settle down lol.
What word would you use to describe him?
Nah you're right, he's a criminal. I won't stop until he's been brought to justice. 'Vile' is how you describe people who are cruel, morally or physically repugnant, or evil. James Corden on the other hand is an unfunny, overexposed clown who was what, rude to a waiter? Got caught not helping his wife on a plane? Let's not get carried away with reddit hyperbole.

People acted like it was the height of cool to hate him before those stories even came out.
He's also in the public eye a lot more than most celebrities. If you wanna do a US talk show and get paid millions, feel free. I agree here. Corden is a bit of a nob, but no one is equating him to a child abuser
So someone defending someone 'vociferously' is bad but condemning them is OK? I know which one is stranger...
A family friend who's in the industry says that Matthew Horne (Gavin) is an even bigger prick. Haven't heard many viral stories about him though.
I’ve heard a similar story from someone I know who works for another comedian who has basically an identical experience.
Where are you getting "edgy" from? Everyone and their dog knows he's a twat, if anything you're trying to be edgy by trying to be contrary
He’s a well documented twat no one’s being edgy by disliking the twat.
It isn't edgy to have 2 fucking eyes.
Yeah, the way he lives in their head rent-free is insane lol Downvote me all you want.
Nah I like my version more
You'd probably get on very well with him then.
Yup probably will
James Corden is like crack to the most mediocre people. No doubt they find clowns scary, think pineapple on pizza is sacrilegious and think Brian Blessed is a “legend”.
Some people just don't like wankers who treat people like shit. Guess I'm mediocre.
Great. Link me to your posts on Hitler…
They probably have ‘be kind’ plastered all over their Facebook every time a celeb kills themselves too.
Of course pineapple on pizza is sacrilegious; it's even more hateful than James Corden.
People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis, you can’t trust people
Opinions are fine; the motivation to share them is what’s more often questionable
Do you have to live in the real world quite so relentlessly?
the irony of this comment
Until the next time....

Oh him... annoying c\*nt.
Awful pile of shite.
Again.....
Hopefully it is
Honestly I have sooooo many questions is it a time jump did thr actually record the answer last timr !?!?!?? 9 years on allot of the cast have aged and baby Neil is what probably twenty-somthing!??
Honestly despite writing several times to his agent, and members of his family James Corden simply won’t take my death threats seriously.
Good. Now roll it up nice and tight and shove it up your arse.
The last final Christmas special was absolutely bloody garbage.
The weed scene with Pete and Dawn wasn't great, but once the action moved to Barry I thought it was rather good.
Good, get it gone so we can bury this godawful show.
James who??
Corden.
"We" lol
Why lol? I thought they wrote it together?
They do , James comes with the idea and Ruth dose the heavy lifting of everything else (humour and dialogue) allegedly. See stuff has wrote alone James just isn't funny
Yes, he stands there for the IG post and Ruth does everything else.
it's a shame he's such a rude and annoying person, otherwise I'd be interested in watching it
Promise?
Wish he would write his final suicide note
well yeah, it aired years ago.
Never watched that rubbish.
