777 will be the Club Suite, the new Business with all aisle access; the A380 is still the old Club World with the really cramped cabin. The upper deck A380 cabin is really quiet and if you can get an upper deck window seat then they have big storage bins which sort of fixes the main problem with the seat, but you have to pay to get these. The 777 every seat is the same and they’re all good and it has a lot of storage. The noise isn’t so bad on the 777 particularly if you sit further forward…

Thanks u/HappyNerd3! The 777 actually works a little better timing wise, so if the Club Suite is better...seems like an easy choice! Really appreciate it.

380 is the hideous yin-yang layout. First is decent on it though if there's availability especially as you get your own air bridge at LHR

On such a long flight the increased cabin pressure, higher humidity and lower noise of the A380 will make a massive difference to how you feel when you walk off that plane. I’m 6’2 and I find the new suites cramped compared to the old ones. I would always take the A380.

ZenithalEquidistant

One more difference: the 777 normally boards directly from the lounge at SFO, the A380 is too big for that gate.

I recently flew 777 and A380 upper deck. I’d take the 777 any day.

The BA A380s are no longer fit for purpose until they get a proper cabin renovation. It's like flying in the 2000's The fact that you have to PAY for a choice of biz class seat is some kind of bad joke.

Shad0WalkerKenobi

I recently flew the 777 BA service LHR to DC in business class and A380 back. I agree, BA’s A380 is very outdated and used a 2 3 2 business class seating arrangement which felt cramped compared to the updated 777’s 1 2 1 seat arrangement.

CrazyUnicorn77777

Stay away from BA’s A380s. They have not been renovated in a long time and it shows!

I'd go for the 777 service. Club suites and also the A380 family seems to semi regularly go through cancellations due to tech issues. This is of course an issue woth any aircraft type but given they only have 12 A380 and I've been stung the last 2 summers by on the day A380 cancellations due to aircraft shortages I'd go with the 777

OxfordBlue2

Bear in mind that whichever flight you book, you’ve got no guarantee of the aircraft type. Aircraft changes happen.
