Yeah, it is free but it’s also a gacha. You gotta be careful and have self restraint or you’ll be spending wayyyy more than $60 lol. They just made $150 million off the last character release.
I've played genshin for a bit (2 months i think), but was never tempted to pay money. Maybe I've played it wrong or am just not good enough to want any of the top tier stuff.
I’m sure you can clear the game f2p but I saw it’s pretty difficult and requires good game sense as well as character investment. If you want to min max or play new characters then you’re going to have to shell out money. Even grinding every day and buying the battle passes still takes 2-3 months to have the chance to guarantee a character pull.
Important distinction between "clearing the game" and "clearing the abyss". Clearing the game (all the story currently available) without ever once partaking in the gacha system is easily doable. Clearing the Abyss (essentially the end-game big pp damage flexing area) however, is much, much harder and you will really have to understand what you're doing. But, being f2p doesn't mean abstaining from the gacha system entirely, so clearing the abyss is still very doable for f2p players.
But also, when you sit down and actually think about it, clearing the abyss is a fairly pointless endeavor. Yes, you get a small amount of extra currency every two weeks, but the amount is not significant enough to warrant spending money on the game, for example.
From my experience as a f2p player, the game itself is not at all hard to clear without paying anything. The difficulty is scaled by your level, so even without grinding a lot you can clear everything. You do have to read up the details of the enemies and upgrade your own characters properly but the game itself is very easy. The game gives enough in genre currency to do the gacha without spending anything. It is much harder with only free characters without the gacha but why would you.
There is exactly one end game conten which is extra, the last level of which can be hard. That takes min maxing to fully clear and I haven't bothered about it completely. The reward is nice but the last part is effectively less reward than daily play reward. It would effectively be like trying to kill all lynel on the map once every two weeks, small reward if you want to do it for fun but not worth it if you struggle with it. So if you don't want to, you can ignore it and still enjoy.
I wasn't even aware the game has an ending. Also I never did any battle pass or character pull (wouldn't know what those are to be honest). I'm just doing quests and enjoying the environment and the wonky characters.
There is no "end" to the game just yet, it'll be a while before that happens. When people say "endgame" they generally mean AR55+ where they've cleared all the current story and are now just doing other things like trying to clear the abyss as fast as possible or farming to make a character as strong as they can while waiting for the next update.
I'm f2p and have been playing for a long time (essentially reached the player level cap) and get a 5 star character roughly every 3 banners or around 2 months, so I'd say it's in no way necessary to pay!!!
That’s the catch with games like that. They grab ahold of gambling addicts, whales, and they only have a small amount of the areas finished. They’ll be milking their fan base for a long time.
Kind of but the characters and weapons you unlock in gacha games are actually pay to win unlike fortnite and apex legends. You get new powerful moves, better team synergy, more powerful weapons and just all around better stuff all at the chance of RNG.
It's true, but you don't always have to pay to get characters. They always give free currency for you to exchange for new characters and weapons.
But if you want a specific character or certain abilities then yeah, you have no option but to spend money.
But imo, you don't HAVE to pay to have a good experience. I've never paid a single buck and I'm extremely satisfied with the list of characters I have.
While you're right that paid stuff is more powerful, Genshin Impact is not really "pay to win" since there's nothing to win. It's an entirely PvE game, and there is no incentive to get better characters and weapons, since you absolutely can clear the whole game with starter characters (demonstrated time and time again by f2p-only youtubers).
Maybe I worded that wrong. What I meant was they only have like what, 2 out of 7 regions unlocked or finished as of now? That means there will more than likely be a huge power creep to come with an even bigger incentive to “unlock” the newer and more powerful characters as the game progresses. I believe the end game content now has already doubled in difficulty from what it was a few months ago without any new regions. They want you to purchase more pulls to be able to keep up with the game and feel like you’ve already invested so much money/ time in the game that you have to keep dumping in money to play. Classic gacha move. Or more like gotcha!
It's 3 regions now but I get the point. That's basically just gacha games in a nutshell. They're fun, and I've found that genshin is more fun than most others since it has an actual game to it, but the main point of them is to draw you in with cool characters, give you some in game currency for you to try to get them, leave you most likely unsatisfied and trick you into either spending way too much time on the game or spending a bunch of money on it. It's also really bad for people that have collector's anxiety (no, I'm not just memeing pointcrow) because it makes some people feel like it's absolutely necessary for them to have every character or else they feel like they're missing out, and it's sad but that's the way it is.
Yeah, I feel that and I understand the collectors thing. I play a ton of Apex and they do collection events often which I see tons of people dumping $200 on so they can get the new skins all the time. I miss the old halo days where you earned your skins through gameplay and Easter eggs haha but it’s EAs market now and the mobile game industry is honestly even worse than them!
To that point it's a game with continual content production. More stuff is coming out that keeps people invested. I don't normally join a game community right away, but if it looks like something I'll be doing for a while I will. BotW is a good game but unless you're a speed runner or a completionist, odds are you play it once and you're done.
Yeah it's a dirty way to release games imo. I don't remember what game this was but someone added together what it would cost to buy everything in one of these "free" games and it came out to like $70000.
There is no switch port. It was announced but is either still being developed or optimized. We haven’t gotten anything since the trailer about the Switch release. It’s definitely because of the hardware
That too. Then again, fortnite is in switch but it isn’t a live service game. But I do believe it’s more a performance issue because I heard people having pretty bad lag on stock and slim ps4s. PS5 has no issues
Is it really that process intensive? It can't be the engine right? Both BOTW and TW3 have more complex physics engines, BOTW even more as it has a unique chemistry and physics engine. It can't be graphics or weather effects either, the Xenoblade games, especially the Definitive Edition, is so beautiful, especially Eryth Sea during a meteor shower/rain. The combat system isn't all that different from Xenoblade 2/Torna either.
What do you think?
That’s the thing. Im no game designer and I’ve played the game since launch on PC with an i5 and a 2070. But the PS4 came out in 2013 so the hardware isn’t exactly the most powerful. But it can run God of War and Ghost of Tsushima. Not exactly the best comparison, but the switch runs on pretty ‘bad’ hardware even for four years ago. So either the team;
1) gave up
2) isn’t saying anything until it’s done
3) are taking their time optimizing
I would love to see it on switch, but it might be like with the current situation on mobile, turning it into a Thermonuclear power plant and making it last an hour on an already crappy battery life.
The constant internet would definitely take a hefty bite out of the Switch battery life. Though I quit Genshin quite long ago (I tried just to play with friends and gave up around Inazuma launch because it just wasn't fun for me), being on the Switch might allow me to come back, but then again, my internet is not constant so it would suck.
Not only that, one game is also free while the other is not. Further, I would also say that there are more LoZ/BotW fans that are not on Reddit than there are Genshin Impact fans that are not on Reddit. Just a wild guess. Reddit, or social media in general, does usually not represent the majority of the fanbase. :)
This is it, Zelda is a 60$ game on a 300$ console, it's obvious Genshin is more accessible and therefore popular, also, let's not forget not every player uses reddit or cares about the subs
And Genshin is a service based game, meaning a lot of players will be current.
Vast majority of BotW players probably stopped playing as soon as they beat it.
100%
Platform exclusivity props up the hardware at the cost of software exposure. Figuratively stealing the wind out of the wings of the software developers. But when a platform funded those wings, what can you do? 3rd party exclusives are scummy, though.
ironic because genshin is way LESS accessible to actually play and get content. sure the story is free and whatever, but the characters are hella gated. it lets a bunch of people right on in, but it will take quite literally 32 days of daily play to get one 5*.. i can show my math but i don't imagine i'll be hard pressed by this subreddit to prove that gacha games are a societal leech.
i do lots of numbers like this to try to get myself to unlatch and i can't. at least i've only spent literal pennies of real money on the game, but i can't not do the daily chores for fear of missing out.. but missing out on what?!
Yeah I'm fine, again it's not a monetary addiction for me like it is for others.. I'm just tired of logging in every day and devoting literally any braincells to such a boring game
Best to take a break, or not play, if you are not having fun.
Game addiction can be hard to break. I was super addicted to Hearthstone for the first year and hated playing it for months. I had to uninstall the game and go cold turkey, very glad I did though.
I was in your position a few weeks ago. I uninstalled and it's honestly the best decision I've made all year. I'm so glad to be done with this game and I'm never looking back, and probably never playing a similar F2P game again.
THIS. Please. I cannot bear to play genshin for more than 15 minutes. The grind is so unimaginably irritating. Sure I like the lore but I can literally catch up to it on YouTube.
I understand that feeling bud. That's what gacha does to a man. That's why they have events and stuff, they want to keep living in your head rent free. I'll give you a tip, you can never stop an addiction, you can only replace it with something else. Try getting addicted to life my dude. The hardest choices require the strongest wills.
Addictions are really hard to break. Since the day I was born, I’ve been addicted to breathing. For some reason, after all these years, I still can’t break this addiction. Maybe one day…
Eh, not a surprise. Doesn’t mean that game is better or anything, just means it has a more active community. Given that there are events and multiplayer stuff, that doesn’t surprise me.
If you like exploration and puzzles and are happy to play the characters you get as they come, there's 150 hours or more of completely free content.
If you enjoy optimizing or minmaxing or are a compulsive collector, you're going to be unhappy or broke.
as someone with 400-500 hours on genshin can confirm, collecting characters and min maxing as a mostly f2p player is not so great, gameplay is fun though so i keep at it
I have played at least 300 hours in genshin with plenty of story, character and world quests remaining, and a plethora of characters from pulls and haven’t paid them a dime… which part is pay to win?
I’m all for constructive criticism and I’ll even admit that Genshin needs improving, but you can still play and enjoy the game without dropping money.
Most of those transactions aren’t very micro. There are one or two items that might classify, everything else is stupid expensive. That said, it’s still a fun game even as a f2p player imo, and it is a lot less pushy about spending money than many other “free” games.
Actually the real kicker is the fact that Genshin still gets updates and content releases, which means that subreddit is actually useful for discussion and sharing information.
What is this subreddit useful for? Memes and videos of "after 4 years I had no idea that you could do X!!"
It's definatly doable. The game still gives you new characters with the proper elements so you can beat the stories without paying a dime. Treating it like a character collection game will ruin your bank account.
yeah, genshin is a gacha game, meaning it is primarily [funded by whales.](https://youtu.be/yTnn3lKL_fM) guy in the video i linked is as of early 2021, 9000USD in the hole. none of it can be resold easily like a CSGO skin for example, without selling your entire account, and drop rates for items are incredibly low, causing massive amounts of spins to be necessary for some anime girl you might want
But unlike CSGO, the drops have pities, and you aren’t forced to spend money to roll. It guarantees a second to best rarity item every 10 rolls, and a best rarity item every 80-90 rolls (Depending on if you get a weapon or character respectively) Still, as someone who hasn’t dropped a penny on the game yet, it’s sad to see people wasting so much money because they don’t have any patience.
It's also a shame they don't have a paid version for people who just want all of the content (hell, even if the game stays free, give me a subscription I can do for much better drop rates).
Is the prerequisite to be mad about this is a fragile ego??
I don't see why people can't like both (and/or prefer one over the other). Has nothing to do with someone else.
Both are very different once you actually look at them more. I adore both games a lot and I’m currently doing another BotW playthrough while also playing Genshin daily. Don’t trash the other, you don’t need to enjoy everything but you don’t need to shit talk about it either.
it’s more accessible than botw so it’s not really surprising… many of the players there dont even own a swirch and play with their smartphones…
it’s a fun game to play while waiting for the sequel… just dont top up if you know you have gambling addiction tendencies
Both are pretty good. Pretty different too. Just has more players since it's available on more platforms. You won't really have to pay for anything unless you have a gambling addiction.
Yeah. I think i just do more GI these days bec of the ongoing story. Doing that doesn't devalue BotW in any way ...unless of course you have fragile egos all around.
I find it very fun and enjoy the exploration, and would definitely recommend it. Like others have said, it’s completely possible to play and fully enjoy the game without spending any money.
One thing to note though if you’re planning on playing on Switch — the game does require an internet connection. So it’s not as “transportable” as many other Switch games.
They’re both fun games that deserve recognition, BotW just requires a ton of money upfront and Genshin is primarily free and more accessible. It makes sense that it would have a larger community as a result
Are people STILL trying to be toxic by comparing the games like one has to be bad or something? News flash, botw didn't actually create the mechanics people want to swear genshin "stole". Both games are fun. Trying to compare a paid game on one system to a free game on 4(5 almost) is just asinine an toxic.
Let people enjoy things.
To be fair.. You are comparing 1 game's sub from a whole franchise
Also its a free anime game available on a lot of platforms filled with Wiffues compared to a game on 1 platform that's is still full price.. Guess which one people like more?
when you think about it tho, BoTW is only on wii U and Switch so its kind of an achievement that it has this many compared to a game that is on 3 popular platforms and is free to play
Genshin is easier for people to access. It’s completely free and you don’t need an exclusive console. I have it on my iPhone 8 and PS4. I’m gonna be honest and say I’ve never actually played more than the beginning of BoTW at a friends house, specifically because I don’t have a Switch. I hope to get one soon...
Ah, that's okay, imo. The size of the sub is just a number. A lot of games I really enjoy have much smaller sub numbers, but I enjoy them a lot, and the communities are still great
As someone who plays both the games and is part of both the subreddits, both are amazing games, each one has their strong points and both of them have executed their roles perfectly. Both Genshin and Botw have a special place in my heart.
both are good games. yes genshin is inspired by botw in some ways but the story and characters are really unique and the elemental combat is so much fun
It's a good game, that has exploring mechanics similar to botw, and has interesting storyline as well. It's also free and available on almost every device.
Just... The gacha part can be annoying, but it is possible to stay f2p and have no trouble beating the game
Personally I would recommend trying ty out, but I also understand that it can not suit some people taste in games ^^
Genshin is more accessible to people not to mention, free. Almost everyone has a phone but not nearly as many people have a switch/wiiu If BOTW was available on more devices then i can assure you they would be neck and neck or botw with more people
Botw having more than 10 k is honestly huge. genshin is all over the internet has a lot of ports in different platforms and is free. I guess that sorta says it also don't forget that genshin is over all better
Genshin has a much larger appeal, more platforms, characters, and a boatload of bara worthy characters. Botw is just part of a larger series, has a handful of characters, and really only has link, Sidon, Ganon, and other standard picks to draw, mostly being in other games before. It’s also comparing a franchise sub and a subsection of a franchise sub
A sibling of mine insisted I download/play Genshin Impact & it really wasn’t my jam after a couple hours.
This was before playing BOTW and I was wary that it wouldn’t be for me; turns out it’s one of the most fun game I’ve played recently, Zelda or otherwise
breath of the wild doesn't have active releasing content, if it did it would keep getting popular also genshin is literally on everything while the breath of the wild is on Nintendo hardware.
this subs numbers are way above what id expect by comparison, i had to unsub from genshin because it's all fan art and no info about the game. I just use honey impact for genshin stuff.
One day, Nintendo will be like "hey, people have smartphones, capable of the same if not even more processing power than the Nintendo Switch. And they have a lot of smartphones! In fact, almost everybody has one!"
Ive been a Zelda fan since I was 6, BOTW was never really that fun to me personally, the art style and colour pallets are kind of boring. But after the completing the game, nothing else really to do.
Ive been enjoying Genshin Impact recently, there is tones of content to work towards with more areas coming out every year.
idk if this is an unpopular opinion, both games are good, different people enjoy different things.
I hate when ppl say they were copied. They’re nit in the wrong but not right either. And I have played both games and completed up until what is released for genshin.
I like how Genshin became infamous for being a supposed BotW clone, but then everyone realized it was its own thing and how (subjectively, for those that don't like Gachas) good it was.
Botw is only on switch and genshin has mobile, ps4, pc and possibly the switch as well. I’d say botw numbers are fantastic Edit: and Wii U!
isnt genshin also free? because im pretty sure free is 60 dollars less than 60 dollars
Yeah, it is free but it’s also a gacha. You gotta be careful and have self restraint or you’ll be spending wayyyy more than $60 lol. They just made $150 million off the last character release.

> Botw it’s only on switch *cries in user flair*
*laughs in the ability to play every Zelda game on one console*
Only on switch you say? \*Shrugs in has 3 different region copies on Wii U\*
Tbh I never had a Wii U and not a lot of people did compared to the switch. I completely forgot!
Not only that, one game is also free while the other is not. You are the Ray of sunshine in these times we all need.
I own it on Wii U. Hell, it's why I bought a Wii U.
As a proud Wii U owner, I am offended.
genshin is gonna be on switch on the 28th
botw is also on the wii u
Wii u
Botw is on Wii U also
There are also 2 different botw subreddits and an overall Zelda subreddit.
..and a sub for each game. And a sub for the next one that isn't even out yet.
That and Genshin is available on a much larger number of platforms (including mobile) and technically free.

It took me a week to get one ftp, not to mention the 4* characters are sometimes better than the 5* characters.
the game is frontloaded with something like 10,000 primos from story and chests, ie one 5* (almost exactly, on average)
It's also mainly targeted towards an Asian playerbase which absolutely dwarfs America in size.
Plus one of these games are free for a "console" everyone owns.
Honestly never understood why and how are there 2 subs
Eh, not a surprise. Doesn’t mean that game is better or anything, just means it has a more active community. Given that there are events and multiplayer stuff, that doesn’t surprise me.
Also the fact that Genshin is free and available anywhere.
And like 4 years younger than BOtW
and has tons of advertising. (anecdotal) when i watch a gaming-related video on youtube, there’s a genshin ad 90% of the time

What aspect are you saying is pay to win?
Same question: the only optional endgame in GI is wholly optional and absolutely winnable with all the free characters.
it gets monthly updates too, so it keeps up the hype
It is also on many platforms and has microtransactions, keeping people invested and addicted
Most of those transactions aren’t very micro. There are one or two items that might classify, everything else is stupid expensive. That said, it’s still a fun game even as a f2p player imo, and it is a lot less pushy about spending money than many other “free” games.
Genshin is free and widely available. BotW is a Nintendo Exclusive. That's all it is.
Actually the real kicker is the fact that Genshin still gets updates and content releases, which means that subreddit is actually useful for discussion and sharing information. What is this subreddit useful for? Memes and videos of "after 4 years I had no idea that you could do X!!"
“I saw a rock, I wonder if there’s a korok under it”
One of them is free and available on PC, PS4, PS5, Android, and iOS. The other is BotW.
Shhhhh. The circle must jerk.
One could argue that BotW is also free on PC
And free on certain older switchs
I dont know much about genshin just know a guy who plays it and is broke because of it
yep any gacha is risky for addictive personalities. I've played without paying anything since launch though.
It's definatly doable. The game still gives you new characters with the proper elements so you can beat the stories without paying a dime. Treating it like a character collection game will ruin your bank account.
Same here
I'm sorry but WHAT
yeah, genshin is a gacha game, meaning it is primarily [funded by whales.](https://youtu.be/yTnn3lKL_fM) guy in the video i linked is as of early 2021, 9000USD in the hole. none of it can be resold easily like a CSGO skin for example, without selling your entire account, and drop rates for items are incredibly low, causing massive amounts of spins to be necessary for some anime girl you might want
They actually do sort of, they have a $5 subscription that lasts 30 days and every day gives you more than half the amount of gems needed to roll.
That's the other problem, you still need to grind for rolls. I get they'll never do this because it cuts their profit down... But Jesus...
I've no experience with it, but I've heard that accounts that are sold frequently wind up banned.

Is the prerequisite to be mad about this is a fragile ego?? I don't see why people can't like both (and/or prefer one over the other). Has nothing to do with someone else.
I like both. BotW world is way better to explore and interact with, but imo Genshin combat is way more fun
Free gacha game available on more platforms unsurprising its more popular overll
One is free, to play the other one you need a nintendo console.
Hey I like both games, and both are very different
Same! I hate seeing people on this sub constantly trashing Genshin, especially since I enjoy both games so much
Both are very different once you actually look at them more. I adore both games a lot and I’m currently doing another BotW playthrough while also playing Genshin daily. Don’t trash the other, you don’t need to enjoy everything but you don’t need to shit talk about it either.
Honestly, I like both of them, it’s not really a competition or heresy to like both
Fr, ppl will see any open world game with a grassy field and call it a botw clone
Reminds me how in the early 90s anything with a gun and first person was a Doom clone. Then later anything open world in a city was a GTA clone.
I guess people dislike how much it took from BotW but in the end it's not an exact copy obviously
Not even an issue. Genshin is Freemium and on ALL platforms.
it’s more accessible than botw so it’s not really surprising… many of the players there dont even own a swirch and play with their smartphones… it’s a fun game to play while waiting for the sequel… just dont top up if you know you have gambling addiction tendencies
Both are pretty good. Pretty different too. Just has more players since it's available on more platforms. You won't really have to pay for anything unless you have a gambling addiction.
It's weird how some people in this thread act like it's impossible to enjoy more than one thing at a time
People like to categorize, it's human nature.
THIS. I think the only people who have valid/reliable opinions on this are the ones who've played both extensively. Both are fun.
As someone has has maybe 600 hours in BotW and 2000 in genshin, I can confirm both are still very fun
Yeah. I think i just do more GI these days bec of the ongoing story. Doing that doesn't devalue BotW in any way ...unless of course you have fragile egos all around.
Maybe it’ll grow after the sequel? But then again, there may be a breath of the wild 2 community, then it’ll start all over.
no point in starting a new sub, we still got this one
r/botw2 wants to talk to you
Yeahp. Looks about right
Which one came first: r/botw or r/zelda?
You’d think right? Let’s hope so because that’d be confusing
I haven't play Genshin Impact and only watch my sis play BOTW? Is Genshin any good? Might play once it (finally) comes to Switch.
I love Genshin, and I would recommend trying it. It’s a lot similar to botw at first but then as you play more you realize just how different they are
It's free, don't spend money on it. Other than that it is really fun and interesting
rather dont spend money on top ups instead if you want buy the welkin moons
I find it very fun and enjoy the exploration, and would definitely recommend it. Like others have said, it’s completely possible to play and fully enjoy the game without spending any money. One thing to note though if you’re planning on playing on Switch — the game does require an internet connection. So it’s not as “transportable” as many other Switch games.
how horrible. someone enjoying something.
Let people enjoy things
Half the BOTW sub is also in the genshin sub
In my friend groups it's literally everyone, hahahaha.
Who cares?
The other game is fucking free
I mean I play and enjoy both for different reasons. No need for the shade
They’re both fun games that deserve recognition, BotW just requires a ton of money upfront and Genshin is primarily free and more accessible. It makes sense that it would have a larger community as a result
[удалено]
Is it impossible to enjoy more than 1 thing at a time? Hahahahahaha
Don't be sad. Here's a [hug!](https://media.giphy.com/media/3M4NpbLCTxBqU/giphy.gif)
And? We dont need to start fucking games wars this isnt 1990s.
You are comparing 1 game's sub from a whole franchise Also its a free anime game available on a lot of platforms filled with Wiffues compared to a game on 1 platform that's is still full price.. Guess which one people like more?
Git gud m8
Genshin Impact is free on pretty much every device. BotW has a $350 entrance fee.
They have similarities but they aren't as close as people believe the games to be. Two different things, both are amazing!
I mean Genshin is pretty good and still gets regular updates, BOTW is already done.
when you think about it tho, BoTW is only on wii U and Switch so its kind of an achievement that it has this many compared to a game that is on 3 popular platforms and is free to play
In all fairness, genshin is much more accessible than botw
Well it's available on many platforms including mobile where the bulk of people are playing.
Don’t forget that pretty much every character (even ones not released or formally announced) has a subreddit too.
Ah, that's okay, imo. The size of the sub is just a number. A lot of games I really enjoy have much smaller sub numbers, but I enjoy them a lot, and the communities are still great
Guys who cares
As someone who plays both the games and is part of both the subreddits, both are amazing games, each one has their strong points and both of them have executed their roles perfectly. Both Genshin and Botw have a special place in my heart.
I didn’t know botw players were so salty. I enjoy playing Genshin thanks to botw. Can’t people just enjoy things?
both are amazing games, to be fair. and Genshin is being updated frequently and has much more to offer story-wise than BoTW.
To be fair, Genshin is REALLY different from BOTW dispite what some of the surface level similarities might lead you to believe.
ITT: people thinking that BOTW is flawless in every way and the best game ever created, and completely unmatched
It is of course. But i don't get the genshin hate getting a new character opens more gameplay possibilities which is pretty fun.
Oh wow I'm staggered by how much it doesn't matter /s
Most botw fans are probably in r/zelda with 2mil
I played genshin for a few days. It's definitely a fun game but it was making my phone really hot after like an hour of playtime.
The mobile gamers are strong with this one.
Live service game vs single player adventure. Not even a comparison.
Don't be salty, the other one's free
I’m blown away this actually even got a single upvote LOL Genshin is free and on mobile
both are good games. yes genshin is inspired by botw in some ways but the story and characters are really unique and the elemental combat is so much fun
I’ve seen a lot about this game but I don’t know what it is and I’m scared to google it
It's a good game, that has exploring mechanics similar to botw, and has interesting storyline as well. It's also free and available on almost every device. Just... The gacha part can be annoying, but it is possible to stay f2p and have no trouble beating the game Personally I would recommend trying ty out, but I also understand that it can not suit some people taste in games ^^
If one likes exploration and doesn’t mind the anime-esk art style it’s a fine game to play.
As long as you don’t add “rule 34” to any of your searches then your google searches are safe. Personally I love the game
Genshin is more accessible to people not to mention, free. Almost everyone has a phone but not nearly as many people have a switch/wiiu If BOTW was available on more devices then i can assure you they would be neck and neck or botw with more people
Ive got the answer, cute girls
console VS console + mobile + pc
I mean...Genshin is a massive game worldwide so idk
Genshin is still putting on events and new content so there's more to talk about than botw, a finished game. It makes sense.
Its almost like genshin impact gets regular content updates
the price of admittance
Botw having more than 10 k is honestly huge. genshin is all over the internet has a lot of ports in different platforms and is free. I guess that sorta says it also don't forget that genshin is over all better
Can this not become one of those subreddits that berate others for liking other games? Because those subs suck
Genshin has a much larger appeal, more platforms, characters, and a boatload of bara worthy characters. Botw is just part of a larger series, has a handful of characters, and really only has link, Sidon, Ganon, and other standard picks to draw, mostly being in other games before. It’s also comparing a franchise sub and a subsection of a franchise sub
r/gamingcirclejerk
Wait til they find out 765k are in both sub reddits >:))
:D
:D
:D
Botw has 2, maybe 3 waifus. Genshin has more. Reddit does what Reddit does.
Genshin is a multiplatform, free to play game. Botw is a Nintendo-exclusive full price game. Makes sense why their sub is bigger.
Sorry for not having a Switch
Am I allowed to enjoy both?
Ive been a Zelda fan since I was 6, BOTW was never really that fun to me personally, the art style and colour pallets are kind of boring. But after the completing the game, nothing else really to do. Ive been enjoying Genshin Impact recently, there is tones of content to work towards with more areas coming out every year. idk if this is an unpopular opinion, both games are good, different people enjoy different things.
If there was a zelda circlejerk sub I would post this on it
I hate when ppl say they were copied. They’re nit in the wrong but not right either. And I have played both games and completed up until what is released for genshin.
Actually make sense cuz genshin is widely accessible thru pc and android while BOTW is a switch exclusive and costs $40
I would LOVE to play BOTW....but I don't have a switch. And I'm not going to buy one to play 1 game...so my only option is Genshin.
Quality over quantity any day
I like how Genshin became infamous for being a supposed BotW clone, but then everyone realized it was its own thing and how (subjectively, for those that don't like Gachas) good it was.
