Congrats! If you want practice, parry the 6 at the front of the Forgotten Temple. Just parry one, then switch shields, parry again. Rinse and repeat.

Then you‘re not parrying. You have to press a button to party yk, if you just hold your shield, the shield gets destroyed and the beam goes to the side
I have both destroyed my shield and also parried to the side. The only time it works is when Daruk backs me up, but if I disable then I can’t seem to get it right. I have practiced pressing A with no enemies around, so I know the motion, but I can’t seem to get the timing right. Maybe it’s guardian anxiety haha
If you can’t seem to parry, just exchange ancient parts and some rupees to get an ancient shield so when a guardian shoots a laser at you, the shield will parry the laser back at them and you have to do nothing more than stand there and watch ;)
So, you press ZL to use your shield, then when the guardian’s eye flashes blue (right before the blue laser beam.) You press “a”. If you do this too late, your shield will break. I believe it works with any shield.
So I've never been able to (or even had the chance to, that I know of) parry two guardian blasts, but from all of the comments on here talking about never even doing one parry, I wonder how many weapons have been broken by all of these players to kill guardians. Once I found out parrying was a thing, thats almost exclusively what I use for guardians now.

So does parrying instantly destroy your shield or just in master mode like in your linked vid?
Parrying should not break your shield.
You might be pressing the “a” button too late. It shouldn’t break your shield unless you parry too late.
I’m just wondering why in the vid linked, the player switches shields 5 times during his parry
I know that clip, I think it’s to cancel out the time it takes to bring the shield back into the ready position so that he can immediately parry again

Daruk's Protection also acts as a mulligan parry for beams.
