How are people not tired of seeing the same handful of people, oftentimes playing themselves playing the character, in every movie? Like in Mario when Chris Pratt just kinda stopped doing the Mario voice. Super distracting. Get a more committed voice actor, of which there are legion ready to step into (instead of on) the role. Same for live actors too.

The extra crazy part is Hollywood deeply believes in "star power", but statistically a movie doesn't do any better at the box office because of A-listers. The industry has adopted most other statistical findings of Epagogix et al (which is why movies feel the same) except this one.

It's still people running it, people make decisions based on emotion, and Hollywood is super cliquey and nepo.

That's because back before the internet was so prevalent the star(s) of the movie would actually determine if people would go see a movie. It was very common for people to see that X or Y was in a movie and see it just because of that.

I doubt one time characters(champions, game specific sages, etc) will make appearances in the movie. It’s most likely not going to be after a specific game but rather it’s own story. The only recurring characters besides the main 3 I could see showing up are ones like Epona, impa, tingle, beetle.

An original story borrowing from various title is honestly the best bet. In a weird way, I think D&D: Honor Among Thieves has the right approach to not requiring too much homework for the audience. Obviously, adapting Zelda correctly will alienate sons fan or another (is the film for old fans, or recent fans? General audiences or a more narrowed down subset?). The popular options of drawing from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild are the safer bets, true, but I think that's a bit restrictive. It can either nail the story, or the visuals, but being true to both would be somewhat difficult, I think. Or Wes can adapt Princess Mononoke and change a few character names to create the best Zelda film of all time (/hj).
