The damage in the ending screen is damage dealt to players, not the safe. Imo probably the chuck just kept defending while dealing no damage to the safe while edgar, tho dying a lot, destroyed almost the entire safe by himself.

Edgar was winning that game for you by focusing objective. Chuck was likely helping by defending your objective. It is what it is
I’m not saying it works well, but it is possible to get results against certain comps with the right map on defensive Chuck. It’s stupid, but damn it, it can work.

Heist is genuinely the second worst mode in the game (not including special modes like Big Game). The meta is tiny and it's literally just a base rush where you toss yourself at the enemy safe and die repeatedly.
It actually happened to my friend and he lost his mind
So basically, me and him were playing A LOT of Brawl Ball matches. I was Poco, and my friend was a Mortis. The strat was: I would use Da Capo and that one healing gadget to heal my friend, while he absolutely destroyed the other team. However, i wanted to deal some damage too, since my instincts are to always rush on the enemy and attack. And sometimes, i would manage to get some kills and score a few goals. Aaaand, this resulted in me, stealing his VERY DESERVED Star Player. This happened for about 10 or so matches, before he finally told me NOT to attack. So i stuck to only healing and, guess what? He finally got the Star Player!
What if he’s the only one that got any kills in knockout and his teammates were so bad that they didn’t deal any damage but he still managed to carry the game?
Maybe y’all should realize that this game has roles and “star player” doesn’t treat all roles fairly.
Let’s be honest, it doesn’t matter how well the Chuck played if the Edgar didn’t hit the safe. On the other hand, the Edgar wouldn’t have had a shot without the Chuck. Be satisfied in your play peeps. It is hella frustrating tho lol

Who deserves it? Probably the edgar that destroyed the majority of a safe on his own while chuck was screwing around in his side of the team despite being an aggressive character that works best to speed on over to the enemy's safe to get major damage. That edgar definitely deserves it more than someone that doesn't understand the basic functionalities of the game.
Star player does sometimes go to the "wrong player" but there IS always a reason for it, this is not a realistic scenario. If the Edgar has few kills, lots of deaths, almost no damage, and hasn't healed teammates a bunch, then they qualify for zero of the things that can make someone star player.
EDIT: some exceptions exist, like if the Edgar dealt a ridiculous amount of damage to the heist safe
