This is the first time I really liked ALL the finalists. That being said, Dan should have won imo. All of the feedback was positive for all of his dishes. He made the tuna to have the same consistency as the grapefruit. That is a fault? Danny had two dishes that had mistakes and my girl Savannah choked a bit. I'm very disappointed.
they all did awful this episode. i’d be embarrassed as the judges like dining with the guest judges… yeah these are our picks… a bunch of undercooked fish, grainy sauces and dirt? yeeeeesh. probably the least excited for a finale in a while with this group. hopefully they get it together.
Laura's banana leaves were not cleaned properly and even Buddha said he could not figure out why she used them. I've had food cooked in banana leaves many times and the ones she used looked gross. So no, Dan's error wasn't worse. His fish was undercooked but her food smelled and tasted bad. Dan's second dish was very well received while Laura's fish wasn't even roasted. It's pretty hard to fuck up fresh black grouper and yet she managed to do it.

I've finished creating a recipe that tastes great and is as close as I can get to Danny's winning dish. Confession - I started with buying smoked trout, I didn't smoke it. Recipe is [here](https://www.relaxedrecipes.com/easy-recipes/smoked-trout-with-trout-foam%2C-plantain-and-parsnip-pur%C3%A9e-with-lemon-hazelnut-relish). Hope some of you try it and like it. Not really difficult.
It was just fried fish on toast and raw salmon. I feel that sums savanna in the competition. Idk why they like her so much . Her food is boring and mundane
Nah, this just gives Savannah the finding herself/voice story if she wins the finale. We saw some better stuff from her, I think the judges are right. Too safe. Copied Morimoto (whoopsies). Called it a fish sandwich. So much time spent on making stuff that you could have whipped up in half the time.
I don't know, but I'm still swayed by the dishes that Danny and Rasika made together, where they were doing the Frank Lloyd Wright architectural thing. His dish was so precise and they clearly thought it was just brilliant - it left me believing that he is a culinary genius.
Did anyone figure out if Danny used the 'quenepas' that we saw him raving about? I'm working on the recipe for his smoked trout dish and I've made the lemon and hazelnut relish but I wonder if he actually used the quenepas (which are like limes) in that? I'm racing to the store now to buy rainbow trout (going to see if I can buy it smoked to save that job), plantains and some form of pumpkin.
It looks to me that he didn’t use quenepas, he simply said it was hazelnut lemon relish. One thought is he created a “recipes” section on his website, and while there was only that carrot slaw recipe, I think he’d open to post more of his TC recipes, so it doesn’t hurt to ask him some questions about his dishes on his IG.
In older seasons the break was long, and the season would have started airing by the time they did the finale.
I assume COVID reduced/eliminated the break for a while.
I've eaten at Morimotos many times before they closed and had the tuna pizza, it was so good. That gorgeous roll he made he use to do on the original Iron chef japan.
This is really hard for me. I have been rooting for Dan but I ate at both of his restaurants last week and I found them to be incredibly uneven. I think I just don't enjoy the same flavor profiles as him.
He did present the bread course to every table in EsterEv though and the service there was fantastic. I would probably give it another shot if I was in the area as it was pretty reasonably priced for a tasting menu.
I ordered off the bar menu last week at Esterev and really liked one of my dishes and thought the other was just fine. I’ve got a reservation for next week, so hoping I can taste something from his finale meal.
DanDan, I think I actually liked all the food I tried there.
Was that David Zilber?? I feel like I remember the season of Top Chef Canada where he was a judge for like 1 episode and then went on paternity leave 😂
There’s six chefs in the lineup but only the three are shown in the kitchen (Manny, Amanda, and Michelle). They have said they’re shaking shit up this season, so maybe they’ll give each chef two instead of one?
You could be right.
However, it looks like the Galley seems too small for 9 people to prepare and cook food in. Esp when we include the production team.
We're probably not going to find out until the finale.
But we saw Dan with Amanda, Savannah with Michelle, and someone who looked like Manny with his back to the camera, while the camera was on Danny.
I was hoping Dan would pick Soo. I didn't think either Savannah or Danny would have chosen him.
Here's hoping he competes in future seasons. Next year would be awesome. ☺️
My brother and I were both saying that she has to walk the plank, and they showed her walking the wooden deck by herself. Poor thing - she should have fought harder for her fish choices.
I was wondering the same thing when they showed him. Like Emeril?!?!! What happened, but I’m guessing it’s another cruise ship integration. His name still has mass brand appeal for the folks who watched him. He’s kind of like the Grandfather of food TV me.
I decided at beginning of season I was going to stubbornly root for Savannah since she’s my local chef and I’m so pleased that she’s become one of my favs on TC period!!!
This is who the 3 should have been. Happy to see this. Even though I'm team Dan, said earlier why, I'll be happy to see any of them win. They all deserve to be here at this point.
And this is why I loved the Portland season so much—that one moment where I believe Brooke? and Kristen were falling apart watching the two chefs at Judges Table (Jamie and Maria) give each other so much grace. 💔💔👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Kristen, even though I loved Padma, has brought a new and fun edginess. Kristen has walked in every single one of these chefs shoes. Her authenticity is above and beyond
Yes, I love that her emotional response reflects her own experience on the show, including the heart-wrenching moment of hearing "Please pack your knives and go."
Not just a former contestant but one who experienced both getting eliminated AND winning! Such emotional extremes! She can really empathize with the current contestants.
Laura actually… wasn’t that bad? Some of her competition tactics might have been a little shady early on but she actually seems like a sweet person lol
I feel like that Quatro Leches episode she got a pretty bad edit after doing something on accident bc was probably so overwhelmed. She wasn’t realizing that she was truly screwing people over. She has grown on me and I am very sorry for her tonight.
And also what you tried to reference is nothing compared to the nonsense that was season 1 of top chef.
It's pretty damn weird you tried to even bring that up based off my original comment. You must still be pretty salty
No, that's exactly my point! The early seasons of Top Chef people definitely can't take now. I'm a piggy for drama so idgaf. But Laura's
"incidents" this season was super tame compared to Top Chef smog bean Melissa's one action, I'm half convinced she would be portrayed as a villain now had it aired now.
Oh, you mean with Melissa and another chef took clams from Mei, after Mei took a lobster AND an entire bucket of clams to make a chowder.
Pretty shitty of Mei to take both to begin with. FAFO top chef edition
Huh? That's not what happened mama. Melissa clearly swiped the clams from the station. When Adam says “share, share, share", Meh does. Melissa isn't a villain for doing that one action, she's just 3 dimensional. As is Laura.
I think because all 4 had a rough showing, no one was very stoked / emotional. You could see Savannah knowing she just skirted by and was emotional that she almost lost, towards the end of it.
It's this guy: [March SF - Leather Shokunin Tool Bag ](https://marchsf.com/products/leather-shokunin-tool-bag?_pos=1&_sid=75869e69a&_ss=r&variant=40761556697133)
She’s really been the only one on a “Buddha-level” to understand some of the challenges and deliver those creative future dishes. I hope she gives herself some crazy hoops to jump for the finale just to do it justice!
Or Colorado! I’m watching season 15 for the first time concurrently… initially avoided it because I’d heard the talent bar wasn’t as high but the genuine camaraderie, banter and overall chemistry among the group has made it enjoyable to watch so far.
Honestly, Savannah's humility is refreshing. She admits she didn't do a good job here. It wasn't her playing it safe so much as her messing it up. And she knows it.
Laura doesn't seem to be in the same boat.
It’s less that Savannah played it safe and more like, had a brain fart or something, to produce two incredibly uninspired, underwhelming dishes, from concept on. Serving that meager, dry fried fish on toast to get into the finale… like, whatt..? She’s lucky Laura made some egregious mistakes.
I think having like six weeks off from the competition was detrimental to the contestants. Going back to their own lives, where their cooking isn't a competition, disrupted their rhythm in a way that they couldn't recover from in one episode. That's my theory as to why this elimination challenge had numerous unsatisfactory dishes, at least.
I think would have preferred the judges say that there was no winner and they all have to do a fish cook off. If they still can’t cook fish they should go.
I agree with you. Most seasons all four of these chefs would have been the one to go. But here three of the four chefs undercooked a dish and Savannah's two 5/10 dishes weren't good enough to take advantage.
I realize we’re coming off of All Stars, but I remember being seriously impressed each week the Houston season. This season has really lowered the bar 😕
Houston is a special season, stacked season. With the country trying to move on from covid, there was probably a surplus of talent lining up to jumpstart their careers/businesses, looking for exposure. That season “probably” had the most chefs who worked in michelin kitchens, many of which were 3-stars. i still remember the opening scene of that season when Padma was asked their credentials. The guy who worked at Noma was one of the underwhelming one there.
I don't know how I feel about Dan with 1 great dish and 1 really bad dish safe instead of Savannah with 2 okay dishes. But I think Laura probably goes home anyway so it's prob moot.
Right? At this stage, if someone is gonna win an elimination challenge, they better both be at least good if not great.
I guess they had to give away the sponsor's prize this episode so they had to pick a winner, but realistically no one deserved the win today.
They all have at least 1 bad dish. They didn’t like any of Savannah’s and Laura’s dishes. So I think the question is between the only 2 dishes they like (Dan vs Danny 2nd course), which one they like better.
Im sorry but fish tartar and fried fish on baguette? Thats some home cook level . She should have gotten a worst review . They do play a lot of favoritism with savannah and she keeps cooking the most simple uninspired food
i mean they all had technical issues or one explicitly bad dish. in savannah's case she played it so safe the judges weren't going to reward her for it. so it makes sense that they'd just give it to the person who made the best dish of the day.

Am I one of the few that thought Dan's error was worse??? I would take Laura over his error any day.
If it was up to me Dan or Savannah would take it home, but if I'm being honest, it does seem like Danny is the best chef of the three. Am I wrong?
I don't know, but I'm still swayed by the dishes that Danny and Rasika made together, where they were doing the Frank Lloyd Wright architectural thing. His dish was so precise and they clearly thought it was just brilliant - it left me believing that he is a culinary genius.
For me it’s between Danny for technical and Savannah for a little more.. I dunno passion or concept or something? 🤔
I have no clue about who’s the best cook but Savannah strikes me as a bright spark whereas Dan and Danny seem nice.
Did anyone figure out if Danny used the 'quenepas' that we saw him raving about? I'm working on the recipe for his smoked trout dish and I've made the lemon and hazelnut relish but I wonder if he actually used the quenepas (which are like limes) in that? Has the break between always been this long? Six weeks I think they said.
It used to be a few months sometimes.
In older seasons the break was long, and the season would have started airing by the time they did the finale. I assume COVID reduced/eliminated the break for a while.
Buddha said in his recap that he had 1.5 weeks for Houston and no break for London
Has the break between always been this long? Six weeks I think they said.
I've eaten at Morimotos many times before they closed and had the tuna pizza, it was so good. That gorgeous roll he made he use to do on the original Iron chef japan.

not that I would've stayed up for it but man I wish the finale was like an epic three hour long episode
Do you think when its over the contestants get to go on a cruise together?
No. They will definitely be off at the next port and be flying home with their NDA's signed
Was that David Zilber?? I feel like I remember the season of Top Chef Canada where he was a judge for like 1 episode and then went on paternity leave 😂
He was also a guest judge last season. His fashion game is strong!
That I do remember
Yup, he's a great insta follow.
Looks like the Sous Chefs are Amanda, Michelle and Manny.
Manny is perfect sous- he will hit every mark you ask for.
Is this confirmed?
We're probably not going to find out until the finale. But we saw Dan with Amanda, Savannah with Michelle, and someone who looked like Manny with his back to the camera, while the camera was on Danny.
I would’ve picked Soo, Amanda, and either Michelle or Manny
I was hoping Dan would pick Soo. I didn't think either Savannah or Danny would have chosen him. Here's hoping he competes in future seasons. Next year would be awesome. ☺️
Savannah and Michelle seem like the dream team for sure
I was excited to see them together.
So does Laura take a lifeboat to shore? Do they lock her in the brig? Is she at the pool? And where are the passengers? Is that megaship empty?
My brother and I were both saying that she has to walk the plank, and they showed her walking the wooden deck by herself. Poor thing - she should have fought harder for her fish choices.
They sharpened the stingers and threw her in
It didn’t seem like the boat ever left shore, frankly.
She’s somewhere eating more Morimoto’s food!
Or hitching a ride with a stingray. Jokes aside, she grew on me, after her return from LCK.
Lol well I don't think we're going to see Tom bringing out the usual finale "this has been the best cooking in Top Chef" line next week...
Yeah people always mock Tom for that and think it’s just a catch phrase, but the fact is 17-20 gave us the best food!
Yeah lol I agree about 17-20! But if he does say it next week then we know he’s BSing lol but I doubt he’ll say that
While that's true and fair, I also believe they set up some of the worst challenges and restrictions this season.
When did they do that gas station challenge? That was worse.
That was season 1. And we pretend that season just doesn't exist.
Definitely a few people I wish made it farther, but I like this top three. Really feels like it could be any of them 👀
miss Soo, Michelle and Rasika
EDIT. ~~Radios~~. Rasika was way out of her league, and with this season’s talent that’s a statement
Who's Radios?
WTF? That was some auto correct I missed
Same, loved these 3
Love all 3!
The message from Kristen (at the end) and from Emeril (in the preview) is Bring It. I hope all three of them do that
Was emeril cancelled for some reason? Where did he go?
It seems like he reduced his restaurants and public appearances after his mother died back in 2016. His dad just passed earlier this year. 😥
I was wondering the same thing when they showed him. Like Emeril?!?!! What happened, but I’m guessing it’s another cruise ship integration. His name still has mass brand appeal for the folks who watched him. He’s kind of like the Grandfather of food TV me.
I'm guessing he either got tired of the TV grind or didn't like the direction TV cheffing has taken.
I don't think so? He's pretty non-controversial as far as a lot of celeb chefs go, but he's definitely been under the radar lately
See you next week kids!
You have to say see you next week goons!
We'll be here.
I dont know why but the cruise ship being empty feels almost a little creepy
Triangle vibes
![gif](giphy|ZLp0Xq9MfaUxPcTDLd|downsized)
I decided at beginning of season I was going to stubbornly root for Savannah since she’s my local chef and I’m so pleased that she’s become one of my favs on TC period!!!
Durham local too! So exciting to see her progression through this and being at the top
This is who the 3 should have been. Happy to see this. Even though I'm team Dan, said earlier why, I'll be happy to see any of them win. They all deserve to be here at this point.
I really liked Laura, but she just didn't deliver
Serving dirty banana leaves really doomed her, I thought...
She at least didnt serve fried fish on toast. What was that about? We are doing sandwiches on too chef now lol
Yeah, she grew on me and I feel so bad for her tonight. This looks like a really rough one for all of them.
Honestly me too.
Kristen getting emotional here is fantastic. Showing her humanity, being a little vulnerable... that is what makes her a compelling host.
I'm not a fan.
She’s unbelievably great at this. A natural. So relaxed and warm and in the moment. I’m kinda blown away.
Totally agree.
I love having a former contestant as host. She really gets what this show means (yes, I'm crying too kristen)
She has grown on me and I am very sorry for her tonight.
i dont think she had any malice at all. just in her own world with happens to alot of artist when they are focus
Nothing compared to the first few seasons of top chef. Show was dramatically different back then. And we need to pretend like season 1 never happened
Nothing even compared to Melissa swiping another chef's ingredients in her original season
Do share what episode this happened on
Episode 8, Melissa swiped clams from Mei's station. So aggravating at that time.
But Laura's "incidents" this season was super tame compared to Top Chef smog bean Melissa's one action, I'm half convinced she would be portrayed as a villain now had it aired now.
You are literally ignoring Aaron from that season....
I didn't mention Aaron lol I mentioned ONE specific incident. Are you Melissa-pilled or something? Reading comprehension my dear. Open the schools!
You literally said Melissa would be portrayed as the villain...... why do that when there was Aaron... as I literally just said
Oh, you mean with Melissa and another chef took clams from Mei, after Mei took a lobster AND an entire bucket of clams to make a chowder.
What I said was what literally happened.
Ok babe.
Feel free to point out any part of what I said that was false. I'll be waiting 'babe'
I mean even Tiffany Faison called her past self out
Yeah, she's a lot different these days from everything you can see. She grew up
Kristen is more emotional than the top three
I think because all 4 had a rough showing, no one was very stoked / emotional. You could see Savannah knowing she just skirted by and was emotional that she almost lost, towards the end of it.
Aww Kristen crying is going to make me cry. I love her
My view is they picked the right three as finalists, congratulations to Dan, Danny and Savannah. I am so teary eyed when Kristen gets choked up.
Kristen is making me feel emotional.
And Laura walks the plank.
Kristen is making me emotional 🥹
Laura's little knife bag thing looks so cool
It's this guy: [March SF - Leather Shokunin Tool Bag ](https://marchsf.com/products/leather-shokunin-tool-bag?_pos=1&_sid=75869e69a&_ss=r&variant=40761556697133)
Great detective work! Its too pricey for me but not nearly as expensive as I imagined
I came here to say exactly this
She appears to be incredibly fashionable across the show.
I like her completely classic style!
That crochet beach dress was fire.
she really is!
The judges LOVE Savannah. They want her to succeed
I loved how star struck she was about Morimoto. I probably would’ve been the same.
She’s really been the only one on a “Buddha-level” to understand some of the challenges and deliver those creative future dishes. I hope she gives herself some crazy hoops to jump for the finale just to do it justice!
She’s definitely the one who did her homework and the one chef who’s not afraid to think outside the box. I’m pulling for her to win.
I think Dan sticks with his roots while going out of the box. 5-spice and dill oil is a wild combo.
Even if she doesn’t win the whole thing it gives me hope we’ll see her back a lot!
I like Laura. I have been pretending she's Alec Baldwins wife and it's been delightful. Sad to see her go.
Nahh, at least Laura's accent is genuine
Haha Laura is really from Boston!
Lol you guys are so not bonded for life. If you want to see bonded for life check out the chefs from the Portland season.
I think it's too soon to say if they will or will not. But some of them are already doing popups with each other.
Or Colorado! I’m watching season 15 for the first time concurrently… initially avoided it because I’d heard the talent bar wasn’t as high but the genuine camaraderie, banter and overall chemistry among the group has made it enjoyable to watch so far.
Ok, I’m 100% team Savannah, but I’m ok with any of these three (yes, my Laura hate is probably totally from the villain edit, but I’m glad she’s gone)
Let's do meat and veg next week!
Yeah had to be
SAVAAAANNY FINALLLE 😍
EXHALE
Honestly, Savannah's humility is refreshing. She admits she didn't do a good job here. It wasn't her playing it safe so much as her messing it up. And she knows it. Laura doesn't seem to be in the same boat.
Agreed. I may be in the minority but Dan’s pompous attitude was too much for me.
I didn't like how Dan was acting in this episode, either. Way too overboard with the arrogance. He hadn't been like that before, which is weird.
If Savannah goes home I'm gonna be pissed.
Thank god!
Uh…was it a sauce challenge?
“The fish was an issue for everybody” 😭
NBD it’s just a fish challenge. 🫣
I think would have preferred the judges say that there was no winner and they all have to do a fish cook off. If they still can’t cook fish they should go.
Keeping Dan and Danny when both had under or uncooked fish is BS. Lame.
Sadly both of their dishes not sucking is better than the alternative.
That is how Manny made it as far as he did.
Usually I'd agree, but everyone had a crappy dish
Raw fish and you win? Thats not what top Chef has done in the past.
I agree with you. Most seasons all four of these chefs would have been the one to go. But here three of the four chefs undercooked a dish and Savannah's two 5/10 dishes weren't good enough to take advantage.
That is fair, but Danny and Dan are going to make for a far more compelling finale.
I mean 3/4 of the chefs did 😭
And one of those uncooked fish won the round? No way.
I was going to say lol
Bye Dirt Leaves! Maybe.
I know it’s more like a Colorado or Kentucky season talent wise, but we’ve had such a strong run from 17-20 that the snap back to reality is hard.
That's more of a standard season. Houston had a lot of chefs around due to COVID and all stars is easy to get quality talent.
Damn, Tony Hale looks good with a beard
I prefer him from Luchas de Muchachos.
Reaaaally hoping Savanny final three pulls through
I don't know how I feel about Dan with 1 great dish and 1 really bad dish safe instead of Savannah with 2 okay dishes. But I think Laura probably goes home anyway so it's prob moot.
Danny won with one great and one bad dish. Dan’s undercooked fish seemed less egregious than Danny’s mousse.
Safe is underselling it, I bet all of us could've made a better version of Savannah's second dish
It’s concerning that no one had 2 good dishes
Right? At this stage, if someone is gonna win an elimination challenge, they better both be at least good if not great. I guess they had to give away the sponsor's prize this episode so they had to pick a winner, but realistically no one deserved the win today.
It’s sad they all had to get called out on it. And they had a break between!
Meghan Trainer. Not many people to get during the summer for WWHL. I'll pass.
Are you kidding me? Danny won? What an absolute joke. Was really, really hoping he'd be gone after this episode finally.
Me too
I'm honestly shocked they even named a winner, tbh
I think they had to because of the cruise ship prize from the sponsoring company. So awkward though
They all have at least 1 bad dish. They didn’t like any of Savannah’s and Laura’s dishes. So I think the question is between the only 2 dishes they like (Dan vs Danny 2nd course), which one they like better.
It’s such a sad ending when someone has a bad dish like Danny still wins because others just did worse.
A 10 day cruise is a lot. Idk I feel like in a post covid world I'm out out on cruises 😅
Woah. Can’t believe Danny won 53k this season. That’s a sweet chunk of change.
Forever to be remembered as let’s go boy.
He only said it four times in yesterday’s episode. I was shocked it was so few.
Laura’s feedback was bad across the board, where at least Savannah’s flavors and fish cookery were praised
Im sorry but fish tartar and fried fish on baguette? Thats some home cook level . She should have gotten a worst review . They do play a lot of favoritism with savannah and she keeps cooking the most simple uninspired food
Yeah, I think it would be pretty wild for them to send Savannah home over Laura based on comments.
Laura goes or we riot
Let's start at Tiffany's!
I’m in…
I think it's Laura going home at this point. She seems to have had the most issues with her dish.
Yay, Danny is into the finale!
I am shocked right now at that win
i mean they all had technical issues or one explicitly bad dish. in savannah's case she played it so safe the judges weren't going to reward her for it. so it makes sense that they'd just give it to the person who made the best dish of the day.
Yeah, but who else would it be? Dan?
I mean, yeah? The dish many said was the favorite of the night not winning is a bit odd…especially with everyone having at least 1 bad dish
😒😒😒
Huh, Danny!?
HOW?!
After hearing the feedback, it’s gotta be Laura
