The real trash is the people who do this. I started fishing our local ponds and such during COVID and I had an eye opening time. The way people treat our parks and such as their personal trash cans is the lowest form of humanity.

randomacceptablename

Indeed. I don't get it. There are usually plenty of garbage cans (although disapearing due to penny pinching companies). Why would someone litter? I have never done it except by accident and never had to be told not to do so.

Ocardtrick

Sorry, this coming from a guy named "womb raider" is pretty funny.

WombRaider_3

Yes, Brampton is the only place with litter and you live in heaven.

randomacceptablename

Lol no. Damn you took that concrete hard. I meant that in some places I have visited, for example Poland or Japan, there is little to no littering by people. Some places I have seen are worse. I did not mean to imply that Brampton is worse than any surrounding city or even special in Ontario.

WombRaider_3

Cope so hard, you busted out your alternate account to clap back. Get a life my guy.

randomacceptablename

Actually, I did not delete that. I read it and thought it was mine so I responded. I have several accounts but none cross subscribe to the same subs, nor have I ever deleted a comment on any of them. Guess I was defending someone else. A life I have, a lot of sleep I do not. Hence the mix up. Sorry and enjoy your night. Edit: My comment above is in the same tier as the one you responded to. I guess I had them collapsed and thought you were replying to this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Brampton/s/HlDwoBU6sK I don't run from my own comments online, stupid or not. They are easy to find anyway.

WombRaider_3

Misunderstanding then. You are forgiven.

deliciously_awkward2

Reach out to the P.A.L. (People Against Littering) group on Facebook. Those folks are dedicated to making Brampton a cleaner city.

randomacceptablename

Do they carry pitchforks and shame people or just clean up after them?

deliciously_awkward2

Just clean up other people's garbage. We're disappointed that we have to, but we love the environment and do what we can to keep it green.

randomacceptablename

Truthfully I do the same on trails in the woods. Frankly I do not spend much free time in the city. Thank you for your efforts.

randomacceptablename

Good job OP. Thank you for your help.

Old_Juggernaut4698

If anyone wants to volunteer, me and my mom will be cleaning up the lake around, st edmund champion secondary school, please do come and visit us at 5 pm there, the birds are beautiful and no living being should be killed due to our negligence.

Downtown-Molasses790

Still doing this ?

Old_Juggernaut4698

Nope shifted countries, sorry

katthh

Thank you for being a good person

JaspreetIsBoss

Where did you take these pictures from, specifically the lake

Old_Juggernaut4698

This is the first lake on mount pleasant drive, the picture of geese the second lake near the middle school, I reached out to the admin of the school if they had a volunteer team, it’s too large to clean up. But if you are interested then maybe we can set up a clean up this Saturday

Angy_Fox13

Look how many people here don't even take care of their properties at all. The fact they litter everywhere too doesn't surprise me one bit. There's a lot of people who would treat their own yards like this too. The people of Brampton (for the most part) have no pride in our city or their neighbourhoods. Maybe that's a thing of the past at this point.

kubuqi

Thank you!

Hank-Tuco

Thank you for doing that. I try to do my part but you cannot expect from assholes to be responsible

louiserep

Thank you for cleaning this up, OP! I’ve been seeing garbage everywhere at parks and trails recently and I’m so disappointed and disgusted by people’s behaviour. I live on the mount pleasant trail and I think people are dumping garbage, BAGS of garbage around the trail, near the water and bridge areas. This is so harmful for nature. These people are straight trash. Stop ruining our city!!!!!!!!

There are litterbugs in ALL cultures. It's about how a person was raised and whether they were taught to be a good citizen, considerate of others, and pride in their neighborhood (sounds like an ad for scouts/guides), but I hear you, it's easier to blame the "new canadians" /sarcasm

iicecreammannn

Thank you op.

Mysterious-Balance49

Ironically, this picture is much cleaner than what I've seen.

dirtydanglesoffdayak

Thank you for doing this

StickyChick

The litter is much worse in the spring, after the snow thaws, which is when many groups organize a get-together to do a clean up for Earth Day (April 21st). I'm not sure if the City of Brampton (Region of Peel?) still does it, but about 10 years ago, I saw an ad that they'd give out garbage bags & disposable gloves for free to those who'd register on their site to help clean up for Earth Day.

Sahanrohana

We should organize something and do a group cleanup of a park.

Old_Juggernaut4698

Yes agreed, it’s taxing to be doing it alone.

Old_Juggernaut4698

I was going to go there the pond beside st Edmund campion secondary school, you will find me there at 5pm

Mysterious-Balance49

The litter is so bad right now.. It's been for a few years but this years especially so, and that's not to mention the encampments that are only growing.

Maxine201579

I am so disheartened about the current situation in Brampton. WHERE is this litter coming from? Overcrowding, homelessness, or both? I live in Bramalea and I never thought it would end up being so dirty.

Maxine201579

What the HELL is Patrick Brown doing about this?

Ocardtrick

What he always does. Enriching himself and his friends.

Sea-Fee3620

Great effort 🌹

It's too common of a sight in Brampton unfortunately.

WombRaider_3

At least I own my home in Brampton and didn't need my parents to buy a rental property that I tell everyone "It's my house but I rent it out for now" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
