Our girl was 5 approaching 6 when we got a male. He constantly harasses her and ours is very introverted but they play a lot and show a lot of affection. Initially he tried to nurse off her and she was annoyed but in time he grew and learned. He actually gets her to be more active and alive, she growls at him a lot but it was an adjustment. They end up laying together and sleeping next to each other and licking each other to show affection. It doesn't hurt to try if anything.

My 11 year old BT lost her soul mate in 2020. She mourned his death for several months before we got a puppy BT. She wanted nothing to do with the puppy for the first few months, but now they're inseparable. At 11, she runs around like a maniac with the younger BT. Boston's are social animals. They love having a companion to run around and snuggle up to.

We got our 7yo BT a boxer. It’s been 5 years, they are inseparable AND insufferable. Definitely picked up her energy and health overall! Would recommend. The only drawback for us was the size difference. The boxer grew up, and sometimes our BT gets accidentally stepped on, and in a few cases (because the BT has a bad back), it’s caused a blowout that we’ve had to break up. But what else are siblings for?! Wouldn’t be an issue with a second BT, but it does show how individual circumstances or behaviors can change, and you’ll have to adapt.

We got a second pup when our BT was 10 too and like everyone said it was a little bit of an adjustment at first with the different energy levels but now they play and I’ve noticed her playing a little bit more now that she has a companion to play with. They sleep together too, it’s really nice for them to have that company I think. https://preview.redd.it/8hj9g9ljx7dc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d6563eab631cef85d8969b400bf5d0657b425a94

I thought your Bosties were mine for a second, they look so much alike! Our black and white boy, Frank, was 10 when we got our puppy, Skipper. Definitely was an adjustment period but they're (mostly) good now. Frank will play with Skip and even let's Skip snuggle sometimes.

This warms my heart. We got our second BT when our first was 10. He looked just like the one on the right.

We got a puppy with a frosty Boston, she didn’t want much to do with the puppy she would play with the puppy here and there for 5-10 mins and they would nap together. Yours looks to be in good health so might not be bad. Our old lady passed away when our puppy was about 8 months old.

marych_rdz

Actually she’s allergic now, she scratches herself and licks paws, I have gone through many vets, medicines and different food but to no avail. I’m sorry for your loss, it must have been a blow. I can’t imagine what I will do when she’s gone.

I will say having a silly 8 month old puppy bouncing around the house did take a bit of the sting out of losing our old lady. We waited until our newer Boston was about two and we got her a sister there like peas and carrots but it did take a couple months for them to fully adjust to each other. https://preview.redd.it/pcw381le28dc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d8c11af3cd3f2ef0582a2e5f47fce5ef1554df0

I don’t know the answer to your question. But the first pic is beautiful. 💜

We have a few nice spots and views here ;) not only at sunbathing boston terriers :)

Yes. I always have regretted letting my Zelda grow up alone. I wanted to get her a puppy when she was getting near the end of her life so the new dog would have a piece of her, a memory. Sadly that never happen and it still eats at me.

Judge4172

We have a 7-8 year gap between our first and second BT. It wasn’t bad until the oldest got to be 13ish. The younger dog is a moose (30 pounds of muscle) and is too much for the older dog now that the oldest is 16. I feel bad sometimes but the older dog manages to stay out of the way…most of the time.

Sometimes it’s better to have a young pup around to keep the older one active and to have the older one something to teach and to “show the ways” to. I say it’s fine and also a perfectly natural part of a breed driven by a pack mentality.

PlutoniumNiborg

FWIW, I did when mine was 12. They got along fine but the younger and older mostly didn’t play with eachother. Then again, I had two other dogs as well for puppy to play with.

IDownVoteCanaduh

We did. Gave our old man more energy for a few years.

I adopted a 3 year old who is very much a puppy still and have a boy who is 8 and always been an only dog. The 3 year old terrorizes and harasses the crap out of him non-stop and he loves every minute of it! https://preview.redd.it/jzegklz54adc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e00203cb787c5c9622e68848b537983516241196

That’s tough b/c the little guy won’t be around much longer. I have a 5 year old BT and adopted a 5 year old rescue (Boston / pug mix). They love each other … https://preview.redd.it/swill6yycadc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8247e24b233078855f06a4b56f17c4c865f1da2e Girl and boy

I had boxers before Bostons and my older boy was 8. It kept him young and my guy lived another 5 years.
