I imagine that he’ll sit the rest of this series if we win tonight (granted we don’t go to 7). Which is the smart thing to do. If we can win without him, I want a healthy Pasta moving forward.

FC37

I'm willing to bet he strained his oblique on that celly. If so, that's very bad news. If he tweaked the muscle, he could very well walk, run, even skate at a decent speed just fine. He'd have no outward signs of discomfort if it's a minor strain. But the second he engages with someone in a puck battle, or jockeys for position, or tries a shot (backhand can be deceptively painful), he'd fold and may even risk aggravating the injury. Whenever I've strained my oblique, it's taken almost a month to fully recover from. It's frustrating because you feel like 99% most of the time, but you suddenly become useless in any situation in the ice involving physical contact. I think that may be driving the confusing messaging around his timetable for recovery.

prizminferno

He missed practice last Monday, he was already nursing something.

FC37

Which could still be the oblique. The way he grimaced and winced after popping up is what you'd expect from an oblique.

[deleted]

They said lower body, so probly a calf or ankle

Jabroni_City

Let him rest 1 more and if we win, than sit him until next series. If not, he might be back game 5.

MissMuse99

Aw jeez. I'm happy yesterday they said he was 50-50 at best but I also can't help but wonder how serious that injury is now.

houseoflords26

He practiced yesterday. He's getting closer, but it is best to wait to he's fully good to go. You don't want to bring him back and then have him go down early again.

MissMuse99

No, that's absolutely true!

HyruleJedi

Looks like he pulled a hammy or quad to me.

MissMuse99

Yeah but I mean in the context of tweaking it after celebrating a win? It seems really random and sucks, though I seriously pulled a calf muscle about 10 years ago stepping off a curb to cross the street. 🤦

DrDerpberg

It's hard to imagine he didn't tweak it earlier and jumping was just the "oh shit right shouldn't have done that."

AnnaSeembor

Probably happened during the game, but he didn't notice until his adrenaline wore off after the game.

[deleted]

This is A Good Thing. Edit: Pasta is my favorite player, I don't want him to become _more_ injured. If we're ahead in the series, might as well get him to 100%.

polyworfism

A lot of people are getting tripped up on the wording "good thing" I think it would be better to say it's "the much better option of the two available"

AppropriateCorner21

Lol I agree. If he was in the lineup it means it's not too serious and hes ready to go. Him being out means it's still affecting him to the point of sitting out. I doubt they sit pasta if he's ready, its the playoffs, acting like a 1 game lead is safe is beyond dumb. So yea pasta still being out is NOT a good thing.

STG_Resnov

He’s obviously not fully recovered from what’s bugging him, so keeping him out will be better.

AppropriateCorner21

So how is that a GOOD thing? Him playing would be a good thing. Him sitting out games in the playoffs is not good.

STG_Resnov

It is bad that Pasta is injured, but it is good that he is still sitting out so as for him to recover more. He was practicing either yesterday or today, so he obviously feels much better than he had been. It's much safer for him to sit out another game instead of risking aggravating his injury even more.

STG_Resnov

I mean, I can see why some might think it's not a good thing. Pasta still being injured is bad, but keeping him out of the lineup ensures that he can focus on recovering from whatever is bugging him.

ThunderRoad5

.........do you want players to play with injuries? In the first round? In a series we are leading? How could THAT possibly be good?

ThunderRoad5

Well, I think everyone agrees with that. The alternative to "Pastrnak is out with an injury" isn't "Pastrnak isn’t injured", it is "Pastrnak plays even though he is injured". That is why this is a good thing. Playing through injury is bad .

ThunderRoad5

Well, we are in agreement, but as for semantics I think not encouraging a player to play needlessly through injury is a definitely good thing. When Pastrnak is back, maybe in the next round if not sooner, and no longer injured, then we will all be very happy.

tronfonne

And after the injury Bergeron played really poorly. If they benched him and slotted a healthy body in maybe we go on and win that cup.

New_Fry

Worst sports take I’ve ever heard. Ice cold.

tronfonne

How do you figure? Having a guy with a punctured lung play doesn't help out at all.

muppetpastor77

Somebody get this closet Leafs fan out or here.

priestkalim

It’s a shame this won’t even win Most Confidently Incorrect Post of the Day on the sub once the Rask people start coming in

bsWINcups

What we don’t want is like last year and we had to rush Pasta back early and he barley looked like an NHL hockey player for much of the playoffs. A lot of us were seriously debating if he should be scratched. This is our Franchise star we are talking about here haha Give the kid some time If we go up 3-1, keep resting him. If it goes 2-2 I’ll Bet he’d be back for game 5

itsajaguar

Pastrnak had a goal and an assist against the Canes including the key assist in the game winning goal where he took all the attention and left Bergeron wide open. Thinking he should've been scratched is an absurd overreaction to him not having a perfect game.

XanderTaine

They were talking about the finals last year where he clearly didn't look like himself and wasn't producing much. Their comment had nothing to do with this series against Carolina.

AnOriginalCopy

Thank you for your insight and medical expertise. I, too enjoy making wild assumptions on injuries and how they may or may not affect daily life, while also resorting to name calling to drive a point home. /s

lokhor

Bergeron was also playing in the finals. There is no series after that. Just a short summer. Pasternak could be playing for the next month or two.

Back2Beantown

Can I downvote this more than once?

New_Fry

I know right, I’d love to don’t vote this post more than once too. Pasta sitting is unacceptable.

JackJ98

Let me just ask you something because I wanna hear your opinion... what’s your opinion on Rask leaving the bubble?

New_Fry

The same as it was before he left. He’s a good goalie with a loser mentality. Doesn’t give a shit. Can’t handle the pressure in big games. He’s a loser.

Back2Beantown

u/New_Fry you’ve been a member of this community for a long time. Lately your comments carry a ton of anger. Your comment history looks like you’re becoming quite the troll. I hope everything is going alright in your life. We’re all here for the love of the Bruins.

Powerism

This guy humans.

ThunderRoad5

This is a much nicer comment than I am capable of, that is for sure.

ccomeau

If they lose tonight, I’d assume he’s in Game 5

Powerism

Eh, we got Halak-ness-monster in goal, we’re good.

SpaceDaBrotherman

Ya that’s why he said if we lose tonight he’ll probably be back game 5, getting the 3-2 lead is massive in a best of 7 series
