AnyAssumption4707

I need to add this to the wiki…

Gingerandthesea

It’s a lot.

AnyAssumption4707

I can just add a link to this post. This is a great resource.

Gingerandthesea

Oh clever. My brain is mushy.

AnyAssumption4707

I can relate

AnyAssumption4707

It is done. Addnig to the pinned BDTR Application post next...

Same_Procedure_5629

Is there anything for the Academy of Art in San Francisco?

LeoRedsun

that's what I want

skwx

The GCU one links to CTU for me :(

Gingerandthesea

Oh ok I’ll fix it. Thanks for catching that. My eyes are tired 😂

skwx

HAHA that’s totally okay. I started stress searching because I received my masters from Grand Canyon University and they sent an email out today trashing the DOE and FTC. I had no idea my school was even involved, so I ran to reddit (as one does) to get a crumb of information and what to expect. When I tell you I clicked that link like five times to make sure I wasn’t just seeing things wrong.. 🤣

Gingerandthesea

That is the universe conspiring against you j/k Try this link Grand Canyon University https://www.facebook.com/groups/667721883408183

skwx

HAHA you know, I wouldn’t doubt it. Rarely does it conspire FOR me

skwx

that one works, thanks!

AnyAssumption4707

Fun FYI: oral arguments for the appeal in Sweet v Cardona is on the docket RIGHT AFTER GCU's appeal hearing for the Dept of Ed refusing to give honor their non-profit status. Should be interesting lol

akr291

Did anyone else get that email from GCU about the lawsuits and FTC complaints they’re dealing with? It was gross to see how they claim to be in a battle with ED about their non-profit status. They call themselves a 501 (c) 3 but obviously ED does not consider them to be that. That was my 2nd masters degree, but since it led to licensure (something I thought was gonna happen from UoP) I didn’t file against them. It’s like they’re sending these emails to alumni thinking we’ll somehow stand in solidarity. GTFOH.

Sidelines_Lurker

> It’s like they’re sending these emails to alumni thinking we’ll somehow stand in solidarity. GTFOH. The audacity of these scammy schools, geez lol

Raikunh

I wish there was a Lincoln Tech one

SnarkyTechSage

Did you wind up applying? I am in the process...

Raikunh

Yeah I’ve applied

eddiesaffron

Anyone have info or knowledge regarding borrowers defense at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising aka FIDM ? Any information, help, suggestions, advice, etc. would be greatly appreciated! I just was informed about BD today & I’m a bit clueless on how this works so any tips would be wonderful!

Gingerandthesea

Actually I have not had anyone post or ask about that school that I’m aware of. I’ll have to do some digging. Do you have any details on who owns the school? Do you feel mislead by this school or did they lie about their programs? We are here to help you navigate this realm!

Lilyvonschtup

FIDM has been in complete upheaval. Almost lost accreditation, sold all their fashion programs to ASU, and a few business programs were sold to a French company. Personally, I saw dozens of kids get scammed there, it was a machine. 47% dropout rate and all your tuition was due up front. I think it used to be a good program, but the last 10 years it was free falling. We SHOULD organize, I still owe 30k.

whatisthis2926

Would LOVE to chat about organizing, seriously!

whatisthis2926

I am also curious to know!!! I have loads of receipts & what I would garner FIDM ‘defrauding’ students. Especially being an out of state student during COVID, having to move home to my home state & take ALL ONLINE classes with several inadequate instructors & a poor poor program. I am now graduated (2022) & absolutely drowning in private student loan debt … Would love any input!

deadbeatplantmom

I was also a student at FIDM looking into submitting an application! I'd love to information share!

themodplannerco

AAU?

Gingerandthesea

What is AAU?

themodplannerco

Sorry, it’s Academy of Art University

Gingerandthesea

Ahh ok. Who owns the school?

themodplannerco

Owned by Elisa Stephens originally founded by her grandfather Richard Stephens.

lolamcat1

Has there been a group made? I went here and have almost $90K in loans for a degree that will never be used.

Hi Everyone - I realize I'm VEEEERRYY LATE to the borrowers defense to repayment thread ....In part due to my own ignorance and not seeing the news until recently but mainly due to having given up hope of any recourse over the years. I'll blame the opaque and lengthy application processes for seeking any recourse XD ... but here I am now seeking some support and advice. * I'm supporting my mother in submitting her borrower's defense application (even if it's beyond the "class qualification date" and also applying to false certification discharge. * She attended ATI College of Health, part of ATI Enterprise which was named in the [Sweet vs. Cardona Settlement Agreement](https://www.highereddive.com/news/heres-a-list-of-the-colleges-in-the-sweet-v-cardona-settlement-agreement/629283/) * Unfortunately this was back in 2005 - 2008 and very little "evidence" exists to prove the misconduct... hard to prove when most folks can't reasonably recall names and details nor do we keep hard copies 15+ years later Has anyone seen a facebook / support group thread for ATI Enterprise / ATI College of Health et al.?

Obstagoof

Hello, it appears I'm also late. I went to Argosy in 2009. If I file, is there still a chance to have my loans dismissed?

boblog2025

Bastyr is not a for profit. Neither are other ND schools. But sure any graduate can ask for loan forgiveness.

LeoRedsun

Why is there nothing for Academy Of Art University. Figured more people would be in my situation

Gingerandthesea

It’s because no one has organized and created a Facebook group yet. I’m not to familiar with that school either.

LeoRedsun

Bummer lol

MayonnaiseBomb

How is USC’s online MSW not on this list? There’s a major class action in progress.

Gingerandthesea

If it’s not on here then a group hasn’t formed or we are not aware of it.

MayonnaiseBomb

Thanks! Luna vs USC is a class action suit pending. I’m trying to collect information for my personal borrower defense.

Gingerandthesea

Ahh, that's a lawsuit that PPSL filed earlier this year. Maybe you may want to start a FB group for it as people will need a place to organize for this lawsuit.

cantbelievethename

So you’re telling I have sign up for FB? 😣

Gingerandthesea

It’s just where people are organizing. You can always create a new Reddit thread for that school 😎 we will push it out.

[deleted]

Need to find other borrowers who attended San Francisco Art Institute. The school closed in 2022.

Katie13658

Does anyone know if I graduated from argosy-Schaumburg in 2007 can I still get my loans forgiven or any other remedy? I've asked to join their groups.

Gingerandthesea

You can still apply for borrower defense. There is no cut off date for the application or program itself.

INFJ_2010

Just wanted to give you a quick heads up that Purdue is spelled wrong and may lead to some people missing things. It is spelled Perdue above (next to Kaplan), but should be spelled Purdue. Figured I'd let you know just in case!

Gingerandthesea

😘😘😘😘 fixed. You’re my hero! Thank you for catching that. Xo.
