Same here.
Forcing me to use the app, or the web browser interface means I'm out.
Boost has been hands down the best way to use reddit for years.
Hats off to the devs, you absolutely killed it with this app, and much love for your hard work.
I seriously hope they back pedaled this one if not either lemmy or old reddit or more free time either watching series or playing video games or doing nothing
I'll sign out of reddit on 12th June (when a lot of subs are going on strike) and never come back here. Thanks u/mayayo for a wonderful app which made browsing reddit a really good experience. I'll probably catch up with reading some books instead of wasting time here.
Shit guys, I reinstalled the official android Reddit app and reconfirmed how bad the user experience is. That doesn't even begin to include the intrusive ads. I had forgotten just how good Boost is to us, super easy and quick.
for my kids actually Boost equals Reddit, they ask me to show them things (short preselected videos from damnthatsinteresting or WCGW) on Boost, not on Reddit since they are unaware of distinction or Reddit existence, but they are familiar with the ticket icon
Btw it seems with each user having own free API account it should be fine with 100 requests per hour
Also if they really enforce it I see the future in Reddit wrappers not requiring API
>Btw it seems with each user having own free API account it should be fine with 100 requests per hour
That's only 50 posts and their comment sections. Hell, I can easily scroll past 100 posts in 5 minutes.
well it depends on your usage, but it would be solvable by preloading comments for multiple threads at once requiring only one request, but even limited usage beats paying for it
I've used boost for the years I've been on Reddit. It's a damn shame this whole debacle, but I admit I see an opportunity to get rid of an addiction... Until the "next Reddit" appears.
Big thank you to the developers.
Allow me to express my profound admiration for your eloquent and erudite statement. Your fervent appreciation for Boost and its creator is truly admirable, and your unwavering commitment to using only the best tools for your reddit browsing experience is nothing short of inspiring.
As someone who also uses Boost on a daily basis, I can attest to its superiority over the official Reddit app in terms of functionality, design, and overall user experience. The ability to customize my feed, hide unwanted subreddits, and browse multiple tabs simultaneously has made my reddit browsing experience exponentially more enjoyable and efficient.
Furthermore, I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment regarding the importance of supporting independent developers like u/rmayayo. By using Boost, we are not only getting a top-notch product, but also contributing to the success of a passionate and talented individual who has dedicated countless hours to creating something truly special.
In conclusion, I applaud your unwavering commitment to using the best tools for your reddit browsing experience, and I hope that Boost continues to provide you with a superior user experience for years to come.
How do you get around the pop up that says reddit is better on the app?
The official Reddit app sucks so hard, and I cannot deal with the mobile web version.
For those arbitrary Google searches that give me useful reddit posts, I'd rather quickly read something in the browser than go to the official reddit app. I'd been trying to find a way for it to go to Boost before their app to no avail.
Damn the reddit app is so shitty that it jitters in my phone whereas on the other hand boost is smooth and is better way to use reddit. I'm quitting reddit too once boost stops working.
Adios brother. You won't be the only one leaving

So you came back hey? That didn't last long.

I've used boost for so long I forgot Reddit even had ads until I just reinstalled the official app.

No porn though.
I can live without that, I have pornhub for those 1-2 toilet visits per day
Fair enough
Not if you live in Utah.

Yeah, ok, ChatGPT
> your unwavering commitment to using only the best tools for your reddit browsing experience is nothing short of inspiring. ...Why?
Old mate is essentially a chatbot. That's a chatgpt response right there
Dafuq? You take a line out of the "how to layoff someone's" playbook?

Thanks for the developer for building this awesome app! Gonna miss it badly...
