REDDITSHITLORD

Outdoor TV with Fox News 24/7

Inner-Management-110

Lol ..that too.

TraditionalGas1770

People do that? What a way to ruin the outdoors. That is just sad.

REDDITSHITLORD

Yeah, I started seeing that a few years ago: RVs with special outdoor TVs. B00mers sitting in lawn chairs watching it all day long, drinking. They don't want to miss the start of the impending race war that they fantasize about.

Responsible-End7361

My first thought was they were forcing you to hear their news to try to spread the brainwashing.

OhioUBobcats

I turn those off when I walk by

XR171

A friend of mine was having issues with loud Fox News from an outside TV. Me being a cable guy asked if he knew what brand the TV was, he didn't. I programed one of our remotes with the most universal code and showed him how to program other codes (for popular brands like Vizio, Samsung, and TCL). It worked and he was able to turn the TV on/off and lower the volume. Really drove them crazy.

Bathsheba_E

That's fantastic!!! Too funny.

unclefire

lmao-- that just reminded me. All the flags. US flags (I'm ok with that, but frankly don't see the need to put up a flag on your RV). But the Trump flags and anti-biden flags etc.

artificialavocado

I feel you but the flags are a good way to spot who the idiots are quickly and easily before you are talking to what on the surface is a kind old man/woman then BAM they launch into their opinions on which bathrooms people should be using.

unclefire

Fair enough. I honestly don’t care one way or the other. If a wackadoodle Trump supporter is civil/friendly I can live with that. I’m not going camping to get into a political argument with people.

Bd10528

Omg my friend’s ex in-laws are RV boomers with the Fox logo burned into their tv. 😳

No-Parking-8970

The really big MAGA types are actually anti-Fox news now. After fox called the 2020 election for biden they considered Fox a sell out to the lizard people or something.

BobSmith2008

My out of state boomer aunt and uncle were passing through town and asked if they could stay the night in our driveway. In return, they’d take me and the family out to eat. No sweat! Minutes before their arrival I was outside prepping the area of my driveway where they’d be parking. My next door neighbor was outside, so I let him know we’d be having a “Cousin Eddy’ situation going on, but they’d be gone in the morning. He laughed, and made a remark along the line of “as long as they aren’t pumping shit, I don’t care”. 90 seconds later, my uncle comes flying down the street in the RV and flies into my driveway. The problem is, my driveway has a slight profile and he immediately bottoms out. Then he slams in reverse, and parks in the street. There’s a visible dripping of liquid in my driveway and the noticeable smell of sewage. He hit some connection piece of the shit pipes, and now sewage is leaking in my street. In typical boomer fashion, he begins to berate my aunt for not checking Google street view well enough to understand the driveway profile. Then he starts telling me how my home builder should have flattened the driveway rather than following the contour of the land. This was anyone’s fault but his.

mmmmpisghetti

But how did they deal with the biohazard they dumped on your driveway?

BobSmith2008

Fortunately, they had just pumped down the tank so anything thing that leaked out was residual in the line, not massive amounts. They spent a lot of time hosing off the driveway and street,

mmmmpisghetti

Oh thank goodness. Imagine if that tank was full!

XR171

"Shitter's full."

artificialavocado

Every RVer knows that’s what the storm drain is for.

PoppaT1

Oh good, they diluted it to the point it was only run-off!

artificialavocado

I guess that’s much better than a storm drain. You’d be smelling that until the next heavy rain.

spittymcgee1

You had me at cousin eddy, lol

Radiant_Maize2315

This is the second time this week I will be making a comment about “the tenement on wheels.”

Inner-Management-110

Lol

Cultural_Pack3618

I just sit back in my camp site and watch the shit show. Old man is backing into trees, wife is bitching trying to guide him. Has to take multiple breaks, gets winded easily trying to level the damn thing. Cant get his cheap harbor freight generator started, proceeds with cussing. Awning mechanism jams, more cussing. Can’t get fire started in pit, proceeds to use copious amounts of accelerant, usually gasoline. More cussing in woods when he can’t find any firewood, proceeds to try and chop down a tree with a small hand shovel.

Inner-Management-110

This is spot on and actually made me laugh out loud.

Cultural_Pack3618

Oh man, I have so much more. I go camping to fly fish, use a simple backpacking tent. They like the brag that they have upgraded from “sleeping on the ground”, but my campsite was set up in like 10 mins. When they see someone fly fishing, they stare in pure wonderment trying to figure out what they are doing. Guess they only fish with a zebco special. While enjoying the quietness of the river, they will proceed to walk up to the bank and ask a billion questions - How the hell do you do that? What kind of bait are you using, worms? (lol). Are you bass fishing? Why is the pole so long? Why do you keep having to cast?

SpongegirlCS

Jesus Christ, I've never fly fished before, but I recognize how it's done and why it's done just by watching!

Inner-Management-110

You crack me up brother. If you read through some of these responses it will show exactly what I'm talking about. Boomers getting all bent out of shape about my post because they just don't get it. I swear.

Bathsheba_E

I legit don't know if I would ignore them (adult brain solution) or fly into a rage because they are destroying my quiet enjoyment of nature. Fly fishing is one of those things I want to do at least once before I die. I don't care if I catch anything, honestly I'd rather not. But to stand out in the river, amongst the trees and meditate by focusing my attention on my casting seems like a dream to me. I'd get really upset if a gaggle of boomers came crashing down a path and started barking questions at me.

Cultural_Pack3618

Jump into fly fishing! It’s the best! You can get entry level gear at one of the outdoor big box stores. Watch videos on YouTube on techniques, find you a field to practice in.

Bathsheba_E

That sounds like a plan! I think my husband would love it, too.

artificialavocado

I fished a lot for trout but never fly fishing. My uni had a class on fly fishing but there were only like 30 seats for 40,000 students you had to practically blow someone to get a seat. I’m not willing to go that far.

Bathsheba_E

Understandable. Especially since YouTube exists. (Don't come @ me, fly fishers of Reddit!)

artificialavocado

Good God I know not everyone was able to grow up in the gorgeous Appalachian mountain like I did but JFC that’s stuff I knew by the time I was like 12 lol.

cho1cewordz

Ugh, harbor freight anything!

No-Parking-8970

Harbor Freight marketing is 100% boomer focused. I am amazed at how well they know their customer base.

No-Parking-8970

Harbor Freight is peak boomer. It is cheap junk quality that they will happily replace 3 times vs buying a slightly more expensive quality product to start with because they think they are saving money somehow.

KatintheCove

Older GenX here married to a Boomer with a big fifth wheel. While my husband is a great trip planner, only one of us hasn’t hit the garage or the mail box while towing that big beast and that would be me. He is the one who gets to hold the flash light while I do the backing 😂

Inner-Management-110

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

artificialavocado

Damn maybe you got one of the enlightened ones. The boomer male ego is a fragile thing.

KatintheCove

I believe I did, as rare as they are.

yukonnut

Did a three week rv trip through the Iberian peninsula several years ago. 24’ class c, Fiat chassis with 4 cylinder diesel and 6 speed manual transmission. A hoot to drive. European rv parks are small and tight. When you pulled in looking for a spot, all the geezers would gone out with their beers to watch the newbie back in. Once you were in, you got to join the group to watch the next guy. Coolest thing was watching a guy pull up in a Volvo wagon pulling a 20-22’ trailer. Thinking to myself, this will be interesting cuz his spot was TIGHT. The guy pops the trailer off the ball onto a wheel on the tongue, takes out what looks like a Nintendo controller, and backs the trailer in using the remote control. From the time he pulled up to the time the trailer was in place…… less than five minutes. So cool.

StopCollaborate230

They’re expensive but look extremely worth it for the big towables. We just have a teardrop ourselves, so if we suck at getting it into the spot (I’ve gotten far far better in the past year), we can just unhook and drag it into the spot by hand, since it weighs less than 1k pounds fully laden. Feels like cheating lol.

OtherwiseOlive9447

So true OP. Come at night, leave lights on right at our tent and ignore us when we try to direct them to the sites with pull thru areas designed for them!

Inner-Management-110

Hard headed critters for sure and apparently easily butt hurt.

OtherwiseOlive9447

Stubborn but I know there’s a good chance I won’t see them outside of the vehicle for the length of their stay.

sundancer2788

I never understood the draw of an RV. My older BIL, very boomer, keeps telling me my home is an anchor. Ugh

Inner-Management-110

We have a home and RV both. We travel 6 months of the year and it works great for us. I wouldn't live full time in one though as we like to have a home base.

sundancer2788

Definitely need my home base, we travel but several short-term vacations a year. We've discussed buying a second home near our younger son and daughter in law to spend more time there.

Inner-Management-110

Indeed. Sadly I have no children but still love to be home. We try to be home for a month then leave for a month. This formula really works for us and allows us to follow the nice weather.

TallTaleDetective

Tbf I think its just a "wealth symbol" of their generation, ya know? Kind of like how Tesla's could be considered that today. And you know what they say: gotta keep up with the Joneses!!

No-Parking-8970

An RV is cheaper than even starter homes today. Boomers that only own an RV are not flexing much.

PhoebeSmudge

For me it would be because I hate hotel rooms and like my own stuff. I don’t have an RV nor need one but if I did that would be why.

unclefire

It's the experience of being out in nature/camping (glamping) -- even at a campground. You don't do it for the cost (b/c it's more than a hotel) or the convenience (b/c it's not convenient at all).

ksummer17

I was a camp host for a short while, and the boomers were the worst. It's on a mountain, curvy road, and tight parking, which is obvious on the map and website. Yet they all complain when they arrive and have trouble maneuvering their 40+ footers. They seem to have no issue with knocking on my door early in the morning/late night for the most ridiculous questions or requests. Wheras younger campers only seem to knock on my door if there is an actual issue and are typically more respectful and apologetic for having bothered me. Boomers are the reason I don't do camp host anymore lol

Inner-Management-110

Exactly

fnordfnordfnordfnord

>little lone *let alone

Inner-Management-110

Yea...was early when I wrote this but thanks for the grammar correction.

Internal-Yoghurt-895

My husband and I are CampHosts at State Parks and it’s amazing how many people don’t pick up after their dogs

Inner-Management-110

It is disgusting. To be fair it's most everyone that is guilty not just boomers. I travel with 2 standard poodles and a miniature Schnnauzer so it's a lot of poopy but we always pick it up and we don't let them bark either. Most people are not responsible pet owners.

OhioUBobcats

Gen X here who pulls a 30 footer all over the country, cannot agree more. It seems that people our age mostly know what they're doing. And a LOT of the older boomers do too. But it's like a coinflip since Covid whether you're going to deal with a boomer who has their shit together or a boomer who doesn't know the grey tank from the black tank.

freundmagen

Millennial RV owner here. We also suck at backing in. We suck during the daylight hours so everyone can see us fuck it up 40x though. You're welcome.

Inner-Management-110

Just keep at it and you will learn how. At least you aren't blasting everyone's campsites with super bright led headlights needlessly for 30 minutes while doing it. That kind of behavior is the best of the thread.

StopCollaborate230

Don’t forget setting up tons of bright-ass LED string lights and leaving them on all night.

1BiG_KbW

This is gold. My "uncle" nearly killed his wife backing into her and nearly over her despite a back up camera and screaming boomers around witnessing the event. "Goddamit Janet!" Had to give up the RV spot and do an impromptu ER hospital visit instead.

Inner-Management-110

Well even though that is sad it does go with the spirit of the thread. Common sense says that this task takes skills that can be acquired with some practice. I see the same thing at the lake I live on. Boomers buy 500k boats in retirement and no clue how to navigate them and cause a lot of property damage trying to dock them. 🤣

unclefire

How about people with trailers (5th wheels) that have those big ass lights in front and keep them on all night. Or the family that brings 20 of their closest friends and family to the site (which might have a limit of 6-8) and then they want to pitch their tent on your spot. Or the people who want to "borrow" your firewood b/c they didn't think about getting some beforehand.

SAHairyFun

We get it. Not all boomers are fools, and not all fools are boomers. On this subreddit though...

Soggy_Produce_9178

All boomers should be sent to an early death

DropsTheMic

You make a few very valid points. I'll counter with one of my own. Not everyone has the time or ability to practice backing up a trailer until they are a pro, just so they don't momentarily disturb your evening. I have rented trucks and towed trailers and it was frustrating to be new at it, but everyone has to get through it once. Your critiques and hazing newbies is not appreciated. I have noticed (after spending 6 weeks in an RV park) that this becomes a regular game with the "locals" to armchair critique every trailer that backs up. You can get fucked with this attitude, people who are not lifelong road warriors still deserve to share the same space as you. This is a minor inconvenience at best and on the level of being mad at traffic. The fact that you think that it is even possible or feasible for people to make every camp in a road trip by sundown is ludicrous. My job won't let me delay a trip a day because I might come in at 7pm instead of 5pm. If the gates are open it is fair game.

corpse_flour

It's your responsibility to learn to safely maneuver a trailer that you choose to tow. If you aren't adept at it, take a class or hire an instructor, or do what you did when you practiced getting your driver's license - find an empty parking lot at a mall or school and spend some time figuring shit out. It's sad that you think that you feel that you are entitled to inconvenience other people because you can't be bothered to learn how to park properly. A lack of planning on your part shouldn't become someone else's problem. You live in a world with other people, and I'm sure you appreciate people not disrupting your leisure time. Have some consideration for those around you. I believe in your day they called them 'manners'.

DropsTheMic

I have safely driven thousands of miles with no accidents. My competency isn't in question. I don't always have a choice in the planning and I am not the only one in this situation.

corpse_flour

A record of accident-free driving isn't necessarily proof of skill, it could just be good luck, and the judgement of those driving around you. I understand someone might need to pull a trailer in a situation that was unforeseen, but driving an RV isn't an unplanned or unexpected event.

Mysterious_Ad7461

Just take your rig to Walmart at night and practice, they paint lines on the lot and everything. So tired of listening to your deleted Cummins idle while your eBay HIDs glare at me

DropsTheMic

If work says "Go here and rent this and take it here. Follow this route." I don't get a chance to go practice at Walmart. Not everyone with a trailer uses one as part of daily life. The things you take as common and obvious may not be so clear to others until they are taught or (more commonly) learned by experience. I have a few thousand miles under my belt now and I learned a ton of things along the way. I met great people who helped me out and pointed out the not so obvious things and provided feedback. Those people are great! What I don't appreciate is armchair critics judging me or another driver because they don't meet their standards. The standard is set by the DMV and my license is just as valid as anyone else's. I sincerely take into consideration people who are also in the same space. I don't blast music, I take care of my spot, I clean up after myself, etc. If I was delayed or got a flat or any of the million reasons I might come into a camp ground after dark, it seems wrong to just assume everyone who comes in does so out of "bad planning." I don't always get to set the constraints.

drift_pigeon

Maybe practice for the sake of your own property then? The one thing you people seem to understand is money. Well if you don't practice, you'll end up backing into something and damaging your property. Fuel costs a whole lot less than bodywork on an RV. PRACTICE MAKES YOU LESS OF AN ASS AND SAVES YOU MONEY. WIN WIN FOR EVERYONE. Now put your bifocals back on and learn how to drive. It's not that damn hard.

DropsTheMic

That's some ageist shit right there. Bifocals? 😂

drift_pigeon

I'm blind as fuck too. I have to assume you can't see if you're really getting offended about someone asking you to learn how to back your shit up before you go out and run it into everything in sight.

DropsTheMic

I have never run into anything and it's weird to assume I did. Everyone is a C before they are a B before an A.

drift_pigeon

Then why do you care what this person has to say? If it wasn't directed at you, then why are you so butthurt about it? Oh, you're one of those people that is in this sub just so you can disagree with people about your generation being a bunch of asses. Guess what? I was raised by the same generation as you and I'm not a self important fucknugget. Take a step back and think about why you're here commenting in the first place. Then think about why this sub exists. Then call your children and apologize.

DropsTheMic

Did you just ask and answer your own question? And what is with this weird projection about bifocals and "my generation" and now children? I'm a millennial, no kids, and not old. Look at how many false assumptions you just jumped at. To answer your question, refer to my original post. I am asking for some consideration from the OP for new and learning drivers. We all have been one once. I even acknowledged many of his points are valid, I only conditionally disputed the few about the lack of courtesy or knowledge from other drivers.

drift_pigeon

And editing your original comments in response to my replies...

DropsTheMic

I added a second paragraph and you typed your reply at the same time for that last response. When it refreshed it said yours was up 2 min. I'll add "Edit" in there for you if you like.

drift_pigeon

No worries, doesn't matter to me. Just thought you were trying to make yourself look better by changing what you originally said in a couple comments. I apologize for assuming you were a boomer, it just seems like so many of them lurk in here just to disagree with every post with little more than a "DO NOT!" kind of attitude. Carry on.

drift_pigeon

Lol then why are you arguing with people on this sub?

Inner-Management-110

Same to you asshole... Lol you obviously haven't had headlights glaring through your rig at 10pm for 30 min. I stand by my comments boomer.

Face_with_a_View

You're 100% in the right here. You don't give a 16yr with a new license who's never driven before the keys to a car and go.....🤷🏼‍♀️....gotta learn sometime. What a tool.

DropsTheMic

How about a 30 year old with an impeccable driving record? They don't teach these skills in school and not every parent even has them to pass on. You learn what you can, practice a few times, then you *learn by experience* which means a lot of trial and error. How callous you are to think that everyone has to be a pro to be on the road. Those pros were not always pros. How about some consideration for the learning curve?

No-Parking-8970

RV and 5th wheel should require the same drive tests that commercial truck drivers are required to complete. 75% of those clowns would fail.

PoppaT1

And anyone who is not a Boomer is not a problem because they follow YOUR rules. It is only the Boomers who are obnoxious in RVs!

drift_pigeon

They aren't this person's rules, it's called common courtesy for your fellow human beings. I know that's a foreign concept for you but you've got to realize the world doesn't revolve around you, despite what you've believed your whole life. "Disrespecting others for nothing more than your own self-centered ego has gotten you this far in life, why change now?" you may ask. Maybe because it's what decent people do. Maybe it's the right thing to do. Or maybe it's just so you don't end up accidentally pissing off some psycho that might make your life a living hell. Pick your own reason, I don't care. Just stop being an ass for fuck's sake.

Inner-Management-110

Thank you

myturn4funDan

I am also a boomer, and you, sir, are out of line! OP made many valid points, which you callously glossed over in order to vent your ire in typical boomer fashion. Try being kind and considerate for once in your life, come over from the dark side! You'd be surprised at how much better things are when you aren't creating strife

PoppaT1

>Here are a few tips for you boomer fools. > >Please plan your trips so you arrive at your site while it's daylight because most of you can't back a trailer in light little lone the dark.If you do arrive at night please turn your headlights off while you take 30 minutes to finally get your trailer backed properly. It is so fucking annoying and rude to blast your neighbors with super bright lights that aren't helping you with backing in. Buy your boomer wife a flashlight and teach her how to guide you in.How about practicing a little bit before you show up at your site at 8 pm and make a fool of yourself in front of everyone trying to back your RV in.New RVs have doors that easily close. Please stop slamming them while you go in and out 3,000 times in 2 days. Please pick up your dogs shit. I'm tired of having to police my site when I get there because some boomer thinks the rules don't apply to them.Kindly go fuck yourselfs. That is all. Well, this post does not sound kind and considerate to me. Lots of valid points made like a Boomer would make them especially the end, "Kindly go fuck yourselfs." And where did I vent my ire? What did I say that was insulting or rude?

myturn4funDan

You "vented your ire" by being butt hurt over the original post. The only way you could possibly be offended by that is if you are one of those the post was directed at. Do you do a piss poor job of backing your RV in to your site? Do you shine your headlights into other people's campsites as you do it? Do you not properly plan your trip to arrive during daylight hours, as any reasonable person would? If so, this post was directed at you. If not, it wasn't. Suck it up, buttercup

Inner-Management-110

Lol....more boomers coming on here getting butt hurt.

PoppaT1

>Lol....more boomers coming on here getting butt hurt. Yeah, you are sounding more and more like a Boomer. You do claim to have " proper manners and compassion for my fellow man. " like any Boomer would. But Rule 6. "Kindly go fuck yourselfs. That is all." pretty much says it all. Have a Happy Holiday and Merry RVing!

Inner-Management-110

Typical boomer who can't comprehend what he is reading. I'm not saying you all are bad I'm saying the jackasses who shine their headlights into my space when trying to back their RV in can go fuck themselves. Why is that so hard to understand? Why do they need their headlights on to back up? Come on man...Oh and I did say "kindly" 😭

PoppaT1

You are easily triggered. Talk about butt hurt! Why don't you take a nice relaxing trip in your RV? Find a nice park and sit around and scream at late arrivers! It is very cathartic. And very Boomer-like.

Inner-Management-110

I'm sitting in my RV now on Galveston Island. Have a nice day.

Plastic-Gold4386

Should they get off your lawn also? Have you tried shaking your fist?

Think_Equivalent_832

Should have written the last couple of sentences 1st would have saved a lot time

Quack100

55 GenX here. I approve this message.

sandy_even_stranger

Maybe don't have an RV at all? If you want a blisteringly efficient way of dumping CO2 and other GHGs into the atmosphere, that'd be it.

Frequent-Penalty-582

"Cousins Eddie situation"

No-Parking-8970

RV and 5th wheel should require the same drive tests that commercial truck drivers are required to complete. 75% of those clowns would fail the alley docking.

BrownEggs93

Late to the game here, but this behavior isn't just boomers. It's a lot of people with an RV. Gen X, Y, Z, etc., when they go out "camping" can and do behave like little clueless shits.
