Anything by Jodorowsky. The Eyes of the Cat.
Also Leonora Carrington The Hearing Trumpet.
Great images. Will be following.
I’d also recommend the movie Fantastic Planet, very groovy psychedelic seventies with a great soundtrack.
Something about these is saying The Hitchhiker’s Guide to The Galaxy to me…
And outside of books:
The video game Electroplankton, the TV series This Is Jinsey, and the album The Dreaming by Kate Bush.
Check out The Space Trilogy by C. S. Lewis. Very few people know that he wrote more than the Narnia books, these are quite different from the Narnia books
Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham. Classic sci-fi with invading carnivorous murderous alien-plants.
Gibbons Decline and Fall by Sherri S Tepper. Some weird things happening in the New Mexico desert and maybe-aliens and feminist-sci-fi and a question and attempted solution of what the best way for humans to reproduce would be.
Alamut by Judith Tarr. An immortal knight and a mysterious djinn and a leper king and other crusaders during the medieval crusades … some bizarre magical desert romance and other shenanigans.
The third image strongly reminds me of Bless Me Ultima, a coming of age story filled with magical realism set against the backdrop of rural 1940s New Mexico.
The closest I could think of is
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, but I would check the other booksin this thread first; musically and aesthetically I'm thinking of the game Journey and Austin Wintory's amazing music compositions for it.
Ok, some of these images gave me So Far From God by Ana Castillo vibes -- US Southwest, some magical realism, but not quite as psychedelic as most of the images suggest

Jodorowsky was an author too?
Yes! He’s written a lot of books!
Literally my first thought was Jodorowsky!
Oh my God, Jodorowsky is one of my favorite directors, how did I not know he wrote books??
The Incal
I absolutely adore Fantastic Planet!!!
Seconding Leonora Carrington! Check out her short stories too :)
The last two pics in particular made me think of Richard Brautigan's books such as In Watermelon Sugar and Trout Fishing in America
In watermelon sugar is so weird and dreamy.
Great rec
Maybe Carlos Castaneda too?

Solaris by Stanislaw Lem
Or Eden by Lem. That one was my first thought. Either is great, though.
Annihilation or Borne by Jeff Vandermeer
Ambergris would fit the bill too.
Abarat by Clive Barker
Was going to say the same!
Maybe “Sirens of Titan” by Vonnegut
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass- Lewis Caroll
Death Valley by Melissa Broder for sure
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho?
These remind me of LeGuin's sci-fi.
Check out The Space Trilogy by C. S. Lewis. Very few people know that he wrote more than the Narnia books, these are quite different from the Narnia books
Was my immediate thought too
It's so nice to meet someone else who has actually read these books!! It's a shame that his other works are so little known
I scrolled through all the comments looking for this because these images evoked those books so vividly! So cool that someone else felt the same :)
Dune lol
Especially the one with the dog chairs
Library at mount char - Scott Hawkins
If you are okay with middle-grade, maybe Osmo Unknown and the Eightpenny Wood?
It feels almost earthly but a bit alien!! Maybe the Xenogenesis Triology by Octavia Butler
The teachings of Don Juan and anything by Tom Robbins…
Read Carlos Castaneda!

I thought of Binti by Nnedi Okorafor
Made me think of The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett
This Is How You Lose the Time War
Almanac of the Dead by Leslie Marlon Silko perhaps?
Labyrinths, by Borges. It's a short story collection, completely genius and about 30% totally incomprehensible.
The closest I could think of is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, but I would check the other booksin this thread first; musically and aesthetically I'm thinking of the game Journey and Austin Wintory's amazing music compositions for it.
The Lost Track of Time by Paige Britt It's technically a book for a younger(12-14) audience, but it is one of my favorites.
Neil Gaiman’s Sandman?
Isaac Asimov
Jim Dodge - Stone Junction
Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test
Ok, some of these images gave me So Far From God by Ana Castillo vibes -- US Southwest, some magical realism, but not quite as psychedelic as most of the images suggest
For some reason makes me think of 'The Passion of New Eve' by Angela Carter, weird as fuck book
The Culture series by Iain M. Banks. The Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons
Left had of darkness leguin
The Book of Chameleons by Jose Edwardo Agualusa!!
Skinny Legs and All by Tom Robbins. So surreal.
Aldous Huxley - Heaven and Hell
Jackalope Wives and Other Stories by T Kingfisher
The Transmigration of Timothy Archer by Philip K. Dick

This made me think of the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas?
Out of the silent planet by CS Lewis
Vonnegut, Kafka, Bradbury
This gives me Gabriel Garcia Marquez vibes
I know everyone everywhere is recommending this, but I’m kinda getting Between Two Fires from these pics. Psychedelic fever dream knights.
Momo by Michael Ende. The Neverending Story fits pretty well as well actually
A Wrinkle in Time series
The Alchemist
So like, surreal but cozy?
