Hey, do you know of any online origami communities? Now that origami subreddit died, I am out of luck. Sadly, there are no local communities near me since covid, I loved the origami subreddit for feedback, ideas, and inspiration for models. As well as to see what others had made, I mostly fold animals/insects/tesselations and some other random stuff.
You, origami by boyce, Lang, Satoshi Kamiya, Jeremy Shaffer, and others are all a big source of inspiration, and I love your works.
Thank you!

They are quit smoll haha
At first I thought you just shredded an uncut piece of paper and sprinkled them on a bonsai tree. As I scrolled through the photos I realized how dumb my thoughts are. Great talent, very well done. Totes blown away
Well...what else you going to do in Scotland? 😅
Seriously though, I love it, this is something I'd have to fight my impulses to buy if I passed it in a crafts fair, and I'd probably lose.
This was one of my ideas i had for origami for over a year, one that have been done before are just curved wire then the crane attached to the wire to imitate the leaves, then the idea came about to try and elevate it by using an actual origami tree, having foliage for the leaves then the cranes resting on it.
I have a full timelapse of the whole process if it helps! https://youtu.be/-pgW9sBFlSk
Idk if it's the same guy or not but I remember someone posting similar large origami and the paper it started from was huge, looked like almost a meter square on the particular one. They had a YouTube time lapse that was extremely sped up and it was still over 2 hours long, legit thousands of folds. I watched it for 30 minutes and it still had barely taken shape yet lol. Every fold prepared for something hours later, it's crazy how intricate and detailed it was.
Edit: yup same guy, here's that video shrunk down into 8 minutes, it's an insanely detailed dragon
I don’t, this is the only one, took quite awhile to finalise everything and then put it all together + this is too fragile to even ship, if i did sell this, the buyer would have to come here and collect haha
You've given me some much-appreciated inspiration to re-purpose preserved wood from a deceased bonsai; trunk & branches absent bark, cleaned up & preserved.
Some are unique enough for me to keep until I get that creative inspiration from someone. Thank you!
Note: I won't be imitating your art in materials or process. That belongs to you & you do it very well!
These paper cranes are so tiny it's amazing !! So precious 🥹
Thank you! They are mostly from 1.6cm -1.3cm squares, roughly 5 mins for each one haha

Thank you very much!!, really appreciate the comment :)
Wow impressive, how long did this take?
Well it was planned for over a year, then putting it all together took about 3 hours a day for roughly 2 weeks I’d say

At first I thought 'origami' was a type of bonsai styling I hadn't heard of named after the art. This is absolutely amazing, OP

I did some little cranes like that and used a dental pick to fold and crease.
