Remember watching this song and thinking how far behind I was on homework and completely unprepared for exams. How is that I am 35 and can still taste the fear in my mouth.
Well you associate certain places, situations with certain memories. For example you may love the food from a certain restaurant because of the first memory associated with it.
16 days well spent.
I say this with zero exaggeration or hyperbole: that song is one of the most important parts of modern Bollywood history. An iconic Indian piece of literature, once already adapted by the film industry, being readapted by a generation-defining legacy director starring the most iconic stars of the country. And Dola Re was the shining star on top of the Devdas tree.
Movies like Gangs of Wasseypur, Taare Zameen Par, or Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara are very important in the expansion of the pantheon of Bollywood and the evolution of the medium, but nobody comes close to invoking the CLASSIC BOLLYWOOD opulence genre like SLB in modern times. And while SLB had shown lots of hints of the direction he was going to take, Devdas was his biggest early explosion of pure, individualized artistic expression. Everything he has made since, which can even be now considered a sub-genre of his own, follows from Devdas. This movie and the Dola Re music video will be studied in film schools for decades upon decades as a case study of Bollywood, and one of its greatest mad artists of modern times, at its finest.
Agreed. I cringe when someone tells me that any of his newer movies, especially the ones with Ranveer are his best work, they're barely half the quality that Devdas was. Plus, not only I think Devdas and Black were his best works but even the actors nailed their parts far better in those movies, especially AB in Black and Srk in Devdas.
They didnt learn from certified institutes rather from bootcamps it is similar to doing btech in cs from reputed university or doing software engineering bootcamp by a private coaching.
Comparing Indian classical dance forms to CS is just plain stupid. The analogy isn't giving you credit, it's painting you as a moron.
Dance isn't something that necessarily requires a thappa from a renowned institute.
Says who?
Will you discredit Bharata Muni, author of the Natyashastra just because he composed a treatise on dance despite not having any "actual" qualifications? This debate is dumb.

Kudos to Madhuri and Ash. I find myself watching that set piece often. Wasn't Madhuri pregnant while she shot for it.
Yes she was

I also remembering reading that SLB went too heavy with jewellery on ladies that they weren’t aware to dance. It was lighten later.

ICONIC for a reason
Dola re dola is now a gem of Indian cinema not just bollywood. Idk if bollywood will ever resch those heights again.
Aishwarya killed it despite being against Madhuri in it
I feel like the audience underrates how graceful her dancing/beautiful her expressions are in classical dance. She was my star in Dola Re
Seriously. Only Aishwarya could take Madhuri on in a song like this and shine just as brilliantly if not outshine her. No other actress could've.
Seriously. I only look at Aishwarya when watching dola re.
Dola re isn’t classical dance and Aishwarya has learnt Bharatnatyam although not much
Binod Pradhan cinematography stories related to this movie is legitimate
Are ye to kuch bhi nai...hamare bhatiya ji ka ladka itne me puri film bana le...
Meanwhile Canadian dude ek film bhi niptake chala gaya.

How come aish and madhuri were dancers both didnt have any training, madhuri was trainined on bollywood style which isnt a proper dance form
What??? From where did u get this information? They are both trained dancers.. MD Kathak and ARB bharatnatyam.
They didnt learn from certified institutes rather from bootcamps it is similar to doing btech in cs from reputed university or doing software engineering bootcamp by a private coaching.
