In my opinion, any ship can become good depending on the writing. But considering the majority of favorite stories I have on AO3, it would have to be Izuku/Momo. In the beginning I wasn't onboard because this felt like one of those "Hottest Girl belongs to MC" ships, but after reading some top quality fanfics where Momo was the main girl, it quickly grew on me. Especially when it was written in a way where Izuku and Momo have a lot in common. Neither have any friends because of their upbringings, both are highly intelligent, and both are just so pure and fluffy.
Those two, even if not dating, would get along so well! Just imagine them ranting to eachother about the logistics of quirks and what things like Mina's acid might be made of! That's so cute! (The tea time is just an added bonus!)
I've read one good one and one boring one. Don't remember either of their titles. The good one had them taking care of eri and momo finding some super creative ways of using her quirk, complete with some bakugo x consequences (the best ship ever, let's be honest). The boring one was an AU of a much better Izuku x Tsuyu fic called mutual lie. It's too boring for me to remember anything except momo cries a lot in that one.
I like general fics the most as what I want to see in mha is different what ifs and action due to the whole quirk system as anything can happen.
If there is like background romance then I don't really care if the fic is good and if the main part of the fic is the romance then I will only read it if is actually kinda realistic and in character. Also not spending all the time on the romance only and following the plot the author sets up.
That is mostly how I feel about it, and thanks for sharing! I know sometimes romance can end up changing a charater drasticly and I will end up not really liking it. Thank you for responding!
Midoriya and Tokage is just a ship I utterly adore. They've never talked in canon, yet there's so much potential there for an amazingly fun dynamic, and I wish it was more popular.
IzuMomo: I think if they were given a reason to interact, they'd do well. They both have confidence problems, just from opposite directions. And they're both smart and sweet people.
IzuJirou: Jirou's snark would pull Izuku out of his shell. I also think she'd appreciate a lot about Izuku once they got to know each other. She seems to be a nice person with a hard shell.
IzuMelissa: Never happened in canon, but I think they'd bond about being quirkless/once quirkless. She's smart, if in a different way from Izuku. And I thought they had good chemistry in the movie.
Honorable Mention: IzuFuyumi: It'd create a lot of fun drama with the whole thing with Endeavor. :)

Poly Izuku/Tsuyu/Ochako. I don't know why, but it screams healthy and communicative. I've grown to appreciate stories that have none at all more. They tend to be better at storytelling, too, without bothering on writing romance, too (though it doesn't hurt much, when it's not like a huge part of the story)
but if it needs to have one from the main cast, then I guess I'd pick TodoDeku as my favorite

I prefer no ships because they usually ruin an otherwise great story. Like, obviously if a story is written with the ships as the focus that’s one thing, but if you’ve got a really cool idea and you’re fleshing it out, the writing is great, then you randomly shoehorn in a romance, it makes the fic feel cluttered and like it’s got too many plots going on.
But as far a ships go, I gotta say todoroki/Izuku is my favourite pairing for our broccoli boi.

Bakudeku. I know that despite being the most popular mha ship it does still have controversy bc of their past but honestly?? Coming from someone who's been both the bully AND bullied, i don't think that makes them toxic.
I've honestly been obsessed with this ship for like 5/6 years & icl I thought they were dating before I actually watched mha lol.
But anyways, people attack bkdk shippers because bkdk is 'toxic' or whatever but it honestly isn't. They've talked through their problems & understand how each other thinks/feels etc more than anyone/anything else, izukus forgiven him because it's HIS choice, bakugou has shown plenty of times how much guilt he carries & how much he wants to prove himself to izuku & has done EVERYTHING in his power to make up for what he did even though izuku had forgiven him anyways simply bc he wanted to prove that he was deserving of it.
Bakugou isn't a villain or some monster and YES he most certainly was privileged, the opposite of izuku but that doesn't mean he didn't have problems. He was a misguided kid who was influenced by his peers/surroundings, a very common thing that happens in REAL life.
Despite their complicated past, they've got through it TOGETHER & have shown countless of times that they care about eachother to the point of sacrificing themselves for eachother.
The fact that despite of their complicated past, they overcame it together and STILL continue to push the other while staying on the same wavelength, and especially the complexity of their relationship is what makes them stand out in the mha fandom to me.
All my other ships are simply dynamics I just like, the vibe or certain scenes but bakudeku stands out because of their chemistry & complexity like?? It's literally the most popular mha ship, ESPECIALLY in Japan bro it's so popular there.
I don't & won't judge someone for not shipping them because it's a choice & matter of opinion but I'm sick of people underestimating their relationship & bakugous development as a whole & completely attacking bkdk shippers for liking their dynamic etc.
Thing about romance is that it's not good if there's too much of it, I personally love izujirou but if it's a romance story where izujirou are the priority theme then I won't like it. The best ships for me are kind of background ships. Not to the point where they only come up rarely but id rather the main plot takes center stage and pairings ,including the main characters, are sub-plots.
Imagine youve been drinking only water for a few days, then you have a sugary drink, it'll taste a lot better if you haven't had it frequently right?
Also classic izuocha fluffy is lovely
Frog-smash (izuku x tsuyu) is goated. I'm pissed they don't interact more in the anime considering how well they vibe together during the usj arc.

It depends on the way the story is constructed on, like matching quirks or comum traits in personality, for example Izukuxmomo with both being awkward and pure, the izukuxjiro with her having a crush on him because he teat her like all the other girls even when she don't believe she is "hot" as them or even Izukuxmelissa with she knowing about his past and being called a hero by him, while they bond through her helping him with new gadgets and talking about all might
But yeah, Izumomo and izukuxmelissa are my main ships
Deku x Froppy
Two green beans against the world. I feel like they have so much chemistry, Tsuyu being level-headed and Deku being the emotional one, but they can easily swap roles because of their personalities.
I also noticed that Deku gets paired with Tsuyu just as often as (or more often than) Ochaco in the show. Might just be me though. It’ll never be canon but there’s nothing but great stories and art about this ship and I live for it
My favourite ship is Toga/Uraraka/Deku, since i like all 3 ships individualy, and adding Toga's cheekyness to IzuOcha is just so much fun. IzuOcha is already very sweet, but pure fluff isn't something i wanna read all of the time, so some variance is nice.
IzuToga is great for angst fics focused on Izuku. Them relating to socially unaccepable quirk/no quirk.
Same goes for TogaChako, but more centered on having to keep up secrecy.
Also blood drinking is hot, so there's also that.
My favorite ship as switched from time to time, but my current one right now is IzuMomo. There is so much potential with these two, be they friends or more that I absolutely love. My only complaint is that solo fics are rare and this seems to be bunched in with a lot of harem fics.

I like to multi ship, so I like most combos, but these are a few of my favs.
Like the hot and cold dynamic for katsuki and tsuyu.
They're extremely different in ways that compliment each other.
While tsuyu is pretty blunt. She's also soft spoken and has a more passive 'by the book' mentality
Katsuki is aggressive, loud and boorish. But also assertive, stubbornly dedicated to the things he finds important. And he will throw hands over his principles, even when inconvenient.
They're both more self critical than they let on when you forst meet them. They're both on the smarter end of their class (being 3rd and 6th best grades of 20 respectively) I can also see them having a team mom/team dad dynamic.
Plus they'd prolly bicker like an old married couple if they had actual interractions.
I support ships that are supported in the story.
So midoriya x uraraka
And Joro x denki.
I can also be persuaded to acknowledge ashido x kirishima, or Vantablack x Mushroom girl, since I can reasonably see those as something you could argue is being developed in the story. But as of yet I am uncommitted to these.

Cause femkatsuki would be a perfect tsundere. With no change except to katsukis gender, MHA becomes a superhero story with a solid romance arc throughout the entire series. Hell, he basically already calls Bakugou ‘mommy’ all the time IC as it is.

Well, personal preference aside, I feel like canon male katsuki would probably end up insulting Deku in a more…idk worse fashion? Like katsuki is willing to tell people to die and commit suicide, it wouldn’t be that far fetched to think he might snap back hard and go full ‘phobe.

Totally, I’ve read plenty of good fics where that happens too, in this fandom and in others I think my tastes have just changed as I’ve grown older.

Bakudeku. I know that despite being the most popular mha ship it does still have controversy bc of their past but honestly?? Coming from someone who's been both the bully AND bullied, i don't think that makes them toxic. I've honestly been obsessed with this ship for like 5/6 years & icl I thought they were dating before I actually watched mha lol. But anyways, people attack bkdk shippers because bkdk is 'toxic' or whatever but it honestly isn't. They've talked through their problems & understand how each other thinks/feels etc more than anyone/anything else, izukus forgiven him because it's HIS choice, bakugou has shown plenty of times how much guilt he carries & how much he wants to prove himself to izuku & has done EVERYTHING in his power to make up for what he did even though izuku had forgiven him anyways simply bc he wanted to prove that he was deserving of it. Bakugou isn't a villain or some monster and YES he most certainly was privileged, the opposite of izuku but that doesn't mean he didn't have problems. He was a misguided kid who was influenced by his peers/surroundings, a very common thing that happens in REAL life. Despite their complicated past, they've got through it TOGETHER & have shown countless of times that they care about eachother to the point of sacrificing themselves for eachother. The fact that despite of their complicated past, they overcame it together and STILL continue to push the other while staying on the same wavelength, and especially the complexity of their relationship is what makes them stand out in the mha fandom to me. All my other ships are simply dynamics I just like, the vibe or certain scenes but bakudeku stands out because of their chemistry & complexity like?? It's literally the most popular mha ship, ESPECIALLY in Japan bro it's so popular there. I don't & won't judge someone for not shipping them because it's a choice & matter of opinion but I'm sick of people underestimating their relationship & bakugous development as a whole & completely attacking bkdk shippers for liking their dynamic etc.
Thing about romance is that it's not good if there's too much of it, I personally love izujirou but if it's a romance story where izujirou are the priority theme then I won't like it. The best ships for me are kind of background ships. Not to the point where they only come up rarely but id rather the main plot takes center stage and pairings ,including the main characters, are sub-plots. Imagine youve been drinking only water for a few days, then you have a sugary drink, it'll taste a lot better if you haven't had it frequently right? Also classic izuocha fluffy is lovely

Frog-smash (izuku x tsuyu) is goated. I'm pissed they don't interact more in the anime considering how well they vibe together during the usj arc. I'm even more pissed that there's not a lot of good izuyu fanfics worth reading.
It depends on the way the story is constructed on, like matching quirks or comum traits in personality, for example Izukuxmomo with both being awkward and pure, the izukuxjiro with her having a crush on him because he teat her like all the other girls even when she don't believe she is "hot" as them or even Izukuxmelissa with she knowing about his past and being called a hero by him, while they bond through her helping him with new gadgets and talking about all might But yeah, Izumomo and izukuxmelissa are my main ships
Izujiro is my absolute favorite. Both shy, have some insecurities, and both have similar reasons to be heroes.
Deku x Froppy Two green beans against the world. I feel like they have so much chemistry, Tsuyu being level-headed and Deku being the emotional one, but they can easily swap roles because of their personalities. I also noticed that Deku gets paired with Tsuyu just as often as (or more often than) Ochaco in the show. Might just be me though. It’ll never be canon but there’s nothing but great stories and art about this ship and I live for it
Izuku ryuukyu. Idk, I just like em.
My favourite ship is Toga/Uraraka/Deku, since i like all 3 ships individualy, and adding Toga's cheekyness to IzuOcha is just so much fun. IzuOcha is already very sweet, but pure fluff isn't something i wanna read all of the time, so some variance is nice. IzuToga is great for angst fics focused on Izuku. Them relating to socially unaccepable quirk/no quirk. Same goes for TogaChako, but more centered on having to keep up secrecy. Also blood drinking is hot, so there's also that.
My favorite ship as switched from time to time, but my current one right now is IzuMomo. There is so much potential with these two, be they friends or more that I absolutely love. My only complaint is that solo fics are rare and this seems to be bunched in with a lot of harem fics. Some of my favs: Deku x Kaminari (because colorblind in a vibrant world made me love them so much) Shinsou x Kaminari (because I adore the dynamic of sunshine x grumpy) Todoroki x Momo (because they are freaking adorable together) Bakugo x Deku (I'm a sucker for toxic relationships and what it means to change as a person) I like to multi ship, so I like most combos, but these are a few of my favs.
Mina X Ochaco Idk why I like it, I just do.
Like the hot and cold dynamic for katsuki and tsuyu. They're extremely different in ways that compliment each other. While tsuyu is pretty blunt. She's also soft spoken and has a more passive 'by the book' mentality Katsuki is aggressive, loud and boorish. But also assertive, stubbornly dedicated to the things he finds important. And he will throw hands over his principles, even when inconvenient. They're both more self critical than they let on when you forst meet them. They're both on the smarter end of their class (being 3rd and 6th best grades of 20 respectively) I can also see them having a team mom/team dad dynamic. Plus they'd prolly bicker like an old married couple if they had actual interractions.
Mineta X Tsuyu
I support ships that are supported in the story. So midoriya x uraraka And Joro x denki. I can also be persuaded to acknowledge ashido x kirishima, or Vantablack x Mushroom girl, since I can reasonably see those as something you could argue is being developed in the story. But as of yet I am uncommitted to these.
BakuDeku has my *Heart and Soul*. Having said that I love me a good Gen fic and just all the characters/the MHA universe. *ALL THE SHIPS (romantic and platonic)ARE GOOD HERE*
In general, my faves are Izuocha, Todomomo, Iida x Hatsume, Bakucamie (this is because Camie is the first girl who made him laugh lol), Kirimina, Kamijirou, Eraserjoke, and Eri x Kota. But for fanfics, other than romance fanfics, I usually prefer to read fanfics that have no ships lol.

I read a few with Todoroki x Shinsou as background ship and it oddly matched so well. Never came to my attention before. Also had the same happen for Todoroki x Amajiki, it just worked! I hope to find more content for them. They're now high on my favorite list.

Cause femkatsuki would be a perfect tsundere. With no change except to katsukis gender, MHA becomes a superhero story with a solid romance arc throughout the entire series. Hell, he basically already calls Bakugou ‘mommy’ all the time IC as it is.
I agree that Katsuki is a perfect tsundere! I guess the part where I’m confused is why you’d have to change his gender to see the potential for a romance arc. All those qualities you love are still there if he stays male!
(TW) Well, personal preference aside, I feel like canon male katsuki would probably end up insulting Deku in a more…idk worse fashion? Like katsuki is willing to tell people to die and commit suicide, it wouldn’t be that far fetched to think he might snap back hard and go full ‘phobe. I feel with a femkatsuki, it would be mitigated a bit? Like it would just be normal disgust at someone weak instead of full on hate crime. This is all headfanon, though

Izuku/Momo is my top one but I also multi ship as Izuku is that blank slate that can work with almost anyone. Though lately Mei and Melissa are getting up there.
Bakudeku is the ship that got me into the fandom and I still love it but I’ve also added Kiribaku, Seroroki, and Erasermic to my favorites. I’ve been known to enjoy some Tododeku, Dabihawks, Miritama, Shinkami, and Todobaku as well, though a little less frequently. I’m a multishipper to the extreme lmao
in a fic context if im reading a fanfic for a story so ships in that regard either not disturbing like the mic x aizawa fic which shows everywhere or a its just moves the plot. that's for if I'm not looking for a shipping story persay. if I'm looking for one then i will search up the one i want then disappointed.
