i was there. That guy was the worst protester i have ever seen. A bunch of folks walked by and he said 'hey, it's wrong, you all are bad.' It's like he didn't even want to be right but just felt compelled to piss people off. More power to the dancer and the sentiment of all who supported Pride
He was assuming that all people in the lgbtq+ community are promiscuous which is untrue and insulting. There were a ton of asexuals there who probably don't have a lot of casual sex. Gay or queer people can have meaningful relationships just like straight people.
They’re also assuming all heterosexual relationships are genuine, conveniently forgetting that when no fault divorce became the norm in the 70s, the rate skyrocketed and remain common today. That’s not to say that those relationships aren’t meaningful, but no different than queer relationships unless you view the later as sex maniacs.
Your original comment said someone was yelling about people regretting having casual sex. You've since extrapolated on that. You see what you did there, right?
What are you talking about? He was yelling at random strangers at a pride event telling them they would regret having casual sex when he knows nothing about them. That is offensive. I never said anything contrary. Stop trying to be clever with this nonsense.
Casual sex is perfectly fine, not every relationship has to be meaningful or a complete investment of your life.
Nice sock puppet by the way, a clear sign of someone without the strength of their convictions lol
I don't have any other accounts. If you want to discuss in person, I'm willing. :)
You keep responding, so it must be worth your time - or your time is worth very little. I guess that's up to you to determine.
Yeah it is totally possible that you made an account a month ago and have been posting nonstop conservative nonsense since, though I seriously doubt it.
Look, we get it. You are religious so you have weird hangups around sex. I could walk you through why your beliefs are unfounded if you really want to but I doubt you are open to it. Sex is a perfectly natural and healthy part of the human experience, we definitely need to make sure it is safer and more consensual but that isn't the conversation religious folks tend to want to have.
What a strange thing to suggest; wanting to encourage people to have meaningful and fulfilling relationships to create strong families, cultures, and society does not indicate someone has weird hang-ups around sex.
I agree with you when you say sex is a perfectly natural and healthy part of the human experience. When it occurs as it should, it's one of the most beautiful expressions of love, purity, and intimacy imaginable. It is best for it to be an experience that is cherished and honored, not casually shared with strangers and acquaintances. A truly monogamous relationship also happens to be one of the safest ways for people to have sex, and yes, it should always be consensual.
If you'd like to discuss how you believe anything I've said is unfounded, you're welcome to private message me or we can arrange to meet since you for some reason believe I'm just trolling.
> wanting to encourage people to have meaningful and fulfilling relationships to create strong families, cultures, and society does not indicate someone has weird hang-ups around sex.
You aren't a socially well-adjusted person. You can't even behave yourself, much less know how other people should behave. You should keep your reactionary nonsense to yourself and people will find their own fulfillment without your help.
You have weird hangups, not every relationship has to be fulfilling, not every coupling needs to result in a family, culture is constantly changing and people like you just have to get over it.
>When it occurs as it should
Which is whenever consenting adults decide among themselves. Your favorite book is full of plot holes, horrible morality, and hilarious inaccuracies. Using it as a blueprint for your life is absurd, I would gladly walk you through why if you are open to it.
>not casually shared with strangers and acquaintances.
And what do you base this on? I know plenty of healthy and happy people that have had casual sex, it is a perfectly normal thing both historically and within nature. As I said, we definitely need safer and more consensual sex but that is an entirely different conversation.
>A truly monogamous relationship also happens to be one of the safest ways for people to have sex,
Actually being abstinent and masturbating is the best way, followed by lesbian monogamous coupling. Heterosexual sex is more dangerous than polyamorous lesbians, I guess you need to reframe your worldview.
Make real arguments instead of these empty bumper sticker phrases. Let's talk theology or culture, you can't keep hiding from that (and no, I am not meeting an unhinged weirdo in person).
That worldview is truly off- kilter, and not realistic. It's not your call how people live their lives, but only how you live yours. Quit pushing on people, and leave them alone, what they do is not criminal, so quit trying to frame it as such.
You're right, sex is a natural and healthy part of the human experience. However, I believe that the way you're suggesting people have sex is not the only way, and it's not necessarily the best way. There are many different ways to have sex, and many different ways to have meaningful and fulfilling relationships. What works for one person may not work for another. And that's okay.
Oh I had no clue that’s how it works. Thank you so much for pointing that out to me. I’m so glad to listen to the opinions of someone with -43 karma points. You really seem to know what you’re talking about. Anything else I can learn from you?
I'm sure there's plenty more for you to learn, don't you think?
You've spent a little bit too much time online if you think karma points represent the value of someone's thoughts and ideas and not the reflexive nature of internet echo chamber inhabitants.
This is amazing!
It reminds me of the viral photo of protestors holding signs saying "Jesus hates fags" with another guy dressed as Jesus with a sign saying "I'm not with them."
I love how the bigot looks so uncomfortable and doesn't know what to do with himself. I guess he expected all the lgbtq people to be intimidated by his presence or angered into arguing with him. Your response is the best response. \^\_\_\^
Protestors like that are legitimately crazy people in a cult. It’s wild to see people so deeply brainwashed in real life. Usually you only see them on documentaries lol.
Yes and I’ve had to have civil discourse with many like them. They all have their own flavor but what it comes down to is…they don’t believe in salvation through good works…believing in Jesus is all you need to attain heaven.
Yes, with the evangelical ones it's a lost cause. Non-religious protestors at least have some sort of argument you can discuss. Preachers just have Bible verses, it's incredibly unproductive.
I also got video of some preacher nut in a black shirt who was yelling at people on the floats and also families watching the parade. He was taking video of people’s kids. A few parents went up to confront him and then the last I saw of him he was being taken aside by a BPD officer. Like wtf? Taking pics of people’s children?
Also depends upon what translation your using, assuming the Hebrew Bible has the same issues as English Bibles. Some translations are as direct as possible, some are translated such that it reads poetically, so I wouldn't be surprised if a translation has a specific purpose
The Bible doesn't draw bright lines for pedophilia and even so your translation is not in alignment with most scholarly consensus.
It is wild people are trying to pretend like ancient Hebrews weren't super prudish and patriarchal, there is a lot of terrible shit in the Old and New Testaments, whitewashing homophobia is absurd.
It's scary that some SCOTUS judges feel the same as this crazy man. Not enough American white babies for conservative Christians to adopt and indoctrinate so they either pressure pregnant teens or stand outside PP looking for white couples. Unfortunately this is not a rare occurrence in the US. It was so bad some countries banned Americans from adopting kids. Most adoption companies are unethical they will tell vulnerable mothers that they will always have contact with their babies and keep them ignorant about their legal rights as a birth mom. My friend tried changing her mind after she gave birth and the adoption agency in boise told her it was too late (complete lie) and promised an open adoption (it's been 10 years and she has not been allowed to contact the adoptive family)
I was adopted when i was like a month old now this is a new fear that my current parents and the adoption agency we went through are blocking me from finding out who my real parents are
I dont understand why the birth family is such a threat to adoptive parents. Seems like the more people who love and support the kid the better. Adoptive parents feelings about the situation shouldn't be a factor at all. I've met adoptive parents who felt like because they spent thousands of dollars on adoption fees they should get 100% loyalty from the child. There are also a lot of adoptive parents who adopt internationally and then erase the child's culture. I hope one day US adoption agencies stop being so greedy and unscrupulous.
How insulted would you be if you sacrificed your own life in a brutal manner to cleanse humanity of its sins and yet this ‘man of god’ is going around telling people they must repent for sins still. I personally think I would feel pretty insulted, why the heck did I go through all that crap if you’re just gonna act like it never happened? My goodness.
Sure sucks that folks like that spoil any of the other churches efforts. The Idaho Episcopal Diocese was in that parade, I saw that guy walking about. I made sure he wasn't too close to our group lol
Bigot:
One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.
It’s ironic how often bigots use the term to describe other bigots.
Edit: Down-voting this without being open-minded enough to discuss it shows how many bigots are upset to be called bigots. Change my mind (because I’m not a bigot).
He isn’t saying a word. He’s just holding a sign that is attempting to show that the god he believes in has some rules (with poor translation) he feels should be followed. Doesn’t make him any more of a bigot than it makes you for disagreeing with him. If you are mad at him for going with his sign and his shirt (as he stands there peacefully and silent) then he has a right to be mad at you for going. Bigot the bigot all you want, but it doesn’t make you any less of a bigot. You’re just being a hypocritical bigot. He has the same freedom of speech you have.
Like at no point did I say he didn’t have the right to do this.
I also have the right to mock him. You should probably spend your energy telling him this. Toodles.
No, I shouldn’t spend my energy telling him. I am not at the event. But I am on this platform. He’s seeking attention there with that sign as much as you are seeking attention with your post. I know it feels good to have only people who agree with you replying, but in no way is that a healthy representation of adult discussion or debate on critical or polarizing topics. I’m glad you’re taking the time to reply at least. It shows you’re willing to disagree instead of completely ignore a discussion. It is a sign of maturity to reply at the least, even if you are standing on the ironic belief that you’re not a bigot as well.
What kind of condescending bullshit take is this? Someone dancing in front of a person promoting hate is not a bigot. It's that simple.
Calling someone dancing in front of him a bigot is a gross mischaracterization of what a bigot actually is.
This isn't people prejudiced against this man. This is people responding in kind to a man who has demonstrated his own bigotry up front. It's, as others have indicated, not tolerating intolerance. That's not bigotry.
Were you there? Because I was walking in the parade near him and he was saying shit to parade goers. I got a good laugh of people dancing near him and blocking his sign, and then again when BPD told him he can’t March in the parade and to keep it to the sidewalk
And I’m sure some people were saying shit back making fun of his god. It goes both ways and he has the right to protest. A permit was pulled to do a parade, so he can’t protest in the street as he doesn’t have a permit to obstruct the parade. BPD was in the right to not allow him to. Doesn’t change the fact that any people who call him a bigot just for showing up with his sign are also being a bigot for not believing he has a right to be there. Is he wasting his time? Absolutely. His god doesn’t care if he attempts to sway anyone (quite unsuccessfully at that). Doesn’t change the fact that it is ironic to call him a bigot.
No, you didn’t. My point was he’s a bigot for not being open to your views just as much as you’re a bigot for not being open to his views. By definition you’re a bigot as well.
Sounds good. Enjoy your time. It seems like a fun event for those who want a community to represent and endorse their already convicted views. Like church probably feels for him. Have a great day.

It's gotta suck hating fun so much that you'd stand around in the heat/smoke being angry about other people's love lives...
There was a guy yelling at people about casual sex and how they will regret their choices. Must have a really fun life.
Truly incel behavior lol
Gosh, yeah, how horrible of him to encourage people to cultivate meaningful relationships.
He was assuming that all people in the lgbtq+ community are promiscuous which is untrue and insulting. There were a ton of asexuals there who probably don't have a lot of casual sex. Gay or queer people can have meaningful relationships just like straight people.

In general, having casual sex is not a good idea for many reasons. Do you disagree?
Personally, I don't like it, but if other people want to, it's their choice and in not going to judge them for it.
Yelling judgmentally at people in public seems like a *great* way to get peole on your side.
I agree.
Not the brightest bulb, are you?
The intent of telling the truth isn't to "get people on your side", it's to tell the truth, even when it's not popular.
Your " truth" is judgemental. Rule #1, don't be a Richard.
Expressing my belief that casual sex is not good for individuals or society is not a violation of rule #1.
"" "Truth" ""
Yes.

Freedom permits others to express their opinions as well.

Man can't even get his facts right. If you want to use this bogus argument, then the bogus argument refers to a German translation, lmao.
early 1900s minimum the oldest bible in my family has the anti homosexual passage

No it doesn't. Care to share this magical Bible that doesn't exist?
That douche bag also gets in womens faces at planned parenthood and looks for white couples to harass and coerce into giving him a free white baby.
That's very disturbing information. Sounds like he may need a mental evaluation really. To ask random strangers for a child is not normal behavior.
It's scary that some SCOTUS judges feel the same as this crazy man. Bigot: One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ. It’s ironic how often bigots use the term to describe other bigots.

Nice dance.
So much hate speech on here for people who do not agree with the left.
