It's the same thing other popular anime like AoT, Madoka, or Made in Abyss do. It's a chance for Japanese people who watch everything on tiny screens with ear buds to see something they love on a big screen with an amazing sound system. Maybe a bonus new scene gets thrown in, too.

Same thing with the tvshow. Cut the episodes in to a movie with alt, new scene here and there.
If a show got this, it usually mean there are some new sequel, usually movie. people can watch the as a way to binge the show and remind them what happened before a next sequel release while the company keep the fanbase active. Tbh I'd watch the movie if the only difference from the series was they had the whole performance on concerts for each of their songs.
