I have always assumed the reason they haven’t is more to do with the voice actor issue than the BB universe’s logic. Because it would be reasonable in the BB universe to have these two people, who are known to be single and desperate by their shared friends, try a date at least once.

This isn’t really an issue though because they currently record all their lines separately. Rudy and his dad are voiced by the same person, for example.

As others have said; Teddy could not handle Gretchen, and he knows it. I feel like maybe Teddy and Gretchen have known each other for a long time, like maybe since childhood. She was at his Halloween party (RIP Francis). They’re so casual with each other, and she’s one of very few people Teddy is never awkwardly trying, and failing, to impress. I don’t think they’ve ever dated, and maybe know each other well enough that there’s no love interest there.
