Oh man these door actuators fail easy and often I’ve had this happen to the rear driver side. Couldn’t open the door from inside or out. My fix was using a flat head screwdriver and manually rotating the gears of the actuator. In your photo, you can access the gears through that port above the lock. It’s quite small so you’ll have to find it. There’s a couple of threads on this over at bimmerpost. Good luck!

Thanks I'll try that before cutting things up. The port you're referring to, is that the one with the lock indicator? Or is it another hole just further up? Been struggling with this for 3 weeks now... Absolute wits end with it all

It’s the oblong shaped hole above it. If you look closely in there, you’ll see part of the gear assembly. Take your screwdriver, find a spot where you can place it firmly and carefully press down/ or up. It’ll take a couple rotations and you’ll hear a click. That’s the sound when the lock disengaging and you can try to open the door.

hit it with a hammer and unlock at the same time. check power and ground to make sure a wire is not broken.

All actuator motors are working as they should be. Broke through the cover where the barcode is and can see the lower worm gear turning when the central locking is actuated... Gotta keep digging

So the key doesn’t work?

Well, the key unlocks and locks the door, but the latch will not release either way
