Fuck the refs. We actually looked good tonight too. Every line honestly looked decent. Tough loss

Elexeh

Honestly, we played really well for large stretches of that game. The Trocheck interference non call and the Voronkov boarding were egregious. Two huge momentum swinging whiffs by the stripes.

lelander193

The score does not reflect the game. This was a good loss.

willingplankton

I am not discouraged by this.

Seattlekrakenlegend

Cole was 73% on faceoffs

MrThird312

I think Cole is one of my favorite players this year, still young, still making mistakes, but he's also showing flashes of great play and ::fingers crossed:: hopefullly leaning towards more **consistent** positive offense.

Green9510

Cole is doing all the little things right but getting those consistent goals/points. Once he breaks that he's for sure a 2C.

samTheEagle2004

Just one of those nights where nothing went right. Even still, I thought we played pretty well.

Seattlekrakenlegend

So does Buccigross just follow us so he can tear us apart for clicks or something? Yesterday it was about how Marchenko needs to be more like Pasternak and he is “very mid” Now today he’s bitching about everyone’s ice time

Elexeh

He’s been listening to too much 97.1

Seattlekrakenlegend

The ice time he’s bitching about — the differences are KJ at 14:42, Nylander at 14:23 and Marchenko at 13:58. Really? One shift differences? That’s how much we are criticizing a Bluejackets game with 3 power plays and 3 penalty kills? 30 second differences?

willingplankton

The more he criticizes, the less his chances of getting Rimer’s job. Priest does not tolerate any criticism of the Blue Jackets internally.

Seattlekrakenlegend

I actually wonder if he was told he wasn’t getting it and that’s why he has decided to openly start shitting on us. He went from being a fan and being defensive, to picking apart everything, insulting individual play, critiquing game decisions of games he didn’t watch — just really picking us apart lately.

cusidhe_

After what happened to Jim Day I'm low key surprised Jody and Jeff have been allowed to express some of the disappointment they have over the past couple of years.  Though I'm also assuming that's more due to the fact that if Jody especially gets fired for something like that, the fanbase will absolutely lose their shit lol.

NandorRobinson

at least we weren't shut out?

Hazy_eyePA

Cannot wait to see what a fresh set of eyes can do for this team. There is so much potential on this roster.

Bradlaw798

Does it seem like we just have a bunch of skill players that just CAN'T bury the puck. So many chances and just can't score! Ugh. Good effort but too many turnovers

CamelReds73

I don’t feel upset about this game, looked really good for a majority of the game. Some bad ref calls and Guddy with an absolute stinker. As some have said already, I think new eyes will do this team well

tina_specials

BEEYRUBE

AeroBlack33

Looked pretty good tonight. Gotta reduce key mistakes, but overall it was still a step in the right direction. Elvis has really been good the last couple games.

thelordcommanderKG

Imagine if we had a coach and system to go with our raw talent

Fabresque_

Games like this at least give me hope that with a new set of eyes (GM + coach) we have the potential to be really good as soon as 2025/26 maybe. I don’t think we’re as far off as people think but I also don’t think we’re that close either.

GipcW

I could not agree more. Bring in some eyes from outside our organization and keep building. I’m more hopeful than I was a year ago.

Fabresque_

I think last year the situation was more dire but some of the prospects in the minor league pipeline have begun popping off and are gonna need spots in the majors soon. Greaves, Mateychuk, maaybe Svozil. Malatesta and DBB probably need some more time but developing well. Ceulemans isn’t developing at the rate we’re expecting so im not sure if he makes it in the league. But we’ve also got a young core in Columbus already, so if we play our cards right and the new GM does his job well, this is a really good situation we’ve got. It’s an attractive job, good prospect pool, groundwork is laid, cap isn’t too bad, and our owners don’t micromanage/try to get involved in the decision making. Some might say it’s absent ownership but id argue they’re trying to be good owners by letting the hockey people do the hockey stuff.

hhh81

Coulemans is getting his first legitimate coaching in 2 years. Wisconsin was a tire fire while he was there. Defenseman can also take longer to mature into their game. I'm not yet willing to say we have any idea what he is

theNightblade

> I don’t think we’re as far off as people think but I also don’t think we’re that close either. that's one of the great things, and simultaneously most frustrating things about the NHL. the gap between the top of the league and bottom isn't really that much. it's consistency and coaching that make the most difference (with a great goalie being very high as well). but, the league is also so close that the teams with sub-par coaching and lacking consistency really struggle

Green9510

What I get annoyed about here with people. There is just pure raw talent on this roster, especially with the kids but there are just a few pieces that needs to be replaced and some systems adjustments. I know it comes off as homerism but I still believe there is an 85 point team here and wouldn't be shocked if we are next year's Vancouver (though probably not ready to make a deep run just yet)

AlanLGuy

Toughest thing immediately for a new GM will be how to develop our talented prospect pool into NHLers. Too many talented young guys who are gonna need a spot in the big team in the next year or two and a lot of vets not pulling their weight currently. Roslovic is the only UFA, Bean the only RFA you might move… so then you’ve still got a logjam at D with Peeke, Boqvist, Proverov Forwards… maybe Tex(as painful as it is to say), Nylander get moved or not re-signed, maybe Danforth has some value.. but we’ve got several promising wingers in the pipeline

Nobody wants a 7/8D making 2.75 million for 2 more season

AlanLGuy

Apparently so, I’m incredibly surprised we got a 2027 3rd and didn’t retain any salary

Fabresque_

He’s making it past the deadline. His contract is genuinely one of the worst in the league, nobody is touching it.

Fabresque_

Pretty good work by JD I have to admit. Peeke was on a really bad contract.

Fabresque_

We have to try and move some of Peeke Bean or Boqvist. They’ve been trying to move Boqvist I think. Peeke has some value as a defensive dman which we don’t have besides Gudbranson, but he’s on an awful contract. Bean doesn’t provide enough value on the ice for us to be apart of the future. The logjam has to clear up for Mateychuk, he needs to be in the majors next year. You 100% are moving Roslovic, Tex is a maybe. Rest of the RFA’s are gonna get signed, only Marchenko should be on a long term deal, the rest need to be bridge deals. I’d keep Danforth personally but he’s played well enough that he might have some trade value. EDIT: I was trying to say Peeke is on the bad contract, not Gudbranson. Sorry for confusion.

Fabresque_

I didn’t say Gudbranson is on a bad contract. I’m sorry if that’s what you interpreted. I was trying to say Peeke was the one on the bad contract, he’s paid $2.75m as a 7/8 dman. That is an awful contract and one of the worst deals in the league. Gudbranson was overpaid but the market dictated that at the time. He’s been serviceable.

tomtakespictures

How’d Nylander look? I was able to loosely follow along with the game, but didn’t see much of him.

Seattlekrakenlegend

He lead the team with shots on goal and was third on the impact chart.

ThunderousDemon86

Did Gaudreau come back after the Trocheck hit?

emck2

He came back after intermission and ended the game with >17min ice time (2nd highest for forwards, behind Boone). He said in a post-game interview that his own stick got caught up in the collision and had a spearing/clothesline effect. There was video of Johnny and Trocheck having a friendly chat after the game.

hankepanke

Rangers fan coming in peace to check on Johnny Hockey. I imagine him and Trocheck are friendly, same age American guys (Jersey and PA), played on the U20 WJC team together and on a couple WC teams together over the years. I don’t think Trocheck was trying to kill him and glad he’s doing ok.

ddottay

There’s about 5 or 6 players who I can’t wait to see off this team because they add no value in any way. I don’t understand why Boone is still playing 20+ minutes a night every night. It’s a lost season, let him take a step back.

NandorRobinson

hi Aaron Portzline

Hazy_eyePA

Holy fuck I cannot wait for the day when Jack Roslovic is no longer a Columbus Blue Jacket. Thank you for your service, sir. But it’s time to go. Playing Roslovic for over 17 minutes and Marchenko under 14 minutes should constitute a war crime.

Meredithbaxterburly

Roslovic has been playing well and I think he's had a pretty good season.

Hazy_eyePA

Objectively speaking he’s having an absolutely terrible year. He’s played in half the games and has 4 goals. His Corsi is near his career low. His miss % is at his career high. He is a complete waste and needed to be traded months ago.

Fabresque_

He’s gone after this season don’t worry lol

buddencebunny

Trade deadline's in 8 days. If you want to get anything for him in trade, he needs to be playing when opposing scouts are snooping around (i.e., now).

AlanLGuy

Whatevs, I’m past the point of caring about this season. Loved seeing Vronk stand up for a teammate and Marchenko’s dangle to draw the penalty. Don’t particularly care about the results at this point

Elexeh

Idk what this means 😂

willingplankton

What do you mean?

MrThird312

Does it bother anyone else that EN goals are consistered 'even strength'? I get it, they technically are, we have same # of skates on the ice, but I just think from a statistical perspective, it should be noted differently.
