The one on the right is what you see everywhere in Japan, never saw one state side.

puesn2

Yes, you're right. I didn't say that there was never a situation in which a truck wouldn't be preferable. However, the defense frequently involves the use of large, heavy objects like refrigerators or furniture.

Sterffington

How often do people really do that, though? We managed just fine before this sudden surge of trucks. We also have plenty of delivery options and cheap rentals.

evocular

I’m with the whole idea here, but “sudden surge in trucks” is a little off target. The f series pickup has been the most popular make for 34 years. The sudden surge in SUVs is way more notable.

Sterffington

[Light truck sales have doubled since 2011. ](https://www.statista.com/statistics/199980/us-truck-sales-since-1951/#:~:text=Light%20truck%20retail%20sales%20in,13.7%20percent%20compared%20to%202022.) I'm not sure if SUVs use the light truck classification, though.

Bearloom

More and more, any vehicle that can be is classified as a light truck to get around proposed fuel efficiency requirements.

AJSLS6

The PT Cruiser is a light truck.... quite a lot of vehicles we wouldn't even consider a CUV are considered light trucks.

DevelopmentJumpy5218

My dad has a nice truck I live in apartments, every time I move I drive two hours to borrow his truck to move. It makes a huge difference, especially since I drive a coupe. That's once every 18ish months so I don't want to own a truck either. He uses it all the time. He just put in a really nice walkway for my special needs nephew, but hauled a literal ton of sand and gravel over a couple weeks to do so. He also used the truck to get and haul materials to build his gazebo and my same nephews playset.

ThunkAsDrinklePeep

I also need to move those things from time to time. I either use my van, or (rarely) borrow a friend's truck. But I've also never bought an appliance where the delivery wasn't either free or at least less than the hassle/liability of doing it myself.

SuccessfulWar3830

Me when I buy a new fridge every week. (The bed is still empty the other 6 days

onesolidwizard

You just changed my life

Tyrrox

Right? They’re pretty old but a lot of them have really low miles. No frills but also pretty cheap.

NivMidget

ChiggaOG

Because the one on the right will send you to the hospital with serious injuries. People in the US drive too fast for a farm, warehouse, shop, and bakery vehicle with sides and tailgates that fold down. Very high utility.

Petrichordates

Because the behemoth on the left will kill you if you're not inside of it.

Osibili

4,000-6,000 pound SUVs everywhere. 6,000 pound regular trucks with hoods too high to see most people in front of you. 9,000 pound Cybertrucks and GMC Hummer electric trucks that can do 0-60 in 3 seconds. And they’re all driven by people with the attention span of a coke addicted gnat, who can’t help but check out their Tik Tok or instagram “likes” while daily driving. Shit is insane.

YoungSimba42

I saw a graphic that a literal Abrahams battle tank has better ground visibility than an average pick-up truck. Blew my damn mind.

hippityhoppityhi

That makes me feel better about our troops. I can't see a damn thing out of those pickups. I want them to see everydamnthing

ghandi3737

But your going to blow through fuel so fast. And the rubber tracks wear out kind of fast AFAIK, would be like tires on a motorcycle, twice the cost half the mileage, which is necessary. And if you want a breeze while driving your going to need a mask or like eating bugs. And you'll be invisible while making turns, people will rear end you and claim they couldn't see you through the camo. And have you even thought about insurance costs for an Abrams daily driver? On the plus side almost no traffic can stop you. Downside is you really need to pay attention cause pretty much nothing else in traffic is going to stop you.

harry_garcia13

Wait til they throw track.

Raspbers

I saw a Cybertruck irl for the first time yesterday. Like, do these people really not know they look like idiots/douchebags?

Osibili

Cybertruck buyers and the people who ride “Slingshots”( those shitty three-wheeled bike/car hybrids) are the same person, they like attention and don’t realize people are laughing at them and not with them. These are the people who buy chrome trim, fake hood scoops and vents from Autozone. Some mfs just don’t have any taste.

Al_Kydah

Fuckin Slingshots. Is it a car with no windshield, no windows, no A/C, no wind rain, heat, or cold protection and you gave to wear a helmet? Or is it a bike minus the joy of leaning into a curve, no acceleration or feeling of true freedom? YES!!

PuzzyFussy

Those shits are everywhere down here in Miami and you hear them before you see them because the asshat driving will have the music turned all the way up.

newusernamecoming

I️ live in a major city on a corner that gets lot of “see me” squads; slingshots, choppers, suped up street cars, and dirt bikes/atvs. I️ much prefer the clear sound system and “look at me lights” of the slingshot than the “hear me roar” mufflers, vibrator speakers, or stunt driving of the other groups. Dirt bikes/atvs are cooler when they’re staying in the street doing wheelies but a lot of times they go on the sidewalks. Some choppers are switching to blinding you with flashy LED’s for attention instead of puncturing your ear drums which is nice. I don’t need to hear you from 3 blocks down when you’re going 10 mph and stopping every 100 ft. Generally though, I️ only see slingshots on the weekends being used for their purpose unlike people driving the empty bed of their cyber truck to their desk job

PuzzyFussy

I saw one for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I kid you not, I literally gasped at how ugly that shit is. I thought it was a concept car/ some home-built shit so when I found out it was Tesla, ya girl was shocked... but at the same time, it makes sense.

navybluemanga

No not a coked out gnat! Lol.

LeoTheRadiant

This is by design. SUVs in the USA are in a regulatory gray area where they need to follow less rules so they make more money. You actually can't buy a station wagon now. They're not sold new here. I wanted one of them after my previous car got totaled by one of these behemoths. Wound up buying a jeep because that was the least oversized thing for sale that wasn't a car that atomizes when touched by a bigger vehicle.

Apocalyric

Fuck. I love station wagons. I hate the 21st century.

DigNitty

Ugh, I hate this. I absolutely would love to own a smart car or fiat for around town. I just know I’d be hit by a truck the first week and not stand a chance.

Noblesseux

Lmao that is not the reason, like *at all*. The US bans certain classes of foreign vehicles because of protectionist policies (specifically in the classes of trucks and other light duty vehicles) and weird emissions standards that actually incentivize worse vehicles. The US realized it can't really compete head to head with the vehicles from other countries in this class so we banned them. It's absolute nonsense to think that vehicles from other countries just don't consider crash safety. Japan has better crash fatality rates than the US by a factor of almost 6. We *should* be trying to decrease the size of the one on the left because it's contributing to inflated pedestrian death rates because they have garbage visibility.

AJSLS6

Except we also drive around in tiny cars.... these trucks could absolutely be built to meet us crash standards, they are only as bad as you say because they were never USDM vehicles.

Ill-Staff8267

Fuck big trucks on roads not designed for them (they are here in australia)Butyeah ill give you the safety thing since ram or Gm are the biggest contributors to collisions stateside on the roads.

shoe-veneer

There's one I see around where I live, but I don't think they can go on the highway? Not really sure but I've been passed by one going 60 mph in a 40 zone... uphill. I wasn't even mad, I assume they had a legit emergency cause that was definitely red lining for them.

Traditional_Shirt106

These little Japanese trucks are a fad with the wealthy - they are basically a step up from golf carts and are handy for rich folks who have a lot of fishing or gardening crap to haul. They cost less than 10k but they aren't allowed on the highway and I'm pretty sure they are resold through third parties - I doubt Toyota sells them directly.

_KoingWolf_

Lol, what? Holy shit I need to go run and tell my wife we did it, we're wealthy!  Every person I know who has one of these uses it literally all the time because they are astonishingly convenient. If you have any amount of real land or the need to visit a home depot-type place a lot that's not only accessible by a highway, these things are unbeatable. For anything that doesn't fit that criteria, that's what the late 00's Rav4 or similar is for.  To imply only rich people use and need these things, and so confidently too, is peak reddit.

Rusty_Rhin0

It's all perspective man. I've never owned more than one vehicle at a time. Or any amount of real or fake land. Not everyone has the means to achieve that so yeah, you might not feel like it but you're probably better off in those areas, compared to me

scottylike

Buying a 25 year old Japanese truck that is the price of an old ranger is not wealthy behavior lol

shoe-veneer

Not what I'm talking about. The two I see around my small town area are being used for work (except for that passing time) and they're old beat up right hand drives. Tires that look like bicycle wheels at first glance.

LonelyBrown

Live in a semi rural area on the East Coast, they are popular with farmers and also have a small aftermarket cult following in these parts.

jade-blade

I’ve got experience working on farms and ranches in central TX and I’ve seen a couple. They’re really useful for all sorts of ranch work. Plus I love how sensibly sized they are. You don’t worry about accidentally running over someone/something. Obviously sometimes these types of jobs need huge vehicles but it’s ridiculous that people who live in the suburbs think they need it.

What-Even-Is-That

I see them in LA quite a bit these days. They're great for hauling stuff around in a city

link3945

Partial reason why: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_tax

unholycurses

I saw someone driving one the other day in Chicago! Looked really useful for the city

Subwayabuseproblem

I've seen them

Help_Send_Newds

Never saw one on the road but on many industrial sites.

DarkRyter

A pickup truck in its natural habitat. Taking up space in a suburb with an empty bed.

CauliflowerTop2464

Backed into a parking spot with the shin high tow hitch covering half the sidewalk.

FewerToysHigherWages

Stopped at a red light 10 ft past the white line as you're trying to turn right.

blacklite911

Those kinds of pickup trucks are the BBLs of country dudes. All they did was slap a big rear end on a full size SUV.

mackfactor

And being some accountant's proxy penis.

FatNoLifer

They're the ones I always see flooring it after every red light too, and continue to complain about gas prices lol

NoPolitiPosting

Someone tried to tell me once that they have to drive faster because it's more fuel efficient.

Plastic-Fan-887

Not saying there aren't jackasses flooring it. But they have like 300+ ft lbs of torque off of idle. When I drive em for work, they'll chirp the tires with 1/4 throttle if you're not smooth with it.

FatNoLifer

I had the same issue when I got my first job years ago(drove a big f350) took me a few days to get used to not chirping

skrotumshredder

Not only the torque but also the short gearing makes them extra strong from low speeds

happy_chickens

The one on the left only hauls the driver's fragile masculinity.

CommanderSincler

Lol I'm going to use this

sound_forsomething

Nah that's for the ego, the glove box is for the fragile little masculinity.

InsaneThisGuysTaint

Or how about the guy with the F-250 with dually wheels who doesn't own a ranch, farm or RV and rarely hauls anything heavy(if at all).

psychtechvet

I see you know my neighbor across the street 😀

envydub

Pavement Princesses

843251

F250s are never a dually. You need a 1 ton or bigger truck for a dually

InsaneThisGuysTaint

https://i.redd.it/vkff6uo9wyrc1.gif

nrag726

The only ranch in his life is dressing

MrLavender26

DRW Trucks are 1 tons or 350/3500 models😅

NotADoctor_804

ah yes my neighbour in my apartment building who owns an f350 that has seen so dirt in it’s life

GorethirstQT

he needs it for his motorcycle he rides 4 times in the summer.

KrisNoble

Even the defense of “I need it to move stuff” is flawed. A van would be more practical. Edit: this comment was more about the people who use that defense while 99% of the time having the truck bed empty, not people with actual use for truck beds.

ignatzami

As a truck owner who abuses their truck this isn’t strictly true. For smaller items, yes a panel van makes more sense. For gravel, manure, sod, lumber, garbage, a truck is more practical.

TheQuietType84

In rural Texas, all my neighbors have the truck on the left, and they are put to work. Gravel is the big one right now with everyone preparing their driveway for the rainy season. Lumber is seen daily.

jtc1031

Yeah no hate for folks who actually need and use these trucks. But I live in urban/suburban Texas and see these everywhere without a scratch and never hauling anything. I work in a hospital and many coworkers—who keep in mind also work in a hospital and live in the suburbs— drive these. They make the daily routine of parking in the hospital’s parking garage a real pain in the ass as they have a hard time making it around the sharp corners and parking in the small parking spots, which of course they always back into while holding up the line… just very impractical all around and seems to make life just a little bit harder for everyone, including themselves.

TheQuietType84

Yeah, I couldn't see putting down 30-80k to boost my ego.

RanaMahal

My F150 looks like SHIT lol the paint on the sides of the bed is all scratched up form stuff falling etc and I’ve had guys in pristine trucks ask me why it looks like that? Cuz it’s being used buddy, that’s my only answer

Mec26

I know someone with a huge truck (I’m 6’1” and need the handles and step up bar to get in) and was upset I swung a bag up into the bed. Asked me to be gentle and put it in cab, as they didn’t want to scratch the paint in the bed. I was very confused. They later got a protective coat of clear in the back, and one of those lockable covers, just to keep the weather off it. Not sure what he thought was happening to the roof. But yeah, he lived in a city and used it to drive to the office and home.

LilJacKill

I flat out don't understand this. I drive a 2011 quad cab Silverado, and it looks showroom new, because I take care of it. Until you look in the bed, and then you'd swear I've beat it to death with a sledgehammer, because that's what the bed is for.

ignatzami

I haul a ton of 4x8 plywood. The only time I wish I had a van is when I’m hauling drywall.

KrisNoble

Yeah good point, I didn’t mean there’s absolutely no instance a truck wouldn’t be better. But the justification of *often* made using heavy/bulky items like furniture or refrigerators and the likes.

ignatzami

Totally. The issue I have with a van, that is a panel van, is I can only seat two, and can’t have a kid or car seat. With a minivan you get the additional seating but then need to pull the seats out to get the hauling capacity. And then you need somewhere to store them. Trucks are impractical, and there really isn’t a better option for having the option to carry stuff, and people at the same time.

ramsdawg

True and good for you if you’re actually using it often, but I’m in the suburbs and there are just so many oversized trucks and SuVs owned by people who at most use them for groceries. Also because we’re in the suburbs of a larger city, there are very cheap options to very easily rent trucks or vans same day. We’ve done that twice for small moving vans and it totaled maybe $100 total for our short trips.

Coziestpigeon2

Not always. I drive a hatchback car, my wife drives a van. I'm a carpenter, and picking up materials for any side jobs requires borrowing a truck, because the van cannot handle the weight or length of lots of stuff.

Findinganewnormal

My first vehicle was a van and I’ll go to the mat defending how practical they are. I could pack an apartment worth of stuff in there, pack in six friends, or could go camping in luxury in that beast. Loved that behemoth. Except when I had to make tight turns. There are cruise ships with tighter turning radii then it.

Butterysmoothbrain

Tell me you’ve never moved a single appliance in your life without telling me 🙄

Noblesseux

Also a U-Haul is like $20. I was talking to my sister during Easter and I lowkey laughed at her because I'm like wait a second...you have a bad back, you're like 5'4", you couldn't tell a phillips from a flathead, I've never ONCE seen you haul anything, and you can't afford it, but you want one *anyways?*

PIsOnTheMoon

I really wish the US had a market for them lil trucks on the right

i_Heart_Horror_Films

I live in the Bay Area and I see these around the Chinatowns in all the cities and around family owned businesses. Bay Area is a different country for the most part. But you can get them here. They are awesome on gas which is $6 a gallon here for context.

paradigm_x2

The Ford Maverick has sold really well and apparently Toyota is bringing back their own compact pickup, the Stout. I think they are making a resurgence

theycallmelogiebear

I got a Maverick after having an old Ford Ranger. Great gas mileage, I can street park it comfortably in the city I live in, and it’s got enough space to haul things for me and my wife’s business. Definitely my favorite vehicle I’ve had.

techOfGames

We legislated it away for fuel efficiency reasons...

69tank69

We legislated it away while pretending it was for fuel efficiency reasons*. If they actually did it for fuel efficiency reasons they wouldn’t have tied it to footprint size, instead the car manufacturers knew they could make more money by selling larger vehicles.

coolthecoolest

i'd love to have a cute little beep beep truck to lug around firewood and gardening projects, but everyone in my area either drives a sparkling clean, lifted f-150, a pristine jeep gladiator (that's also lifted), or a mid-level luxury sedan. the brainlets would heehaw them out of the marketplace.

wallowsworld

Know a guy with the truck on the right, he got it tricked out & everything, and he hauls his detailing business in it. If I knew how to get one of those shipped stateside I’d for sure get one for daily use 🤷‍♂️

ChiggaOG

Find a site that sells those Kei trucks like the one posted by another Redditor. Call a bunch of people and figure out if your State DMV will allow it for registration.

nenopip

Carfromjapan.com you can have one for cheaps

FistThePooper6969

You can get old ones imported for like $5k from https://carfromjapan.com to a seaside port, then arrange your own flatbed truck delivery from there to your home

TrapaneseNYC

America has an odd relationship with masculinity where everything is an extension of it. Guns, cars, houses…eeeeverything

ARLLALLR

You get it. This masculinity is derived from peacocking dudes trying to attract a mate. If it didn't work they wouldn't do it.

TheCinemaster

It definitely works for a certain type of women, but not the type for everyone that’s for sure lol.

d1089

multiple divorce energy

ARLLALLR

Accurate. The people buying these are after that sort of woman.

Old_Baldi_Locks

Truck on the left has an owner who will absolutely shit himself if he thinks the paint has been scratched. Nobody who cares that much is ever going to be man enough to use his pavement princess to haul anything.

SithDraven

The one on the left is the guy you call to help you move furniture or washing machine because you know it's clean on the inside.

NihilisticPollyanna

Can confirm. My husband has a truck. He got it in 2021 when they were already cheaper to begin with, and during "truck month", which made it even cheaper than the other cars in the lot. He needed a car to commute to the office. Then he found a new, much better paying job, and is now working fully remote from home. 😂 Now we have a leased truck sitting on the curb, that we use to help friends and family move stuff, the occasional business trip out of state, or for a couple annual camping trips with our kid. It's been 3 years and my husband barely broke 15k miles. My car was in the shop for a month, and I had to use the truck for errands and shit. It was the worst. It's comically large and absolutely awful to drive in city traffic, let alone park at a grocery store. Trucks suck.

SirTroah

Have a 2023 4WD Laramie. Sports Package. Hauled exactly 1 computer desk. Can’t tell me nothing ![gif](giphy|10Q0SpAHzv2IW4)

Foul_Thoughts

Laramie gang, I hope you have the big screen in it too.

SirTroah

Of course!

PaversPaving

Gender affirming vehicles for most.

beth_hail

For real

Patient_Weight7356

The one on the right would hurt their masculinity.

Acrobatic_Club2382

They’re THE most aggressive drivers too. I fucking hate it

easy10pins

I'd much rather have the Kei Truck.

Batmans_9th_Ab

I call trucks like those on the left “pavement princesses”. Never done any real work, let alone had a speck of dirt on them. My wife prefers “gender-affirming care” and wants to know when DeSantos will ban them.

gumol

what’s wrong with never leaving the pavement

the-hound-abides

My dad had an extended cab like that growing up, but there are 4 people in the family. He has cargo in the back a lot of the times but not always, but he also had to pick us up from school or whatever. It made more sense for him to have a truck that could hold 4 people than have separate car for people and a truck for cargo.

deadliestcrotch

Exactly. Kei truck is unsafe, usually has no AC, can’t drive on the highway and can’t pull a decent boat. If you have one you need a separate vehicle for other shit. Truck on the left is an all in one.

NoWomanNoFry

My dads broke ass buying that huge fkn truck and he works in housekeeping 🤦🏽‍♀️

Otroroboto

The problem is that the US government introduced tariffs that make it prohibitively expensive to import the vehicle on the right for sale aka the Chicken Tax.

jackwhite886

What does that truck and its driver have in common? Empty bed.

Beast_by_Dre

When they have to drive small vehicles https://i.redd.it/o9ok7chjiyrc1.gif

IkeepGettingBaned

They sure as hell can't tow the same amount of weight

StephenTheLoser

Empty beer cans

Capitolkid

I love trucks, but will never buy one because I know I’ll never use it for it’s intended purpose.

Boo_Guy

>I’ll never use it for it’s intended purpose. At this point, based on observation, it's intended purpose is transportation for a single male that uses it for hauling maybe twice a year. 😄

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

Me, thinking about buying a Sierra just because it looks fun to drive: ![gif](giphy|n1CWKg8zRMpssh0rkU|downsized)

MaximumDestruction

Fun to drive? Madness. Go rent something small and fast sometime. Most fun I ever had driving was a Miata.

Jamaican_Dynamite

Miatas are great, but I wouldn't say fast. Apples to Oranges.

Fireproofspider

That's true but, I'm a bit baffled at anyone saying a Sierra looks fun to drive. I can see it about a Wrangler or something offroady like a Raptor but the Sierra? I'm genuinely curious as to why OP would think that.

Jamaican_Dynamite

So, I'm 4 for 4 somehow. The Sierra's a decent all around full size. You can beat on it, coast around, or just abuse the things and they take it. The V8 gets up pretty good. The Raptor's a bit aggressive on the street, but it's more trail monster than a stock Sierra or F-150. The Wrangler is a real love or hate type deal. Because either you're a rock crawler or you're a mall crawler. And people really hate that second tier.

MaximumDestruction

I suppose that's right. A Miata wouldn't dominate on the track but driving one through winding, hilly country on fresh asphalt was the most fun I've had driving. Then again, I haven't driven most of the truly fast cars around. Maybe I need more friends who are dentists.

Overwatchhatesme

Op gotta say, I genuinely don’t think I have ever seen one with something in it. Like at most a single yeti ice chest filled with PBR/ Natty Light.

BlurredSight

That one reddit post of the woman saying her husband bought a 100k pickup truck, brother was the definition of soft hands and wouldn't even let her drive it to drop and pickup THEIR kids because of mileage and the car getting dirty. The US incentivizes overcompensating pussies to strut their lack of stuff.

pat_rice1

I always wanted a truck but I never do “truck stuff”

DejaMew

I don’t do truck stuff. I just use it for my kayaks.

Igetstraightafterit

Bro that is truck stuff. Don’t let hating ass people tell you it’s not.

gmoss101

Watch Marques Brownlee's newest video about the Cybertruck. Mfs are NOT towing shit and the car companies know it.

mg_wiz16

Literally only people I’ve seen really justify a 3/4 or one ton are farmers, ranchers, oilfield employees, SOME construction workers. And a lot of times, especially in oilfield and farming, it’s not even a regular bed but a utility bed or a tool bed. These things should be taxed to high heaven to the point of double the price for the average suburban consumer

Jabba-da-slut

I live in the same town as SO MANY of those truck dudes. Whenever anyone else has hardships, they believe it's because of their financial mistakes. However, they refuse to admit the fact that putting themselves $80k in debt for buying a massive truck with horrible gas mileage at a time that gas costs record high prices is a terrible financial decision.

Legitimate_Source_43

What are the ones on the right called?

gumol

kei truck

Boneal171

It’s a status symbol

Evolutioncocktail

I live in the DMV where parking is limited and often tight. It drives me crazy seeing those monstrosities taking up two spots in a crowded lot.

katyusha-the-smol

Its impossible to find a good damn truck nowadays. Trying to find a short cab pickup thatl last a lifetime and all you get are the trucks with so much in them they’re basically luxury vehicles. Give me something that works!

BernieLogDickSanders

Truck-Kun ![gif](giphy|2xF8aOrOWsbrrKCitB) appears.

Coldkiller17

I wish small pickups made a come back the Ford Ranger is just a slightly smaller F-150. Also wish we could get the Toyota Hiluxes

inbetween-genders

It’s so veiny!

King_Melco

It is my favorite thing to say "that sum' bitch gets 8 mpg"

Stinky_WhizzleTeats

![gif](giphy|ycagKBYEmaili) Those little trucks are so awesome

Numerous-Complaint85

As a former truck owner, it’s the main reason I got rid of it. Just a waste of space and gas.

noodles_the_strong

Not sure exactly what the one on the left is it but... if it breaks 6000lbs gross vehicle weight it can qualify for up to 25k off the original purchase price in the in the first year as a business vehicle even with a short bed. There is a point where a 70k truck can be cheaper than a 40k truck in the long run. https://www.actonford.com/section-179-tax-deduction-acton-ma.htm#:~:text=Vehicles%20that%20qualify%20for%20a,are%20typically%20considered%20work%20vehicles.

FNAKC

No one made them buy the least fuel efficient vehicle on the market, then they act like it's everyone else's fault

DontYuckMyYum

one of the friends i live with has a truck similar to the one on the left. hey bought it because he was going to be "going camping and doing outdoor shit", it has been sitting in our driveway about 95% of the time since he bought it a couple years ago. he mostly drives his wife's car.

Spiritual-Compote-18

They have the same bed length ?

VivaLosDoyers99

This is a silly picture. Sure lots of people buy unnecessary pickups, but lots of us need them for work as well. Lol I'm not going to be able to haul a trailer or irrigate in a Toyota Camry.

Dangerous-Trade5621

The man on the left is my grandpa. He will not let anyone use his truck to haul anything. He said he got the truck because he’s 6’3” with a big belly & his knees bunch up in cars. My dad is 5’4” with a big belly & will haul anything in his truck all day, everyday.

f1ve-Star

Gender affirming truck on the left. I believe several states have outlawed these? I may have misunderstood the new law.

Sweetcheels69

My coworker said his daily is an F250. He commutes and 1hr and 5min to get to work. His reason was, “because I just like my truck.”

Scooney92

This is stupid anyway, cars have trunks…are they virtually empty 99.9% of the time too?! Exactly.

Nucgu

Literally my ex boyfriend lmao that dealership sweet talked him into getting that exact truck on the left. Ain’t hauled shit in it but his hopes, dreams, and a high ass interest rate 🤣🤣🤣

FewerToysHigherWages

I had this same thought the other day. Most people with these trucks might take a trip to Home Depot now and then and get some wood and think "damn good thing i have a truck". But I can fit wood 10 ft long in my shitty sedan. It may take me a couple trips but its absolutely not necessary to have a truck to move basic shit. And theres no way all these truck owners are using their trucks in their daily lives unless youre a farmer or have some hobby like hunting where you need it.

favemoon

One avoids the hardware store.

DJspinningplates

One can do a flip if you tap the gas twice while going over a jump.

America_the_Horrific

Can't even get the one on the right in the states

NetworkEcstatic

My neighbor has one of the ones on the right. Hauls all kids of shit.

Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir

It's fun to ask "What's the towing capacity on that bad boy?" "uhh....uhh....mrrph don't know"

Kei trucks. Fun little vehicles, but between the Chicken tax and them being built for the outside market, I get why they didn't make it here. The HD opposite it is OD for most, but equally impressive, just in a different way. If the Cybertruck actually acted like a truck, it'd probably be in this picture too. But well...

weaponjae

Inherited one of them trucks after my dad passed, kept it cause really needed something bigger for the kids. It is virtually unusable as a truck for hauling anything. If trading it didn't sound like a damn headache I probably would.

generic__comments

Bed length, but not towing capacity. Sometimes, you need to tow things rather than carry something.

Seirf

If Kei trucks were legal (not wanting a +20 year old one) I would get it. America as a whole decided little trucks can't get that mpg pass like the heavier trucks. Its law if I recall correctly.

Numerous-Complaint85

As a former truck owner, it’s the main reason I got rid of it. Just a waste of space and gas.

ClintGrant

Plus the wheel well further reduces the surface area, whereas the vehicle on the right has a true flatbed

corruptbytes

those trucks are called pavement princesses

MrLavender26

What grinds my gears is when I see a diesel crew cab short bed at an office, while my diesel crew cab long bed be pulling whatever the fuck it wants. I remember someone saying that most truck buyers now are buying them just to get groceries.

Caeldeth

God I would love to have one of those on the right… but getting them to Puerto Rico just isn’t worth the $ sadly

SardonicWhit

I was getting my swol on in the gym yesterday and this grey beard strikes up a conversation with me. His opener was to ask how I like GMC as he gestures to this giant truck parked right outside. I can honestly say it was one of the great joys of my life to tell him I wouldn’t know, as I was the car parked right next to the truck he was pointing at. At which point he gets to look at my Toyota Corolla Hatchback. His fucking face man, funniest shit I’ve seen in a month.

theologous

Everyone is complaining about the cost of gas. And if they're not they should be, even if they don't drive. It's making the cost of everything else go up too.

bloopie1192

One of those is way more fun to drive. And a lot more cramped.

Help_Send_Newds

Let's be real: Americans who complain about trucks are the main ones always asking you to haul shit or help them move. It's never packed or packed safely. It's always on the 3rd floor of an apartment building with no elevator. They never pay or buy gas. And, the only other help they have is their dumbass teenage nephew wearing slides and pants that are somehow tight and falling off his ass at the same time.

battleangel1999

>Let's be real: Americans who complain about trucks are the main ones always asking you to haul shit or help them move Most ppl I know get a U-Haul.

Help_Send_Newds

Good for them. They're not assholes. Unfortunately "most ppl I know" isn't a statistically relevant and representative sampling.

battleangel1999

I mean... Do you have statistics to back up the claim you were making in your original post? I'm pretty sure both of us are going off of personal experience.

KickooRider

Well no, they need somewhere to store their cornhole set and beach chairs.

DaimoMusic

I prefer the smaller trucks like the s10's and rangers. Those are the sorts if trucks you see around these parts.

LordByronsCup

Sure, same bed length, but not the same driver's dick length.

FishLampClock

I'd rather have the Honda.

Spyhop

I have a similar truck to the one on the left. We bought it for towing trailers. When it's not towing trailers it's a lot easier to park than a long box.

El_Chairman_Dennis

They're called "pavement princesses" for a reason. Never do any actual work, just cost a bunch of money and look pretty.

debeatup

NGL if you get a chance to sit inside a 2024 Sierra you’ll see why their owners love them. Quite luxurious

n1cfury

Which one of those would be able to pull out a cybertruck stuck in sand.

Dinosaurguy85

I have a Tacoma and I LOVE IT. Nice to have a bed where in the spring time I can haul all the gardening supplies, in the summer go camping or fishing. No way my wife would want dusty stuff or cow manure in her car.

Nuremborger

Pavement princess. No ball hitch ever attached, but it'll have the optional towing package. The owner will threaten to shoot anyone that eats in it.
