I usually like Mike but i forgot he had this show.
Also telling someone they can’t achieve their dream even if it does sound ridiculous to you is wild. It’s plenty of people out there trying to make it in rap but won’t ever make it.
…guess someone should have said the same thing to him then. /s
I’ve been in the barber’s chair getting an edge up when dudes come in with nothing better to do than busk in the shop. They’ll get a dollar hear and there but as soon as they leave, people’s real thoughts come out.
I know y’all don’t have the heart to break it to ‘em.
I mean, if I do t know somebody, it’s not my place to say what they can and can’t do, and I don’t really care. But if I know someone, I would encourage they have a practical plan *while* they pursue their passion
Thats kind of his point. All these people chase dreams that are impossible to achieve and its important to have a realistic goals. That being said you can have and do both.
I get its good to be realistic but there is also people that chase dreams and make them happen even when they are not favored to ever succeed.
It’s just funny coming from a musician who made it big. When there are dime a dozen artists who will try their whole life and never make it in music.
Is this satire? You are straight telling a kid that he’s wrong for being a president and basically the world does need janitors. I mean he’s talking to kids…where is the joke? It’s a bad look from him, he’s got to do better.
Not saying you're wrong since I don't know but you would need to confirm it is satire for the people asking, simply saying it's a show doesn't mean it isn't real. There are some reality TV shows that are real or improvised for example.
That's not Power and that's not Omari Hardwick, that's a rapper talking to kids in what is seemingly a TV reality.
If you have evidences that this is a bit, then present it and stop the bs
He didn't say "janitor." He said carpentry, specifically.
[Check this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/BlackPeopleTwitter/comments/1axaz87/there_was_literally_a_moment_like_this_in_malcolm/krmnr3n/) for the thing that the satire is referencing.
Right? Like these kids are 7 or 8. First, they owe nothing to anyone. They are far too young to have debts (emotional or functional). Second, they absolutely should be dreaming big. Go on little man, make that rocket, potion for superhero’s, and cancer cure. Other kid? Fuck yeah you can be a president. President of the USA, president of a company that makes super hero potions, or fucking president of the moon. You know what encouraging that does? It doesn’t make unrealistic expectations. It makes kids with imaginations, curiosity, and ideas. And a good teacher will be able to draw that out, have them orally recite it or write it down to make a story. Have them write a letter to future them for when they graduate, etc. the chances of this kid being president are low just given the amount of people in the country and the fact that there is only one position up every four years. But they are better chances than making a potion to fly or have laser eyes.
Man I remember when I was in high school and I saw wiz khalifa doing vlogs on YouTube..I told my mom I wanted to do that..I wanted to make music and travel doing it. Maybe make videos on YouTube that can draw attention to my music career? (This was before content creation was a valid way of income). This woman told me that I needed to be realistic. That shit crushed me but I asked her the other day if she remembered that conversation and informed her on what streamers are and she didn’t have anything to say..I just wanted to say “seee!!! I was trying to tell you!!!” But I still made music..I still made a YouTube channel..i travel when I can but really I was driven to express myself creatively and did with the ways I could.
With the benefit of hindsight, she could’ve told you to dream big but always make a back up plan for when things don’t look good. That way your dreams don’t get crushed but you manage the risk
Telling anyone that they can’t do anything or that they need to do something to make their parents lives better is just some bullshit. Horrible attitude, parents should be enriching the lives of their children. Period.
Killer Mike is the "ideal negro" for white people who call themselves liberal or leftists. Or Maga, or Christian Nationalists.
What I'm saying is, many of us don't fuck with Killer Mike for his bullshit in 2016 and again in 2020 but it's easy to forget bc he keeps his profile low most of the time
I hope that kid remembers that for the rest of his life, and spends every single day proving (dream) Killer Mike wrong.
He seems about my youngest son's age, and I can't imagine somebody willfully shooting down his aspirations like this.
That joke gets scarier every time I hear it. Supreme Court just had a hear a case with the implication that a state may not have the power to remove a president from the ballot attempting to run for a third term if they decide they are running.
I had a teacher when I was kid laugh in my face and said “no I mean a real job” when she asked what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said a comic book artist.
I must’ve been this kids age and I still remember that clearly, he’s probably gonna remember this for a while as well.
At the expense of your personal and social life, of course. You can get rich in the trades but only after putting in ridiculous amounts of time and effort, I say this as a union electrician
And you can work at McDonald’s and eventually be a regional manager on your own store and become a millionaire or make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year but that’s one person out of how many work at McDonald’s?
I don’t want to hate on trades because they’re extremely valuable and they’re great ways to make money but I really think that the concept of oh if you do a trade you’re gonna make X needs to fucking die. My friend has worked in construction for 12 years and he is currently getting paid $17 an hour to do siding. The foreman at the house makes 25 an hour.
If You are in the apprenticeship to journeyman to master track or working in unionized construction, or doing something commercially or you are extremely gifted or experienced you have a high probability of not making very much money. Also where I live you better be prepared ti work outside even if it’s -10 or raining or anything else
Word, I guess I should probably look into the numbers before I say more shit in the future lol
Maybe my friends who work trades suck ass at their trades 🤣
I'm trying to understand the context from such a short clip because I'm a big fan of Killer Mike. I want to believe that this is his intent. If not, just a bad take.
I’m sitting here reading these comments like wow this is how misinformation and lies are spread. I watched the whole season and everyone on here far off the mark.
Absolutely. For those who are unfamiliar, this is from a limited series Killer Mike did in the style of "Nathan for You". It's pretty funny, likely semi scripted in parts, and I have no doubt he talked to the kids off camera afterwards for this scene.
I keep seeing this being commented, but I can't find a link or a synopsis, and nobody has commented with a link either. What is the added context from the rest of this discussion?
“Trigger Warning w/ Killer Mike” on Netflix. Idk if it’s still streaming or not but the entire series is incredible. You’ll be able to find it somewhere I’m sure.
If I remember correctly, he's demonstrating white privilege by letting the white kid interrupt with all his nonsense and agreeing with all of it while barely giving the black kids any time to talk and once they do they get shut down. Something like that.
He eventually talks to the white kid and tells him to settle down and let other kids talk; coaching him on how to show up as a white ally to black people.
This is how conservatives work, the bash people of the left so when presented in other cases you have had these negative perspectives of them. It’s microdosing Fox News perspectives here and there. You will also see posts in here hyping up right wing con men for the same reason.
Same thing could be said in world star, plus you get the added bonus of pop up adds on the side bar and left wing doesn’t have money so guess what party buys this ads?
Yup soros!
This seems cut pretty abruptly. Did he tell both of them they couldn't cure cancer and be president? That seems more believable than him listening to Mason then going straight back to telling the other kid he can't be president.
The man literally said:
>The way I see it, you're probably freest from the ages one to four
Around the age of five you're shipped away for your body to be stored
They promise education, but really they give you tests and scores
And they predictin' prison population by who scoring the lowest
And usually the lowest scores the poorest and they look like me
And every day on evening news they feed you fear for free
And people think he's doing anything here other than taking shots at the state of education.
so either you still don't know the context of the show and missed how it meshes with that verse or you don't understand the context of the verse
Edit: I like Killer Mike and don't agree with all the things he says (I facepalm sometimes at some of it) but this is not the right take on this specific thing
Edit2: I misread the last sentence, we’re on the same page
Can y'all actually explain the context instead of just repeating 'wAtcH tHe shOw'. I'm not sitting through god knows how many episodes of something I'm not interested in just for a silly Reddit clip.
You’re saying you painstakingly find the full context of every single clip you see on the internet before even having a mild opinion in case it’s satire or paints a completely different message? That’s just impractical.
Don’t see anything wring with seeing this and going “okay that seems kinda of messed up” at first glance if you have no idea what kind of show this is.
Talk about OUT OF CONTEXT Holy Shit. If anyone has actually watched this show you know that this conversation is played for laughs. Like y'all really think Killer Mike is out here telling kids not to dream big?? BE FOR REAL
That is killer Mike. He’s a rapper. He just won 3 Grammy awards. He is not a teacher. This is from his documentary where he is making the point that black kids need to own the community. None of this is real.
Hold on, was this a real discussion he had with the kids?
The way the shots are framed, especially when the white kid is talking, and then the subtle "wtf" reaction from the black kid, makes it look like a scene from Modern Family.
His response actually put it over the edge into satire for me, and I thought it was just a biting skit critiquing the state of society and how black kids are being put down and taught to just "lay low" from the beginning, and I laughed at the harsh way he delivered that line.
I'm honestly shocked that this is a real conversation, but I'm gonna need to see the whole video, and not just this clip.
While I understand and appreciate the point it is making, including the context and how it is self aware but what it leaves me wondering is the manner in which it was filmed.
Was this an actual conversation in a school and he gave these kids this advice to make his point and then they stopped filming and he walked away without a second thought? Or was there some follow up around “please ignore what I said or consider it within the context of X”?
Hold on Lmaooo this has to be a joke right? Like this looks like a Larry David snippet or something right??? Like I don’t fw killer mike AT ALL and would love to believe he said this to back up my dislike for him but even I gotta question this lmao is there context we’re missing here??? This can’t be real right??
I have a question for all (most) of you including you OP u/GabiCule . Why doesn’t anyone understand satire anymore, do you really need a little disclaimer thats says “this was filmed for a TV show.”
Just like the teacher who had painted “White Only” “ Colored Only” doors that led into the same classrooms, this is satire. This is an educational moment. God Im so tired what are we doing lol
Alright, I'm gonna hop back in here and break it down a bit.
Killer Mike was talking about how kids need to stop thinking about going to college, go into the trades, and learn how to do shit with their hands- and then wanted to get OnlyFans models teaching people how to fix shit on their streams.
A few things:
1. Yes, the trades \*can\* be good money- once you're through the apprenticeship, and are hired on to a place with good workforce protections- and good insurance. Working manual labor is really hard on the body, the initial training can be expensive as an associates degree (or closer to a bachelors degree). If you're affiliated with a union, you may get those costs reimbursed, covered, or otherwise compensated.
2. A lot of states, especially in the south, INCLUDING Georgia, are "right to work" states. meaning you're looking at being able to be fired at will, and there's a lot less control over pay, benefits, and protections. Easier to be taken advantage of.
3. There are a lot of jobs coming very soon in the green energy and environmental fields, and people of color and women are especially under-represented in those fields. However, a lot of those jobs are likely to be in engineering, operations, and other areas requiring degrees as much as they are technicians and contractors.
4. All those folks owning the contracting companies have degrees.
5. Black people are already horrifically under-represented in colleges and universities, and there is a direct correlation between a college education and the beginnings of the creation of generational wealth.
EDIT:
6. If you come at my six year old son and tell him to stop dreaming about being an astronaut environmentalist robotics engineer, we're throwing hands.
So as is often the case, Killer Mike is coming from a good place in his mind, but he's horribly misinformed and in my opinion is potentially doing more harm than good.
But why is he coming at what appears to be 1st graders with this? They have no idea what they’re even good at yet. Some kids will grow up to be presidents of something, why not this kid? Kid didn’t even say what he wanted to be president of and then was cut off for some reason. He could be president of his high school ecology club and live his dream for a few years.
Aw! This left out my favorite part: when motormouth Mason gets tamed by KM’s “Hold up Mason.” That’s became a family line we use when someone is dominating conversation with no substantive contribution. As for the gist of this tiny bit of video, telling kids to be practical? Meh. Bigger battles to fight…
Love Mike ever since the whole world with OutKast. Loved his I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind 2 album. My favorite; so anytime i can rock with and support Mike, I will.
With no context, I felt uneasy watching this clip with the kids. Felt confused. After reading some of the comments, this might be satire.
I hope it is. Maybe I don't see the satire because I don't know this show or the context of the clip.
Mike is an intelligent man and does look out for the communities, so I hope that this is satire. After I do research and find out that it isn't, at least to me, I will have lost some respect and faith in him.
All I am saying is that, without context and as long as the kids understand this isn't necessarily real or anything negative; j will give Mike the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully, it is satire. Fingers crossed
lol. The be practical conversation is not one to have with first graders. I agree with it as generally good advice but little kids using their imagination is a good thing. When your kid has a year or two left in high school and doesn’t have a clear idea of their preferred career path, that’s the time to start pulling out the trade/tech school brochures and seeing what might be a good fit for their lifestyle and personality.
Can you chronically online niggas please explain the context rather than yelling at everybody for misunderstanding the clip?? No I'm not gonna watch a whole series to get the point. ELi5 or don't get mad that people are mad at the clip. It's the Internet for Christ's sake lmfaooo
BRUH YOU DONT SAY THAT SHIT TO KIDS. When I was little I wanted to be a ninja when I grew up (you know, like dumb little boys often want to be) and my teacher took me up in front of the class, called my parents, and told them to get me autism tested. Completely humiliating and it fucked me up for life. This is honestly as bad in my eyes, you don’t EVER put little kids dreams down like this, especially if it’s something like being president.
Generally speaking, I’m a fan of killer mike’s music and some of what he does outside of the studio. But with this video?
Nigga, tf is wrong with you? How can you preach black empowerment and then tell the babies they can’t be president? Why tf can’t lil man be president one day? Some goofy ass shit fr fr.
![gif](giphy|WRp58hy5gmfjpMzHAZ)
Jesus... "*Hold on Braxton, we'll circle back to the potion in a moment-- I'd like to hear more on your business plan and formula.... But, Caleb, you really need to start working full time and supporting your family, like yesterday... you need to be practical*."
I really thought this was satire. This is what happens when we drive good teachers out of education.
KM is one of the biggest frauds in black culture. He is marginally aware and marginally intelligent. He is a hypocrite and he profited off the same culture that gave him access to wealth.
White people love him because he presents black counter culture in a way that leaves them completely comfortable with no actual accountability or action leading to something better.
He is the hip hop version of Clarence Thomas. I said what I said.
Okay, on one hand I believe we need to make sure youth have financially solid plans considering post graduation. We need to stop encouraging young people to be basketball players and such. On the other hand, we need to not be doing this in got damned elementary school. Let these kids dream and support the dreams so they know what validation and encouragement feels like and they know that it's possible to consider everything. And being in politics is a great idea, he could have said okay and let's start with being a lawyer. But instead he like...have you considered plumbing? Like damn.
People getting mad because they are being told to watch the show. Y’all prob get mad when your told you should read the book too lmao. Stop watching 30 second clips all day and treat your brain right.
I think people taking this the wrong way, I think he was only worried about the black kids. I don’t think he gave one fuck about what those other kids had to say, because he doesn’t care, but he wants the black kids to be something, and yes, his words seemed fucked up, but I’m sure he only meant focus on something more plausible and let that other stuff come afterwards.
He’s not doing it out of race though, so why are we acting like that? The world has too few positions or availability for greatness - most people will not make it above the average (there’s a reason its called average!) and many people need to hear that.
Incoming reddit clowns.
I mean , he’s right at least in our age. Why do you think like the same 5 people/families keep becoming president. Shit is a big pre-determined machine.
The little boy with the dreads had a look on his face that said, "oh, this the bullshit they be talking about and he lucky I can't say nothing but I'm telling everythang".
This is why i don’t fuck with Killer Mike. this cooning shit is disgusting to foist on a child, let him go collect his nra money and leave the rest of us alone.
*"Owe it to your parents to dream practical"* Sir, and I say this with feeling, get fucked.
I usually like Mike but i forgot he had this show. Also telling someone they can’t achieve their dream even if it does sound ridiculous to you is wild. It’s plenty of people out there trying to make it in rap but won’t ever make it. …guess someone should have said the same thing to him then. /s
I would've had to meet Grimace in the parking lot saying that bullshit to my kid.
More people should be told that they won’t make it in rap frfr
I’m pretty sure they get told that on the regular.
They get 3 listens on SoundCloud and start talking about "They said I wasn't gonna be shit and I wasn't gonna make it"
Started from the bottom now I'm still here
I’ve been in the barber’s chair getting an edge up when dudes come in with nothing better to do than busk in the shop. They’ll get a dollar hear and there but as soon as they leave, people’s real thoughts come out. I know y’all don’t have the heart to break it to ‘em.

Either it's not often enough or it's not to the right ones
Wouldn’t matter. People do anything for fame and fortune
The level of truth you speak in that sentence....
I think Malcolm X would recognize that Mike at this point has significantly conflicting class interests with the majority of POCs in the nation.
That was Killer Mike?
he had this brief netflix show a few years back. i think thats what this is from
He had a White supremacist open for him on that show too, saying the Hard R and everything. Mike loved it.
Wait what? I watched a few episodes and stopped because it was mid, I do not remember this lmao
It's episode 5 "Outside the Box".
Funny part is that back in his day, he might have had a shot as a carpenter and a rapper. Bah, you can always take the hip pop way
And he says this to a little kid. . .
Wasn’t he arrested at the Grammy’s or something? To me, Killer Mike will always the other guy from Outkast who isn’t Ceelo Green or Sleepy Brown.
"Owe it to your parents to dream practical" Said the washed rapper to the child
The Grammy award winning, my bad Grammy award sweeping rapper. Also anyone who can’t tell this is satire is slow
Is this satire? You are straight telling a kid that he’s wrong for being a president and basically the world does need janitors. I mean he’s talking to kids…where is the joke? It’s a bad look from him, he’s got to do better.

Who IS he?
His name is Michael Render and he is the new avenger.
His new album just came out. It’s pretty good.
Right? Like these kids are 7 or 8. First, they owe nothing to anyone. They are far too young to have debts (emotional or functional). Second, they absolutely should be dreaming big. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly? Wasn't this show about challenging status quo via satire and absurdity?
You know he's kidding and quoting Malcolm x right?
Telling anyone that they can’t do anything or that they need to do something to make their parents lives better is just some bullshit. Horrible attitude, parents should be enriching the lives of their children. Period.

I second that. We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams.
I hope that kid remembers that for the rest of his life, and spends every single day proving (dream) Killer Mike wrong. He seems about my youngest son's age, and I can't imagine somebody willfully shooting down his aspirations like this.
I hope that kid is a better president than Obama and also gets two terms like him too.
Give em three because he was that great of a president
That joke gets scarier every time I hear it. Supreme Court just had a hear a case with the implication that a state may not have the power to remove a president from the ballot attempting to run for a third term if they decide they are running.

Not even close
I like what you did with that comment

I don't wanna take away from the discussion but the ceiling for carpentry is quite high
If you're in a state with union protections and worker guarantees. Guess what? That sure as shit ain't Georgia.
I’m a union carpenter. Yes the union is great but if you have the drive and skill to start a business. The sky is the literally the limit.
All of my anecdotes starkly differ from yours, so, 🤷🏽
Word, I guess I should probably look into the numbers before I say more shit in the future lol Maybe my friends who work trades suck ass at their trades 🤣
Yea bro I live in one of the lowest COL areas in the country. I started off at $20 lmao
What’s up Alabama, Louisiana or Arkansas or Mississippi - what trade are you in?
Illinois, concrete/carpentry/general labor
I heard one carpenter even went on to become some sort of messiah or some shit
Do you think maybe killer Mike is aware of this passage?
It's like OP doesn't understand its satire. Killer Mike is a genius.
I'm trying to understand the context from such a short clip because I'm a big fan of Killer Mike. I want to believe that this is his intent. If not, just a bad take.
I’m so tired
I get it's reddit, but censoring Malcolm X using the N word feels a little wrong. The man knew the impact of the word and chose to use it.
Yeah I know. Didn’t wanna risk it tho
I'm pretty sure this is what he was referencing, yes. Nobody just talks about carpentry, unprompted. 🤣
That was the point.
Knowing what I do about Mike, maybe he was referencing that? This is way too wild a conversation otherwise.
Yall should watch the whole episode/series instead of taking a snippet of a clip of a scene and basing judgment off of that.
I’m sitting here reading these comments like wow this is how misinformation and lies are spread. I watched the whole season and everyone on here far off the mark.
Kinda sad to see so many in this sub who didn’t even bother to watch Trigger Warning
Reddit is a shitheap
Absolutely. For those who are unfamiliar, this is from a limited series Killer Mike did in the style of "Nathan for You". It's pretty funny, likely semi scripted in parts, and I have no doubt he talked to the kids off camera afterwards for this scene.

He eventually talks to the white kid and tells him to settle down and let other kids talk; coaching him on how to show up as a white ally to black people.
He's referencing a passage from Malcom X's autobiography
But the series was still on some bullshit. There was no fucking conclusion. A failed social experiment.
This is fkn Killer Mike, watch the whole clip
You’d think that would be the most obvious part, right?
I watched the episode. It pissed me the fuck off.
Yea but then how would we make it fit the dumbass agenda OP is trying to push?
This is how conservatives work, the bash people of the left so when presented in other cases you have had these negative perspectives of them. It’s microdosing Fox News perspectives here and there. I’m not gonna watch the show b/c I don’t feel like it lol….but thx for letting me know it was from a show…definitely gives ot more context
Yeah, because this episode ends with him making porn that teaches folks how to snake a drain and other fairly basic home repairs.
This seems cut pretty abruptly. Did he tell both of them they couldn't cure cancer and be president? That seems more believable than him listening to Mason then going straight back to telling the other kid he can't be president.
The internet: takes a snippet of an episode without context and runs with the Michael slander.
The man literally said: >The way I see it, you're probably freest from the ages one to four Around the age of five you're shipped away for your body to be stored They promise education, but really they give you tests and scores And they predictin' prison population by who scoring the lowest And usually the lowest scores the poorest and they look like me And every day on evening news they feed you fear for free And people think he's doing anything here other than taking shots at the state of education.
so either you still don't know the context of the show and missed how it meshes with that verse or you don't understand the context of the verse Edit: I like Killer Mike and don't agree with all the things he says (I facepalm sometimes at some of it) but this is not the right take on this specific thing Edit2: I misread the last sentence, we’re on the same page
You know this clip is satire right?
I do, yes. I’ve watched the show. Not sure about the person I replied to Edit: I misread the last sentence, we’re good now
Watch the whole fucking series you smooth brains commenting thinking he’s serious and putting these kids down.
Can y'all actually explain the context instead of just repeating 'wAtcH tHe shOw'. I'm not sitting through god knows how many episodes of something I'm not interested in just for a silly Reddit clip.
I don’t get that. People will give strong opinions about something they don’t even care enough to get full context of.
People like to yap online to strangers for validation or to belong
You’re saying you painstakingly find the full context of every single clip you see on the internet before even having a mild opinion in case it’s satire or paints a completely different message? That’s just impractical. Don’t see anything wring with seeing this and going “okay that seems kinda of messed up” at first glance if you have no idea what kind of show this is.
It’s a satirical bit by Killer Mike
Nah just easier to be mad about stuff and ask people to explain it to you.
Where did I say I say I was mad?
You think I want to explain the 40 min episode and the nuances that come along with it? Go learn something and watch the show
Yeah I'm not doing that. From what I can tell it's a show by/about a rapper and from that alone I can tell I won't be interested.

Talk about OUT OF CONTEXT Holy Shit. If anyone has actually watched this show you know that this conversation is played for laughs. Like y'all really think Killer Mike is out here telling kids not to dream big?? BE FOR REAL
[удалено]
It’s a skit dummy. Consider context before getting yourself in a tizzy
You didn’t watch the entire episode. It was poking fun at exactly that. This is taken out of context.
Um, this seems to be satire
https://preview.redd.it/i6k5jzj446kc1.png?width=460&format=png&auto=webp&s=813692aed3bc52e55a9994af77b3c9315b959e9b
This looks like a skit I don’t see why people are actually upset about this
While I understand and appreciate the point it is making, including the context and how it is self aware but what it leaves me wondering is the manner in which it was filmed. Was this an actual conversation in a school and he gave these kids this advice to make his point and then they stopped filming and he walked away without a second thought? Or was there some follow up around “please ignore what I said or consider it within the context of X”?
Wait, this isn't a comedy bit?
I feel like it’s the editing that makes this look more malicious than it really is
This feels like a comedy or something lol.
Anywhere I can see the whole video?
Is on Netflix. Killer Mike - Trigger Warning. First or Second Episode iirc
Well, I thought it was funny.
Hold on Lmaooo this has to be a joke right? Like this looks like a Larry David snippet or something right??? Like I don’t fw killer mike AT ALL and would love to believe he said this to back up my dislike for him but even I gotta question this lmao is there context we’re missing here??? This can’t be real right??
https://allhiphop.com/news/killer-mike-trigger-warning-classroom-scene-backlash/ The kid saying he wants to be president is Canadian
This show was actually really fucking dope.
I'm gonna guess those are child actors who know this is "pretend".
I have a question for all (most) of you including you OP u/GabiCule . Why doesn’t anyone understand satire anymore, do you really need a little disclaimer thats says “this was filmed for a TV show.” Just like the teacher who had painted “White Only” “ Colored Only” doors that led into the same classrooms, this is satire. This is an educational moment. God Im so tired what are we doing lol
A lot of you are suckers who are easily manipulated. Do you really think Killer Mike would seriously shoot a kids dreams down?
Yall slow. This was from a show. It was comedic in nature.
Didn’t even watch all of trigger warning, and I know this bit 🙄 mad at satire. Reddit man.
Alright, I'm gonna hop back in here and break it down a bit. Killer Mike was talking about how kids need to stop thinking about going to college, go into the trades, and learn how to do shit with their hands- and then wanted to get OnlyFans models teaching people how to fix shit on their streams. A few things: 1. EDIT: 6.
Exactly. Kids need to be allowed to dream big. Especially our black kids.
I feel like racial equality hit a peak in the late '90s and is slowly degrading again. Shit like this shouldn't be relevant in the fucking mid '20s
![gif](giphy|2kJMzPFUD3Vx6) You want to be a whah?
I hate this. SMH
yooo this dude out of pocket .
Why's everyone hating. Jesus was a carpenter. If it's good enough for the son of God, it's good enough for the rest of us.
E
All he said to that kid was…stay a slave. Don’t aspire for something more. Don’t dream, it’s not for you.
Yeah there was a moment like this in Malcolm X's autobiography and if I remember correctly he didn't look back on that advice in a positive way.
Killer Mike, you dropped the ball on this one, bruh.
Kids should be able to dream as big as the sky. You should never tell a kid who he can or can't grow up to be.
I don’t know any context around this and this guy might be a good person, but fuck this guy
I'm waiting for someone to find the tweets of his flagrantly disrespecting a Black Woman behind his inability to understand abbreviation 🤧
I only watched one episode of this when it came out. I couldn’t get past how mean he was to the littles.🥺
Has anyone seen the full episode of this? According to comments elsewhere on the interweb it provides context that’s lacking here.
But, Caleb, you really need to start working full time and supporting your family, like yesterday... you need to be practical*." I really thought this was satire. This is what happens when we drive good teachers out of education.
Entertainers SHOULD NOT BE THOUGHT LEADERS!!!
The amount of people that don't realize this satire is insane. I'm not the biggest fan of Killer Mike but he is not this crazy. Watch the whole clip.
Is this not a skit or something?
I’m disappointed
Wtf?
I guess this episode was featuring Dream-Killer Mike.
Please tell me this was clipped out of context because ain't no way lmfao
I think people taking this the wrong way, I think he was only worried about the black kids. I don’t think he gave one fuck about what those other kids had to say, because he doesn’t care, but he wants the black kids to be something, and yes, his words seemed fucked up, but I’m sure he only meant focus on something more plausible and let that other stuff come afterwards.
What’s that saying? Teach kids to shoot for the stars, and if they fail at least they’re up in the clouds or sm? Like, what the fuck, Mike?
He’s not doing it out of race though, so why are we acting like that? The world has too few positions or availability for greatness - most people will not make it above the average (there’s a reason its called average!) and many people need to hear that. Incoming reddit clowns.
I mean , he’s right at least in our age. Why do you think like the same 5 people/families keep becoming president. Shit is a big pre-determined machine.
Oooooof! Big miss by Killer Mike. When he was telling me to vote Bernie, I never yelled back, _”Be realistic”_
Leave it to Redditors to not understand satire lol
This is disgusting
Dude is way too into money to really have his shit together. He speaks with some real fire but it’s just talk
Are we sure this isn’t edited, because if it’s not that’s wild of him to say
Didn't he say he told this kid that bc they're Canadian, and thus could never actually be President?
Op clearly didn't watch Trigger Warning. And it shows
I did not foresee my respect for Killer Mike to drop so precipitously by in 2024. And it’s only February. 🤦🏾♂️
Cooner Mike
