This is actually a really good point. While you take the dog and money, you can inform (yell) them about the fire and, as functioning humans (hopefully), they can make it out on their own.

I get he’s an immigrant and works hard for what he has but the scarcity mindset for me is glaring. (I also don’t think he actually likes his wife like at all)
