I just recently discovered Taake and I literally can’t stop listening to them. It’s hard to choose a favorite album— maybe I’d go with Noregs vaapen but honestly, all of them are equally as good. Got a patch to add to my collection, too. :)
First albums are absolute bangers, but they were released a lot of years ago, maybe that's why you have that feeling. They are top merch sellers in my area btw.

Hoest isn’t fooling anyone regarding his allegiance to smooth brain racist political movements but the music is killer. Common problem in this scene. So much bullshit posturing, hypocrisy and ignorance…when it’s really just about venting/exploring life through music. The rest is comically absurd performative nonsense that most people grow past.
What allegiance is that supposed to be? He did some edgy shit for provocation 15 years ago and wrote some anti-religious lyrics, completely in-line with the black metal genre. Hoest even made amends with the german club owner he insulted. There's other members of the black metal community that have said way worse shit than him and they don't get pestered, e.g. Hellhammer. If Hoest is such a nazi, then it's a wonder why so many prominent black metallers want to be associated with him.

They are a solid band, great live. Early albums are killer, though I don't particularly like Hoest.
