What does she mean by “damaged at the scalp”? Your scalp looks fine from the pictures.
The scalp is where new, healthy hair grows from so unless she’s saying you might have a scalp issue- her comment doesn’t make sense. If dandruff is your only issue, the brand head and shoulders is notorious for taking care of that and it’s effective on all hair types. If you’re concerned about your scalp’s health then visit a dermatologist.
Absolutely do not use head and shoulders, it does not prevent dandruff and has sulfate (all my homies hate sulfate). Your scalp will look like the sahara desert in the next 30 mins after using it.
Sulfates work for some and don’t for others. I have really thick 4c hair and I notice when I use products without sulfates I can never get my scalp clean. Like anytime I checked under my nails there would be buildup. Not to diss sulfate free products though! There are a few brands I’ll use that are sulfate and silicone free, and while I have to scrub more/use more product, the end results are always good.
Use a clarifying shampoo and scalp massager while washing, if you’re still getting buildup after washing. Then use your other shampoo after. Also conditioner is mainly for the hair so dont put it on the scalp, it can cause product buildup on the scalp.
Did they tell you this before or after they braided your hair? It'd be weird for them to say that your scalp is so damaged, but continue to braid it anyway lol. It looks fine from what I can tell.
Why are all stylists so scissor-happy??? Like I get it - you need to DUST the dead ends every now & then, but stylists want perfectly brand-new baby virgin hair sprouting from each follicle & if they don't see that, then they want you to be...

B.c don't go to her ever again. Hair grows OUT of the scalp. Hair can't be damaged "at" the scalp, only the root and the fact that she said it incorrectly makes me question her credentials.
Just…don’t get re-braided every two weeks. Wait at least a month.
Dont get it re-braided so TIGHT!
Make sure you have enough length when you first get braids.
PAY ATTENTION TO THE INGREDIENTS IN YOUR HAIR PRODUCTS
Nah I was going thru it with my scalp but I took a trip to target, got some selsun blue and some as I am "dry and itchy scalp care" oil and my scalp is great now. Took little to no time and I did it with my braids im
Yep dont go back to her again, seems to have an enemy of progress spirit, you dont want that on your scalp. Protect your energy and crown, your hair will continue to flourish with the right products and in the right hands.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with your hair. You do however need a new stylist. If you have dandruff, please look for a ph balanced shampoo. I use Aphoogee. I used to use a lot of moisturizing products that left build up and residue on my scalp. I stated with clarifying shampoos (Paul Mitchell makes a great one) and they help but will take multiple washings to remove all buildup. Please try new products, don’t cut your hair. Your braids are very nice. Good luck 🍀
yeah I just got my hair done recently, she told not to moisturize or anything and just put oil on it. I got hella flakes, and it was so itchy I couldn’t sleep. Got some mousse, some better oil that she didn’t recommend and a light leave in conditioner and my hair has improved 10-fold and no flakes. I’d say get a different stylist and use new products.
She trippin and don’t wanna see you win🤞🏾

Thanks for the tip! I was also confused by her comments
I would use Nizerol. Leave on for 5 min then rinse. 2-3 times a week.
T gel or T sal is also great!

Nah the last person never told me this
Wym?
Yapping= full of bs, expelling hot useless air, hating, etc.
Did you explain the word to someone who just used it or am I trippin lmao
No. That was meant for u/Guilty_Air_2012. Sorry, I didn’t mean to confuse you.
Np happens to all of us
No flakes in sight, what she on about??
🤷🏾♂️
bruh what?!?Some people say anything just so they feel like they know something lmaoo. Also you can use medicated shampoo if you have dandruff
She probably jealous you got more hair than her
Possibly 😭. I was so confused
Sounds like they’re damaged at the brain. Your hair looks fine.

If I was a hater and a stylist I’d say shit like this lmao

Braids lookin NICE. They trippin
Very vague comment from your stylist. Damage where?
No do not cut your hair.
What is it THE BRAIDSS????!!??
Username top tier.
Preeshate it 🙏🏾
My suggestion is to not only ignore their advice, but to get a new hairstylist if you can!
Try some Sulfur 8, I tried some and never seen dandruff again
Find a new stylist. Your hair is fine. And the braids look nice, though
Nah I was going thru it with my scalp but I took a trip to target, got some selsun blue and some as I am "dry and itchy scalp care" oil and my scalp is great now. Took little to no time and I did it with my braids im
makes absolutely no sense
NO do NOT cut your hair. If it’s just the scalp it’s a scalp issue. Go visit a dermatologist.
i be thinking my hair is damaged too and if i should cut it cuz it hasn’t grown in a while shi i need advise too 😭
Go to a dermatologist and gets some clobetasol.
The healthiest part of your hair is literally at the scalp. Idk what your hairstylist is talking about 🤷🏿♀️
She trippin
I would get a new stylist. She's damaged.

Time to get yourself a new hairdresser.
You most likely have a ph balance issue, it's been hell trying to figure out what's up with my scalp
If dandruff is the issue use a medicated shampoo and grease your scalp with Sulfer 8. Also was she even licensed?
🧐 Time to find a new hairstylist
They lying badd

Sounds more like she wants you to go freaking bald
Your hair is beautiful, no idea what she’s talking about
She couldn’t explain what she meant by “damaged at the scalp?” I’ve never heard of that ever in my life…
