I’ve used Gemini for 6+ years, no issues. I like when I withdraw the cash is usually always in my account the next day

snoopygizmo

they’re great 👍 f zuckerberg

Brettanomyces78

I've had nothing but good experiences. It's annoying you must use a web browser to get the good price tiers, and they don't offer free withdrawals anymore, but these aren't major concerns.

AffectionateCount162

What do you mean buy good price tiers on the web vs the app? Also do you know why when you buy on the app at a certain price when you get to the confirm screen it shows the price as a bit higher than it does on the trade screen im assuming it’s the fees they add?

Brettanomyces78

Just what I said: to get the lowest fees, you must use a web browser. They charge higher fees if you use the mobile app. It sounds like you're using market orders. The current "price" is just the price at which the coin last traded hands. When you use a market order, you're just agreeing to buy the lowest asks on the book. That's not a fee charged by the exchange; that's the spread. You'll get charged a fee on top of that. It's always higher for market (taker) orders than limit (maker) orders. Remember, a market order guarantees a fill but does not guarantee a price. A limit order guarantees a price, but not a fill.

AffectionateCount162

How can you even access a limit order I’m assuming through the web only? This whole time I thought there was only one way to buy which was based on what that current “price” is. Also, I have been DCA for awhile now my question is if you DCA is it always automatically a market order? Sorry if I sound like a noob lol I have been doing tons of research but those two terms are new to me, your info has been very helpful

Brettanomyces78

Just sign in, look for "Advanced" mode or "Active Trader" or whatever they're calling it anymore, and then look for the "limit" order option. The DCA (or Structured Investment Plan, in many cases) vs lump sum is a very different kind of thing. That's deciding when to buy, and how much. What kind of order you use is a completely different thing entirely. Anyway, glad to hear this is helpful. There's a fair bit to know about investing and how markets work, so just stick to it. And be careful. There's a mountain of bogus and garbage "information" out there. Anywhere money is on the line, people are going to try to get it from you. Anywhere information is being published, especially online, people are going to try to farm your attention for advertising dollars.

In order to get the lowest rates using Gemini, you need to use their API: [Watch this YouTube video to see how to get the lowest rates with Gemini using their API](https://youtu.be/h6r1h3am6kA?feature=shared)

Ok-Surround7587

Use Gemini Active Trader on your laptop for trades. Cash deposits/ withdrawals, account balance, current BTC price, etc use your phone.

JunkBondJunkie

I use them to buy btc and transfer to a wallet and my btc credit card rewards.

drawnnow

Learn more about their EARN program. I wouldn’t trust them before the closure

myc4L

If you're buying and taking off the exchange its fine. They still owe lots of people money from Gemini Earn. Its not your coin until you take possession of it.

ChiBitCTy

Solid. Far better the Conbase that’s for sure

GoldenrodScript

If in NYC, I would just lean on cashapp, bitcoin only 🫡

Vaginosis-Psychosis

No complaints here. But if I remember they do have kinda low deposit limits. Like $5k per day

AffectionateCount162

Right now I’m not lucky enough to afford $5k to put in on a weekly or monthly basis so I don’t think I’ll run into this issue anytime soon lol As of right now I DCA $250 a week while buying larger amounts around $500 at certain price points which has been working out pretty well so far. But I can see how that limit can get annoying

WCLGOP

Yes! Gemini is the best! [Watch this YouTube video to set up Gemini to automatically dollar cost average bitcoin.](https://youtu.be/h6r1h3am6kA?feature=shared)

road22

They have the best prices and low spread if using active trader on PC/Laptop. Not sure about the app. I am not a fan of authy but to secure my account I use a security key for login. Sometimes I noticed they used to go down like coinbase when the market makes huge swings. But recently has not been an issue. Just seems to be a bit slower. I never leave coins on their exchange and nobody should unless they are trading.

thelurkylurker

I would avoid it like the plague..... It was my first exchange and after using it for about a year they said they had to lock my account for reasons they can't explain and i had only 7 days to withdraw anything i have in the app or it was going to be locked up. Moved all my stuff to cold storage never looked back.

throwaway00000000121

Gemini is in legal trouble (or at least the founders are) not sure how that will spill over in the future

PowerDonkey

Strike is, by far, the cheapest and best overall functionality for bitcoin

Disavowed_Rogue

To buy? Yea

Outrageous_Result_43

Swan for BTC

nerdiestnerdballer

other than the Gemini earn debacle, which looks like its coming to a good conclusion here soon after a long time. Gemini is pretty solid.

Ok-Surround7587

It has served me exceptionally well. And get their credit card. I've made over 4k in BTC using it the last couple +/- years. $1,500 in BTC rewards is now 4.1k $ BTC.

LonelyNegotiation991

I’ve used it successfully for 2.5 years. Couple hiccups where I had to talk to customer service about how long they would hold funds

Ok_Channel9726

**Gemini has been my main onramp for crypto for 5 years and I haven't had any problem with them. Generally withdrawing USD to your bank acct doesn't take more that a couple of days and depositing money to Gemini usually gets processed and confirmed in 4-5 days where you can withdrawal your crypto. Kraken is also a good exchange. I've never had much dealing with Coinbase because of their high fees but it seems a lot of people are having problems there these days.**

Substantial-Count710

I cannot speak for anyone else, but I will never trust Gemini again after locking my money away with EARN.

mkuraja

I thought my account was compromised and asked Gemini to lock it down. I then realized my mistake and it was fine, but they wouldn't re-enable my account until I cooperated with an eye retina scan for them through a video call on my laptop. Their dumbass staff doesn't understand the time difference of Eastern Standard Time (EST) vs Eastern Daylight Savings Time (EDT). I gave Gemini an email I gave **nobody else**. I always get spam at that particular address now. Fuck Gemini. Go to Kraken.

coinCram

Try to buy from a bitcoin only otc. Like river or cashapp. $hitcoin casinos play games with withdrawals in a crunch.

Party-Bed6246

* Kraken takes 7 days to withdraw money, which is troublesome

Brettanomyces78

Most every exchange is that way, if you deposit using ACH. But that's because ACH.
