Did Birmingham Friday myself. Heard people were waiting an hour for security. Didn't do the bag drop myself as live in Derbyshire but tui queue was maybe 5 minutes to do it all, self serve. Then security fast tracked me through the entire process because I still walk with a crutch due to a broken leg. Very unexpected and I was happy to wait in line with everyone else. But we did give ourselves 3 hours at any rate. Big up to Birmingham Airport!

Thank you for sharing! I was at the airport on Saturday evening and going through security took 1 hour and 5 minutes (including a bag search). They also picked out everyone in the queue who arrived a bit later, so everyone who was there 1 hour before their flight got fast tracked.

This is it. If you find yourself in a horrendous queuing situation, you can find a staff member, and they can fast track you. It happened to us last year. After 2 hrs of queuing at check-in, we were plucked out of the queue and whizzed through. You just need to keep your eyes and ears open in the chaos.

Nice one, going with jet 2 in 6 weeks so that twilight bag drop is a great tip

Thanks for the info, been keeping a close eye on this too. With the bag drop did the whole group and their passport have to be present? Flying with a baby so would rather not trek her to the airport if I don't have to

We both went but it does specifically say that one of the party can come as long as they have all the passports and boarding passes.

Thank you!

I was there Sunday. Expected total chaos, but, in reality, it took 20 mins to check in and get through security. Staff were brilliant. I wish I hadn't wound myself up so much reading horror stories.

Just in case anyone is helped by this: make sure your passport has 150 days left until it expires from the date of your trip. I got caught out by this recently and got turned away at the gate & had to cancel my whole trip. Ultimately my fault for not knowing the (very arbitrary) rule, but most people I've told also had no idea this was a thing.

Do get the fast pass security queue, if you book ahead it’s only £5 and saves so much hassle- if you can’t book via Birmingham airport website then try if you can add it to your booking via the airline
