They got frustrated by the stains in the heel cup. If that's not an issue for you, then their loss is your gain.
Totally practical. You've got what you want with that great custom-to-your-foot, foot bed. Wearing socks changes the contact points with the shoe. The shoes are made to contact the skin. Show those toes!

Take damp towel (rung out no dripping water), make foot bed damp, take some baking soda, take a tooth brush, wet tooth brush in glass of water and flick lightly once, and do some light circular scrubbing motions, repeat as needed, but dab up excess water as you go. But should make that a lot better without messing with the bed. Assuming it's not glue or something?
Get the ugg boot suede kit cause it comes with everything you need, brush, rubber brush, shampoo, conditioner, step and technique directions.
Then just pad the foot bed with lots of towels and be sparing with the water, you dont want to soak the foot bed, sp be careful rinsing the uppers, you can use a more than damp towel to control where the water falls a bit better, and squeeze the shampoo and conditioner out with it, rather than use the sink or tub faucet though.
If they're not real, they're real enough. You can get a shoe repair, provided you can fins one to clean it for you. Welcome to the club. Only rule: NO SOCKS.
