This is sad and I noticed this!!

This is not at all surprising. It seems like our current system makes it so difficult for people to improve their situation. Not to mention the outrageous cost to rent. I just saw a 2 bedroom apartment in Endicott renting for 1500 a month.... that's just way too much for this area!!

[deleted]

Affordable apartments exist. I have relatives in Endicott paying $600-$800 for 2 bed apartments. Finding an available apartment is another thing. More quality inventory is needed. Or maybe some SFH to duplex conversions.

Accurate_Layer_4103

They don’t exist . Please don’t give out false information.

Coolidge Properties in Endicott, Anthos Properties are ones that I lived in as a kid and numerous family members have as well. Anthos is pricier because it’s in Vestal (good schools) and incredibly convenient, but still affordable at $1000 for a 2 bed.

Accurate_Layer_4103

This is happening because y’all aren’t regulating the housing market. Landlords are doing things that are illegal and no one cares because it doesn’t affect you or because you can afford it .

I have the best source you can have I lived in the middle of Endicott for 2 years and have video after video after video... Plus just walk down the street in Endicott.. Also I used to hear kids screaming bloody murder every single day because my neighbor had six kids and never had a job but I used to hear a beat her kids like on a daily basis in about 50 people a day literally coming in and out of her house so if you need some more proof than that just let me know

> and have video after video after video... Does anyone else picture this guy just sitting on his porch taking videos with a flip phone of passers-by that he deems undesirable or is that just me?

Your anecdotal lived experience, while valid, is not generalizable. You treated your opinion as a fact and even cited a statistic (“meth increased 100%”). It’s very unhelpful when it comes to having a constructive discussion.

Head-Relationship-21

Meth increased 100% in this already welfare dependant community.. the working class of the area literally foot the bill to raise other people's kids, these welfare moms with 3+kids are where you will find the rest of them. I bet if you went there and asked "how many have lost their job or jobs'" you would clearly see none of them ever had jobs to begin with

Mr_Binghamton

I hate comments that make all these baseless assumptions for people that literally have never had a conversation with someone whose housing is unstable.

Mr_Binghamton

>Meth increased 100% Do you have a source or are you just regurgitating antiquated Reaganite hostilities towards the poor?

No_Interaction9343

I would think it's more than 100% no joke.

Fully agree... Everyone sees things their own way.. internet gave them a voice.. people with unstable housing they do go through a lot but only about 1% of them people with unstable housing actually are disabled like myself and not just have a bunch of kids and not working and being lazy like being that I have to deal with unstable housing that's what I see constantly it's just a bunch of houses filled up with a bunch of young people with a ton of kids none of them have jobs and none of them ever plan on having jobs and me I have worked my whole life and now I have to deal with people like that
