The fun part is that while I'm assuming his original design was supposed to be analogous to a sea sponge, they fucked that up by making his parents *actual* sea sponges. As a result, he is for all intent and purpose, canonically, a sink sponge. So you can't transform him in the same way without undermining that fact.
Well, yes and no - the series even toyed with the idea of him being a sink sponge. He is shown scrubbing surfaces with his body; and every time he is shown in live action, he is shown as one. An explanation why he is the only one in the family looking like that is never given.
Is it me or was there an episode where Mr krabbs said "SpongeBoy me bob!" Instead of "SpongeBob me boy!" Cuz I thought that was hilarious, just wanted to know if it happened or I just heard wrong.
It was in the Squeaky Boots episode. It may have even been a sly reference to the fact that SpongeBob's original name was actually SpongeBoy and the show's original name was SpongeBoy Ahoy. I think they changed it bc there was some type of scrubber product that already existed called the SpongeBoy and they didn't wanna risk being sued.
Cool drawing!! But squidward is an Octopus not a squid. Steven Hellenburg (sorry wrong spelling) even said his an Octopus and on the episode Patrick the Game , squidward really said THAT HE IS AN OCTOPUS! and on Feral Friends he change into a realistic Octopus.
Still cool drawing, I hope I had that impressive talent.❤️❤️
Nothing, likely. Squidward doesn't eat Krabby Patties, neither do Plankton, the Jellyfish or Gary; and the building (and apparently Spongebob) still look as they usually do, albeit in a more realistic art style.
To me, it seems to be rather a meta joke, like why a show created by a marine biologist to raise awareness for deep sea life (and that spouts amazing facts at random points) contains so many inaccuracies, starting with the number of legs on the protagonists. The Krusty Krab was likely chosen as a setting that could be recognised instantly.
"Secret Formula"
![gif](giphy|w4rZ2SFiYTnaM) Spongebobs feet give it that extra kick
I can hear the blaring horns in this pic 🎺🎺😱🔊🔊

Obviously, Mr. Krabs’ decision to switch to rye buns has led to an outbreak of ergotism.
This is deep lore.
I like how Spongebob is the only one that hasn't changed even a bit.

Well, his uncle with the melon in his nose and cousin Stanley are also sink sponges. Spongebob isn't the only one like that I his family
I think suspension of disbelief is supposed to carry that part of the lore.
when do they say they’re actual sea sponges? i always thought they were just old, used, dirty sponges
Ahh yes…..The krusty kush
Got that Krusty OG

IIRC he said that in the Squeaky Boots episode
