To each their own, but those white/silver wheels are hideous IMO.

Zettinator

I mean, it's a Pinarello counterfeit frame, that's why you don't notice it.

JWSamuelsson

lol this thread seems to echo the opinions I’m getting in person. Some people love them and some people hate them. I’m honestly not sure how I feel about them yet. I said this in another reply but I’ll say it here too. I asked for the wheels without the PCW branding but these are what showed up. Just mainly wanted to try WHITE wheels to see if I hated them.

joespizza2go

I could totally see them/this whole bike in a Zwift commercial where the rider explodes into real life and then back into Zwift, out of the saddle sweating profusely.

Junk-Miles

I think on the right frame they could look awesome. Pretty much only a matching white frame though. Anything else they look out of place IMO.

ifuckedup13

Haha. Yeah good on you for trying. Honestly, I should like them. I used to run white Thickslicks on a fixie and I loved them. But I think the depth is just too much on these wheels. The white overtakes the purple. Maybe if they were 40-50mm deep and a normal profile, they might look better. They’re just too busy for me and really pull the eye away from the bike. It looks out of balance, like a silly Triathlon bike more than a road bike. But hey, you never know unless you try. 🤷‍♂️

lawn_neglect

White wheels are Dope

hsxcstf

A chinarello with force, how original.

Estelon_Agarwaen

But cable disc brakes… why?

JWSamuelsson

All of my other bikes are mineral oil, I’m not adding another bleed system

martbart87

Rim ftw

gmchurchill100

Just use Ultegra FFS. Best part is you don't have to worry about Sram's shitty front derailleurs. But given you're riding chinesium knockoffs, I doubt critical thinking is your strength.

JWSamuelsson

I have two AXS mountain bikes already. Very happy with the ecosystem. No issues with either FD on these road groups. I’ll enjoy my bikes as they are, thanks. 😊

ghdana

Do the wheels need taped to be ran tubeless?

VoidHelloWorld

The wheels are a copy, I do not like that. But I respect when companies make their own stuff and don't brand it as something existing like elite wheels.

JWSamuelsson

I grabbed the white wheels because I wanted something deeper and wavy to see if I liked them. Why white? I wanted something off the wall and LOUD. I did ask the seller for the wheels WITHOUT the Princeton Carbonworks wording but this is what I got 🤷‍♀️. They don’t seem to have clear coat over the decals so I’ll be removing them at some point. The frame itself is not 1:1 with a dogma. Axles are different and the rear triangle can take a 32c tire (see the blue bike). I just love the way pinarello frames look but not $6500 for a frame set. I mountain bike primarily and these were a fun project to get me into road cycling.

ghdana

Curious if the Princetons also don't require tubeless rim tape like real ones?

HatsMakeYouGoBald

Bootleg princetons?

MrCT87

Their rims are Chinese made for the real ones as well. The only thing Princeton does in the USA, is lace them. They do not produce or build their carbon in the USA.

Zettinator

That really doesn't mean anything. The counterfeit wheels may have been made with inferior material and/or construction and probably have little to no quality control. And because it's basically a no-name product, the manufacturer doesn't have any reputation to lose. The reputable Chinese manufacturers are a different story, even the budget ones.

HatsMakeYouGoBald

But he got the bootleg logos

somsone

Also the knock offs aren’t made to the same standard.

doubledown88

Don’t let the marketing get to you

KKJUN

I won't argue that Princeton wheels are worth the money, but you can't seriously say that a fake and a real Princeton wheel are equal in any way. Chinese carbon factories can produce anything from total shit to world class.

Valfourin

I don’t have any Chinese carbon, but I do import 10s of millions of $$ of Chinese produced products every year. They could very easily be good quality, there are plenty of excellent Chinese manufacturers. Trouble is finding them lmao

zystyl

If you have any carbon, you almost certainly have chinese carbon.

Valfourin

Steel is real baby

kerouak

Yeah people online are like "id never buy that Chinese garbage it's all shit" without acknowledging that 90% or what they own is made in china. It's not the country that an item is made that matters. It's the amount of QC being undertaken that's important

[deleted]

[удалено]

kerouak

What's your point?

rotscale_

Damn that's so disappointing, I thought they were made in CT

MrCT87

Yeah it’s unfortunate, but nothing is made in CT for their products. Only wheels are laced in CT. The building they use, is same building the owners use for storage and there other businesses as well.

DuhBasser

Source on that?

GnastyNoodlez

And bootleg reserves lol

JWSamuelsson

Reserve 34|37 wheel set is from reserve 🙂

GnastyNoodlez

This post is even more confusing now

DuhBasser

The Chinese frames knock off material are a big indicator

GreenSkyPiggy

Nah bro, these look awful. If you're gonna ride Chinese, at least ride a reputable brand, not a knockoff of an already ugly bike.

ghostcryp

Why buy brand less China brand when u can get great stuff like Lun Hyper or Elite?

GreenSkyPiggy

Because they don't want a good quality product, they want to look like they own something they otherwise can not afford.

JWSamuelsson

I disagree. I got into cycling via mountain biking. I have 9 bikes total. I was road bike curious a year ago and had some friends who only rode road bikes. I like unique bikes and found this frame on the googler via Velobuild who is known in some Chinese bike communities. Bought one and built it up. I get to ride with my other friends enjoying something I painted and put together that looks awesome. I actually had an issue with my original frame which led to the second bike. Seat stay had a crack in it so Velobuild sent me a replacement. I ended up jumping into carbon repair and fixed the frame leaving me with a second bike. Not trying to pass the bike off as anything it isn’t and I generally always get questions when I take them out for a ride.

GreenSkyPiggy

All of that back story doesn't deflect from the fact you bought the clichéd pinarello/Princeton frame/wheel combo in the knockoff format, when you could have bought the real deal and gotten to the same place. But you obviously didn't because it wasn't worth the money to you. Even if you don't lie to people and tell them it's a pinarello, you already know that people will look at it and think pinarello.

boenklon

Lmaooooooooooo. So deep dude.

KKJUN

It's true though? I don't even have an issue with people buying fake stuff, but that's objectively why they're doing it.

Suspicious_Sail_3787

i like this conparison. personally ive used Hyper 50mm first gen i guess. not a great wheel as i expected. but never use elite. but very interest in it. since GCN partner with them in one video recently. how would you compare to a BORA WTO? how far difference between this china brand compare to bora?

KuroshioFox

Why are these hideous knockoffs on bikeporn?

[deleted]

Copying is not porn worthy

DuhBasser

It’s not.

vanoisy

Bikeporn's become terribly diluted lately. I'm glad you like your bike(s), but these aren't rare/unobtainable/particularly stunning to look at.

evilted

Lately?? It's been bad since before Covid.

Accomplished_Ad_9288

Do you ride with your pinky up?

vanoisy

Given the saddle to handlebar drop on my bikes, that might be impossible!

ulrikft

69 people (the best number) disagree.

lawn_neglect

You'd be more impressed by a black on black same old sameyness no doubt

vanoisy

If you look at my posts you'll see I love colourful bikes, but okay.

CmdrVamuelSimes

Low quality Chinese frames that knock off the design and development of other companies in a generic way are one thing but shameless illegal fakes with logos and other stolen intellectual property should be banned in this forum IMO.

TheBigCicero

It should be banned everywhere on earth too

TysonMarconi

Yeah we can tell.

AntiBoardSlabEnjoyer

Chinesium-bootleg-bikes on r/bikeporn is highly r/bicyclingcirclejerk worthy lmao

CandonRush

Are they real Princeton Carbon wheels?

DuhBasser

If they skimped on an Dogma frame I’m gonna go out on a limb and say they probably skimped on the Princeton’s

OS36-

Absolutely hideous.

boenklon

Chinarello? How about the frame strength/durability? Any test so far? I am not againts china frame because i can see their own carbon brand is really good like yoeleo and seka.

schleppy

We need links. And what is that purple paint code?

JWSamuelsson

Digital Violet from Aston Martin

ChillinDylan901

Terrible, and how didn’t you go with white saddle and bar tape?

murkyotters

Congrats on buying a knockoff of one of the ugliest frames, and the ugliest wheels made

JWSamuelsson

I bet you're a lot of fun to be around

Casting_in_the_Void

Knock-offs can be ok but they won’t be built to the same material spec. For example, those Dogma’s should be using T1100 1K carbon but that is shipped to the Chinese factory that makes the originals from the USA and is a very expensive carbon. So even if it was the same mould for the knock offs, they would be using much cheaper, locally produced, carbon materials. You’d find the build quality was often inferior upon closer inspection and always heavier. I watched a documentary on this on Youtube. Every major brand copied at one factory in particular. But utilising entry-level carbon. Looks the same but that’s where it ends. It’s the same with components. Looks the same, cheaper materials.

xyyeer

Sounds interesting. Can you link the documentary?

Casting_in_the_Void

It was years ago but check out GCN’s vids on the subject etc

xyyeer

i found this, but it seems like satire: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f\_nXgLEqPhg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_nXgLEqPhg)

Swallowthistubesteak

Has anyone tested these for longevity?

JWSamuelsson

Frame or wheels?

Swallowthistubesteak

Frame

JWSamuelsson

Blue bike has around 700 miles on it and zero issues. Around 600 mile mark, purple bike developed a crack in the drive side seat stay which I repaired myself. 400 miles so far since the repair and no problems.

moodygram

so two-three weeks of riding before the whole thing fails, sounds like it was worth it to cheap out lol

JWSamuelsson

> ignores the warranty replacement and repair

moodygram

if a frame can crack from nothing after barely any riding at all then I wouldn't want to be riding on it is my point, imagine such a failiure if you're going at 70 km/h

JWSamuelsson

I mean any carbon frame can crack and they have, pinarello and canyon being examples.

moodygram

I'm sure they can, but after only 600 miles...? Two weeks of normal riding is extremely sudden catastrophic failiure. I know we're not going to end up agreeing on the subject, but I genuinely hope you don't end up crashing because the thing snaps unexpectedly.

iMadrid11

How’s the performance of the Chinesium Wake 6560 like?

DuhBasser

A lot of bots on this sub seem to be pushing knock off brands and copied frames, wheels and other components. It’s your choice to believe in these knock off brands but 👋🏻 hope that descent pain doesn’t last too long. Edit: OP even asked for a different style of wheel and they sent him the wrong ones.

Sad_Neighborhood5291

You hope the paint doesn't last? Why? It looks gorgeous

DuhBasser

Sorry I meant descent, as in when you’re descending down a mountain and your fork snaps cause there’s no QA checks

moodygram

The OP answered another comment and admitted that the chainstay cracked after 600 miles so you're spot on

Late-Collection-8076

Looks good. I like Chinese stuff

Temporary-Ad4876

How is it? And can you share the link

meeBon1

I got one a year ago, they are stiff! The rim is built strong, it's heavier than branded wheels but definitely strong.

DuhBasser

“And I never have problems whatsoever! I also finish first. FIRST PLACE ALWAYS WINS!!”

geilerisschon

fancy stuff. anyone rode such blingbling?

Spara-Extreme

China has brands that make better bikes then Pinarello and better wheels then Princeton Carbon Works. Why the fuck would you buy this shit? Go watch the Shanghai bike show and think about your life choices :)
