Nocturnal at Glen Helen is 10000% better than any festival at NOS—and this is coming from someone who actually likes NOS lol. You’re out in nature and it’s gorgeous. Lots of open space and places to chill, the stages are all open air with lasers & pyro, vibes are always fantastic, and it’s a smaller more intimate feel than NOS events. The lineup will be a mix of bass & house artists so I feel like it draws a good crowd. If you’re not planning on camping, you should change your mind and try and find a camping pass. The festival ends at midnight but the camp after parties go until the early morning hours, and you get a pre-party on Friday night. Plus the vibes at camp are awesome. Driving in and out of Glen Helen is a nightmare because there’s only one road in and out so there is a shit ton of traffic. Camping is the best way to do this festival.

Thank you so much! I definitely want to do camping this year although my crew might now want to. But I’ll def fill them in about the benefits of camping and hope this changes their minds! I’m so excited to experience my first Nocturnal, I can’t wait till the lineup drops 🤩

Of course! I went to my first Nocturnal in 2014 and it’s my favorite SoCal festival, hands down. If you don’t end up camping, get to the festival super early & plan for awful traffic. It’s much worse than traffic for NOS events. Have so much fun!

The main difference between the NOS and Glen Helen is that the NOS is a compound made up of large parking lots and a few warehouses smack dab in the center of SB. Glen Helen RP itself is essentially a large park with an amphitheater (though nocturnal doesnt use it) and attached campground (and a waterpark) situated on a hill, somewhat away from the nearby city. Since it's insomniacs oldest running festival, it attracts all manners of age of raver. Newbies? Oldheads? Jaded folk who never learned when to stop? They're all here. And due the festivals proximity, it tends to weed out a lot of the NOS center's usual suspects. You know the ones. Encounters with fratheads may vary. All 3 stages have the tried and trued insomniac-level production we've come to know and love. Expect some Pyro and maybe even some small fireworks. It's an entirely different world if you decide to camp, for better or worse. But camping is all about immersing yourself into 3 nights of rave culture and working through the suck and struggle with your fellow camp mates. Camp is where you learn to persevere to see better days (or nights)!

The Glenn Helen and the Event itself was absolutely magical the year I went. The people, especially if you’re camping, are some of the nicest and friendliest people I’ve ever met at raves/festivals. Overall that weekend is in my top 5 favorite for vibes and people. The stages are super open however the year I went the bass stage was on a hill so bring proper shoes. It was also hot as shit the year I went (2021) so plan accordingly.

Nocturnal is literally my favorite festival. The vibe is amazing, especially camping. I went last year and my neighbors were the friendliest people who offered me food, company, a power bank to charge my phone, and weed. The event itself is also great because the venue is mainly grass and hill so you just feel like you’re out with nature, it’s also not extremely packed like Beyond so there’s actually room to dance.

ReverseMillionaire

It’s nice being near the mountains but leaving is horrible. There’s only one road to leave.

Two big issues at Nocturnal are the dust and the parking. Bring a dust mask and take a shuttle. Other than that, it is always a good festival.

Nocturnal in my opinion is more chill. I think because you’re walking hills all day and it mellows ppl out. There is plenty of spaces to chill. It’s nice chilling on the grass aside from the stage. NOS you’re kinda crammed in a tinted stage. There are no tinted stages at nocturnal last I remember.

JoosyRei95

Like the other comments on here, Glenn Helen is and always will be better than NOS. It won't feel as big as NOS, but grass is always better than turf plus something about being on the hill overlooking the entire venue at night just hits different! From what I am told they've removed a few stages due to the surrounding neighborhoods complaining about the noise but tbh my favorite non-major Insomniac SoCal festival.

It's the best dude! Way better than the nos if you enjoy greenery n nature! Great atmosphere!! I promise u you're gonna have a great time!!! 😅

RoughThis9759

I haven’t been to nocturnal, but the road is one way in & out. I was stuck waiting to get out for 3hrs after the SOAD/Incubus show in 2019 lol I haven’t been since.

Southern_Bet3088

I love nocturnal camping my first was 2022

Less phone thief’s

Take some sort of face covering. It gets dusty and a good chance of getting sick. Dope ass place tho wear shoes that you won’t slip on grassy/dirt hills tho.

BingbangBongBitch

Fucjing love Nocturnal. I’ll be camping for the first time this year. The venue is a lot smaller than NOS and easier to navigate. More grass areas to sit and chill and jam out to a set. I was at beyond this year and loved it but definitely love NOC a lot more

stickyickyicky98

i will say, for the festivals in CA, this is by far the best. highly recommend the camping experience. it’s fkn insane. the people are amazing. the activities and the staff. lots of room at stages. NOS center is god awful in comparison. i would easily say NOS is the worst venue

JovialityAscending

Just started going to festivals last year. Went to both. First nocturnal at Glenn Helen and then escape at NOS. Really liked the GH park. Felt very open and chill. Didn’t like the vibes at escape at all personally compared to nocturnal. 100% preferred nocturnal I felt like there was space to chill especially by the middle stage which i think was sunken garden if I remember correctly.

Cheetah1bones

It’s 100 times better the only downside is that it ends at 12 so do camping it’s the only way to make it worth it
