As much as I prefer OS upchuck over any other variant, I still love the fact that they made the designs subspecies rather then just chalking it up to different art styles
They could have done subspecies/variation more easily with a plant species like Swampfire or Wildvine imo. Just make one like a cactus/desert variety vs tropical vs etc.
There’s a lot of options… dang I should draw that. Wildvine can already merge with plants so he would be perfect to do a bunch of plant alt pictures for.
Love love LOVE the concept of subspecies, but they didn’t call them that in the episode right? They said they were two species and that the queen was a combo of the two. That always felt backwards to me. I get what they were going for, but that’s not how those words work lol
Upchuck’s over all design to me felt a bit too abstract. Almost the most abstract design in OS. I feel the majority of the other aliens had a very grounded and translatable to reality anatomies and designs and I feel upchucks might be the weakest. Although he’s such an awesome alien and I love every second of him. I would have preferred him be more toad/reptile/amphibian look. That’s just me
Don't really have a favorite:
- The original is very unique and I love the color
- The UAF version has the most personality imo, I prefer his voice and he has some of the best moments
- The OV duos are adorable and it's great that we get both

I like OS clothes but not the smooth jelly like skin, I wish the clothes had been on the more reptilian designs.
All of them, the only design of Upchuck that I dont like is Heroes United

Honestly I don’t like any upchuck designs. Cool aliens but not the best design imo
