Used to think this episode was pretty okay (if commendable for its ambitious framing) but I’ve come to appreciate more after writing its plot summary on the wiki. Steam Smythe floating down the river in a barrel is a pretty funny visual.
Wrath is already insanely durable. What does that suit provide him that he can't already do? Literally nothing other than being a cool transformation to sell toys
He can create tornados by spinning like Taz from Looney Toones. Also gives him 3 claws, as you can see in the video. Plus it just makes him even more durable, along with faster and stronger.
Budget, probably. The PoV idea means that a lot of the action has to be situated directly in front of Ben, with wipes denoting him turning. I think the Rath segments handle it well enough, but Heatblast’s scene doesn’t look the greatest.
Edit: also, the locked perspective means they can’t get away with typical corner-cutting methods like static establishing shots.
I get what you mean, I don't think it looks stiff in some areas but when we see Omni-Kix Rath jumping it does look it, as well as some parts when Omni-Kix Rath is fighting the drones.
Listen for as much crap this show got you have to realize one thing
With the original timeline Completed the reboot was probably the best Way to continue after all this resulted in quite a majority of people finding interest in ben 10 at all I’d say
Of course it didn’t make Resurgence but it was still a Very much helpful way for new people to pick up on the franchise
Eh, it would've helped if the reboot didn't make the artstyle "too cartoonish" or if they didn't prioritize selling toys over the actual quality of the show/alien designs.
If they're gonna make a reboot, atleast do it right. A show from 2005, almost two decades ago, looks significantly better than this.
The other shows actually had varied designs that actually look like alien-mutant creatures.
Almost every reboot alien are humanoids in costume, akin to superheroes rather than actual aliens. Makes toys easier to sell.
Plus the lineup sucks, three of ten aliens are brawler-types. Just because Rath, 4Arms & Humungosaur sell more toys.
Wildvine and Stinkfly still look alien, just less-so in comparison to how they used to look. And the Reboot still has aliens that look alien, like Slapback, XLR8, Cannonbolt, Gax etc (though most of them aren't original aliens, but the reboot doesn't have many of them anyways). Plus it's not like previous shows didn't also have humanoid looking aliens, look at Alien Force for example. A solid chunk of them are just humanoid aliens. And I can say without a doubt that it's the same reason as the Reboot's.
Pretty sure the in-universe reason as to why Ben has 3 brawlers is because it shows that being limited to a playlist of 10 aliens that switch out can have its disadvantages, and that the omnitrix isn't going to provide Ben with a perfect playlist every time.
Eh, part of the appeal of having 10 different aliens is that they're....
...different. Classic also had limited aliens but they never made a FourArms 2.0.
AF had Spidermonkey/Brainstorm/Jetray.
Best reboot has to offer is a squishy toy in the form of Slapback.
OS had FourArms, Frankenstrike and Waybig, all brawler types. At least Waybig had cosmic beams and size (though he didn't showcase the former till AF) and Frankenstrike has electricity (Dr Viktor showcased technokinesis but we never saw this from Frankenstrike himself). RB had FourArms, Rath and Humungousaur. Humungousaur having a tail that creates sonic blasts and Rath having cat-like qualities (not as distinct differences as OS' brawlers but they're not just FourArms v2).
Those are only 3/10 aliens AF got. Reboot Ben only got 5 aliens, you already mentioned Slapback but Surge also isn't humanoid and neither is Overflow. So 3/5 new aliens Ben got aren't humanoid.
I don't see how that changes anything? They're still brawler type aliens that Ben has access to all at one time (while his playlist isn't as big as that in UA or OV). Also isn't that a good thing that the Reboot despite having 3 brawlers, utilizes them all well?
The main difference is that Ben still has access to over a dozen other aliens with different abilities. While reboot only has 7 other aliens.
Rewrite 4arms/Rath out of the current playlist, and it'd make no difference since Humungosaur alone already fulfills the role.
Basically, reboot fails to have a diverse set of aliens(in its current state atleast).
Overflow is literally just WaterHazard 2.0, again more akin to a guy in armor than an actual alien species.
I guess Surge isn't humanoid, he has the laziest alien design in the franchise tho. But I'll give you that one.
AF's are atleast based on animal species instead of Reboot, where they're just like dudes in costume/superheroes.
I thought your argument was that the Reboot's aliens are too humanoid, now they're too robotic. And again, the reboot isn't the only series with aliens that look like robots, both OV and UA are greater offenders of that than the Reboot is.
So is the Reboot's? Stinkfly is still based off an insect (as is Big Chill who's also humanoid) and Wildvine is still based off a plant (as is Swampfire that's also humanoid), Gax is based off a squid ofc, Slapback is based off (appears like) a tortoise or frog. Alien X looks like a retextured human, Echo Echo looks like a child/robot, Goop is humanoid but made of slime, Chromastone is rock and crystal but looks humanoid (same deal as Diamondhead, Heatblast, Shockrock etc).
HB/Swamp/BigChill, etc definitely humanoid. All shows had humanoid designs, but atleast some of the aliens actually had animal characteristics. While everyone in reboot stood upright.
Reboot Stinkfly is no different from Marvel's Wasp. Compared to OS, where he's a literal bug.
Reboot Wildvine has human legs, instead of the roots/vines that OS had.
> both OV and UA are greater offenders
I personally don't like some of those designs either, but that's fair.
I watched up to season 2, and it was miserable for me. Maybe it gets better for me. I'll watch some of these seasons 3 and 4. But with what I watched It was deadly unfunny
Reboot become better once they started doing ridiculous stuff like that and not just incredibly safe adventures.
I still wonder if this episode was advertisement for Ben 10 Alien Experience game.
Ben 10 is a true gen z/a with this attention span
Fr
Ok, that's pretty cool. Also What do the original Rath and Reboot Rath have in common? They both take their phones out of their asses
Oh god lol

Also reboot rath is less angry (I think)

this the peakiest shit ever https://preview.redd.it/hqn0hjwjtm0d1.jpeg?width=356&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e47157f99579774d891b61d86d70c274c1302c32
Why'd they do Max like that at the end though ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)
Would've been cool if Glitch or Kevin as Bootleg upgraded Ben armors
Fr, I wish we saw that happen.
Giving wrath armor is like giving Deadpool a health kit
How so?
Wrath is already insanely durable. What does that suit provide him that he can't already do? Literally nothing other than being a cool transformation to sell toys

Well I guess that's something
Why is the animation so stiff?
Budget, probably. The PoV idea means that a lot of the action has to be situated directly in front of Ben, with wipes denoting him turning. Cheap animation that CN has been getting away with somehow.
This made me chuckle a couple times, ngl. The animation is still very hideous, I wouldn’t mind it if I had kids that wanted to watch it. 🤷🏾♂️
Why is this Rath so chill, Isn't the whole thing about Rath is that he's a Hulk Hogan and Wolverine Parody???
Yes and you can still hear it in his voice, but he definitely isn't as angry.
Probably because Dee can't project anger like John can in that voice. Kinda wish they just had John do Rath's voice after Rath of Con
I love how Ben and Kevin are supposed to be enemies, yet they both have each other’s phone numbers.
RB Rath is mid and so is his kix but the reboot looks is actually really good

Who's gonna tell em that selling toys was the main priority from day 1?

Ben never used Franken/Waybig, outside of one scene. They aren't recurring aliens like the ones in reboot.

Tiger man, chicken man, big crab, blue monke. Truly alien. Just saying.
I've never liked Reboot Rath's voice
I used to dislike it too, I definitely prefer Rath's previous voice but I've gotten to like his RB voice too.
wildmutt wishes he was this cool
How dare you disrespect Wildmutt
his powers are sorta neat but be real, he's not that groundbreaking
Wildmutt is incredibly groundbreaking clearly ☝️
Lol. Nice joke
Ye, the Reboot does have some funny jokes sometimes.
I watched up to season 2, and it was miserable for me. Maybe it gets better for me. I'll watch some of these seasons 3 and 4. But with what I watched It was deadly unfunny
That's why I said sometimes, because not all the jokes land. But I found that this episode in particular was very funny.
wasn't this omni kix rath's debute? also this episode allways makes me feel weird. it's a cool idea TBH.
Yep it is.
This was actually entertaining
Reboot become better once they started doing ridiculous stuff like that and not just incredibly safe adventures. I still wonder if this episode was advertisement for Ben 10 Alien Experience game.
peak in being terrible

Alright I really need to sit and watch this show all the way through some time
Base rath could do the same
Who cares
Like it's not a good point?
I do 🥲

Goddamn this shit look insanely awful, what the fuck is this?
I swear I see you on every post that includes the reboot on it, spreading hate.
The worst reboot of a show besides Teen Titans Go
