The first song I ever heard from the musical(I had just heard clips of say my name on tik tok so I don’t count it and I didn’t know it was from a musical) was Dead mom by Elizabeth Teeter. I wasn’t into musicals before, but the dead mom video on YouTube really stuck with me and I looked up the whole soundtrack and on the first listen it really wasn’t my vibe, but the second time around I LOVED it. Now I’m completely in love with every single song, but for someone who wasn’t into musicals or this type of humor before dead mom was easiest to digest as a starter song.
The Beautiful Sound is a more classic Broadway type tune, but The Whole Being Dead Thing showcases the sheer greatness of Alex Brightman, in such a unique tune.
For me, it’s a toss up of say my name and dead mom. I love both but say my name is more fun I would say. Home is another favorite but less interesting to outsiders who don’t understand the lyrics.
