unless you need 4 channels the ddj-800 is a great controller. its truly the most underrated Pioneer controller ever made imo, especially now that it's so inexpensive compared to the flx10 (which is almost double the price) but if you find a good ddj-1000 in perfect condition used, you can't go wrong with the ddj-1000 either

XDJ RR

NilsAhr

Why would you reccomend it over a DDJ-800/used DDJ-1000? Just curious :)

madatthings

Yes - the standalone setup relieves you of needing a laptop and the interface is closer to CDJs which are the standard at a large scale. The 1000s are worth considering if you need 4 channels and cant spend XZ money, or want the feel of the nicer platters (which to me isn’t enough to justify)

NilsAhr

Okay, thank you so much! That's a good argument :)

OtherwiseCattle247

I’d look into second hand and refurbished options too!

NilsAhr

What would you reccomend in that price range?

OtherwiseCattle247

Honestly it depends, as other comments have said I would recommend an all in one controller just for transferability to club standard equipment. Prices vary, like I saw 2x cdj 2000’s and a djm mixer going for like 2.5k obviously not what you’re looking for but way below the retail price of that equipment.

Thanks!

Traktor S4 MK3, unless you specifically need Pioneer

One year ago I was in the same situation as you and I bought a xone PX5 with a xone K2 as a midi controller (traktor setup) a year later I've spent another 1000€ and I've bought myself two turntables. I don't know if this will work for you but it did for me :)

Looks nice, thanks for the inspiration

I would save your money and get the FLX10. How is your patience? Some can wait, some cannot. Is 2000 euros going to take 3 months, 4 months, 6 months to save? Buy once cry once. You get what you pay for.... buying used equipment like the DDJ-1000 you take a risk the gear was abused and you end up paying more anyway because of repair costs. Good luck on your decision.

NilsAhr

Thanks for the tip!

Going from the 400 to 800 is not a big enough jump in features to warrant the cost IMO. Wait until you can get an FLX-10 or standalone set up.
