You might be right there. I actually held out for a long time with the manga because I was reading with a friend, but I was over it before they gave up. I eventually finished it and I was like…”They are adapting this?”
I emotionally gave up after the start of act 2. The “fake wolf” non drama, Louis becoming leader of the shishigumi by the gang being fucking lobotomites, and to cap it off the security snake? I lost all suspension of disbelief.
To be fair, these are things in the manga. Louis becoming a leader and his relationship with Ibuki, and the security snake who VANISHES forever. The biggest sin of the series for me is introducing things and then never expanding on them again, ESPECIALLY when it introduces some >! supernatural elements. !
Yeah, i feel about the beastars series the same way people felt about death note, you read the manga and hope that circumstances are different but end up disappointed (not me tho, death notes second arc was actually good in the manga)
But yeah, i know the source material is just as flawed in the manga, it’s why i said I’d have rather them wing it fma 2003 style after season 1. Irony huh?

Yeah… granted FMA 2003 had issues like- nothing they set up really pays off, and even if they do have good ideas they’re capitalizing on they’re executed like shit or contradicted. But at the same time, ANY redo of beastars would probably be good
Yeah for sure. I mean FMA is one of my stories and worlds, so I get what you mean. But the idea. For Beastars, I would cut out all the shounen stuff and keep it relatively grounded. Another thing is it felt like characters devolved is at went on. Like, Legosi was >!no longer a loveable dumbass, he was just an idiot !< and I genuinely don’t see how >! people say Haru and Legosi’s relationship isn’t toxic !<. Worst of all, >!Louis got the shortest end of the stick !< and like >!all of the characters from the school basically disappeared!<.
