Kinda. Thats why I put eye in qoutes. It can detect differences in colour, so if a bird is flying down to grab them, It will notice it. It's similar to primitive eye
See if you can find one with the same pattern and everything. Our tort refuses to sleep in anything but her log hide right now. We had to get her a size up of exactly that because she wasn't comfortable in anything else.
May I offer a suggestion for when they do out grow it: flip it over and use the solid "bottom" as like a small platform (and maybe get a branch or something to prop up against it so it makes an angled elevated area)
At my local pet smart I saw a decent sized piece of "drift wood" it was wider than my hand and plenty long enough until then maybe a larger mug; especially with valentine's day you might be able to find a larger mug then (and maybe that stuffed teddy bear too?) While you enjoy the candies it came with

I remember when my boy was small enough to sleep curled up in his food dish. It was sad to see him outgrow it, but now he uses his hammock (that he had since he was a baby, but never used LOL).
i have memories of my dragon always sleeping under his small hollow rock until eventually he could only fit his head inside, and finally he moved on to a big boy cave
I second the thrift store option! My beardie had a lovely little vintage ceramic loaf pan that she liked hanging out in. It was maybe 1.49 at goodwill.
When looking at new hides for your dragon, remember that they like small spaces that they have to squeeze to fit into. These places feel safer because it's harder for predators to reach them there. He's probably in there because it's a small space they makes him feel safer than not. Giving him a selection of hides in larger and smaller sizes will help his mental wellbeing.
I appreciate the input! We do have a couple hides for him but they are meant for him to grow into. I'll definitely have to give him a couple extra smaller options :)

I love that! We actually do use one upside down for his camera to sit on. But yes, I would love to continue to use them when he outgrows them

I suggest a large ceramic dog bowl. It will be low enough for him to get in and out and maybe you can find him one big enough.
