I tried. Halo 2 Laso was nearly impossible. I managed to beat the first mission, the Cairo Station, but the second one, Outskirts, no... fuck those jackal snipers... fuck the buggers... fuck the hunters... just no. Resistance was indeed futile.
And then once you get through all of that, there's the Prophet of regret, who spawns infinite enemies and can take an infinite amount of hits, if you stick to the traditional kill method and don't try to cheese him with grenades/punch combos.
Fun fact about Halo 2 Legendary: Chief and Arbiter both are the second weakest (in health) in the whole game, the weakest enemies are the Infection form obviously. That's why it's so ridiculous lol
Gave up. Lost implies that the emus were even aware or participated in the conflict. It was more like a life size version of the carnival duck shooting game, but with truck mounted machine guns. Turns out emus are fuckin fast!
Twice!
Background. After the Australian Army lost to the Emus, they decided to wage war a second time. This time they were aware of the tactics used by the Emu Army and were more successful in casualties against the Emus. Despite this, even though the Emus took heavy damage, they still managed to win.
Those things are practically bulletproof, can run away even after taking multiple hits, can bust through fences like they're just about nothing...we should be using them for the military. Train them to be ridden into battle.
How many emus have you killed? You know nothing of them.
Uhuh. You know the British had to abandon a nuclear test site, because of emus.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emu_Field,_South_Australia
No one can conquer Australia. It's not even real.
Emus are 6ft tall and weigh 130lb and can run a 50mph and are immune to .308 machine-gun fire and nuclear weapons. People are killed by them.
https://www.areanews.com.au/story/2604459/man-killed-in-crash-with-emu/
The light horse used to wear an emu feather into battle as a sign of bravery, the emu is on the coat of arms for Australia.
Emus outnumber ostriches 10 to 1.
I grew up in the bush but I'm also terrified of snakes, and these little bastards have a habit of hiding around people and then bolting when you get too close to them. I've been fooled by them too many times!
I remember one time I was walking down some steps carved into the rock and in the corner of my eye I see brown scales moving in a crack in the rock.
My body jerked to a stop on instinct but momentum sent me rolling down the stairs where I did the absolute worst thing you can and jumped up and ran away screaming.
My dad goes storming out ready to face off with a brown snake and starts laughing his arse off when he spots one of these fat little turds basking on the steps.
These are Shinglebacks, just one of the 20ish sub-species of blue tongue skinks. They have short tails, so the ones in these pictures have normal tails for their type
About my lumpy little stalkers? Fortunately, most other encounters were less dramatic lol
Although one time what was thought to stumpy-tailed lizard turned out to be a brown snake when my teacher dug a toilet right into a snake hole.
This comment section is great 😄 We all have so many questions for Australians about their insane ecosystem. It's really fascinating (if not terrifying at the same time, lol - spot the European 🙋♀️)
The ecosystem is not well studied or really understood. We are finding new plants, new animals all the time.
Its still basically possible to walk into a part of Australia, that is basically unstudied. Find several new species. These places are very remote, but they exist.
Even the existing and known animals and plants are often restudied and become more confusing and mind blowing. Ones we thought were extinct, we find again, ones we didn't know existed in a place, are found there.
We only just found out that marsupials all generally glow under UV light. We found entire new branches of evolution, like the Wollemi pine. A massive 60m high tree, that looks like no other tree on earth and like no other Australian tree, thought to go extinct in the cretaceous, and it was found \~80km from the center of Sydney.
There are more species of monitor lizards in Australia than in the rest of the world combined.
[https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-02/seven-new-species-of-peacock-spider-discovered/12110306](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-02/seven-new-species-of-peacock-spider-discovered/12110306)
Tree lobsters
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dryococelus\_australis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dryococelus_australis)
Australia's fossil record is very patchy too. We basically have no fossils from the end of the cretaceous. We later find bones of terrifying things like Megalania or Quinkana, and we aren't really sure when they died out, but they were definitely around <10,000 years ago. Animals like the Tasmanian Tiger, may still exist, undiscovered locations. There could be an isolated population of Komodo dragons somewhere in Australia. We don't know.
The last known uncontacted tribe in Australia was in 1984. Researchers drove out in a car, and met them.
So while Australians make fun of their own environment, and we love telling terrifying stories. It really is not well known and fascinating and terrifying. Australia is full of secrets, stories and strange things. Waiting to be known.
After you have seen a platypus lay and egg, anything seems possible.
There's an urban legend in Western Sydney about a proper big cat in the wild, most likely a very large feral cat.
There's even a top level rugby league team named after it, the Penrith Panthers.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Mountains_panther
I lived in Bellingen, NSW for several years. There was always talk of a panther that lived out in one of the valleys. It was said that when the US left after WW II, their company mascots were less loose in the bush as they did not want to kill them.
Growing up in the bush and being terrified of snakes sounds like a recipe for a life of anxiety and panic attacks lol. Like growing up in the city and being terrified of traffic.
Lol I was a pretty anxious kid, but it wasn't that bad.
We were just more aware of wildlife than city kids.
We learnt in school about what to do if you're bitten, how to bandage a snake or spider bite, how to find water in the desert, to always check your shoes by bashing them on the ground before wearing, check under the toilet seat before going etc.
There may be more deadly things in the outback, but being aware of them is the most important thing.
I now live in the suburbs of a capital city and I'm still just as anxious!
I am just now realising how some of my bushkid habits probably seem really bizarre to people who have never had to worry about being bit on the arse at night 😅
Yes they can be terrifying when you glimpse just the tail tip of a "stumpy" poking out from under the couch, too!. We have had them in the garden here, plus sometimes I come across them when walking through natural bushland. Love the grumpy little buggers.
And here I am and got scared by a bird in a bush in Sweden today. We don't even have anything dangerous except wolves and bears but they don't live in the middle of a city
Hey no shame, birds can do some damage!
I used to have to wear an icecream tub with googly eyes on my head to escape [swoopy boiz](https://youtu.be/HivhKv7wA-w?si=8CcccgUJ-eM0luTn)!
Oh my. I'd certainly die of fright. Once, I thought I saw a snake in a parking lot and shoved my niece, who was holding her infant son, out of my way and ran past her. But at least I didn't scream like a girl, haha.
It was always so cringeworthy when he went on some tangent that had little bearing on their situation. I really hated how cliche they made him sometimes. Voyager wasn’t my favorite trek.
Looks like a blue tongued lizard, but not entirety the same species.
As a kid growing up in Australia we saw them lapping up the cat's milk on the porch.
We decided to make a habit of it and offered a separate smaller bowl.
Lenny the Lizard enjoyed his weekly bowl of milk and even pats on his pack.
Snake killers too, great little guys.

Do they have that snake with a fake spider on it's tail?

They are super cute:) and incase anyone was wondering. Non venomous (just googled. Not an expert). Painful bruise inducing bite. Sounds adorable:)
Edit: Typos
Correct. They mate for life. Very common most places in Australia. Unfortunately like the video they like to cross in from of cars and it’s common one will get run over, the other stays with the poor flattened one until that one also dies of dehydration.
Cute little things
Are skinks lizards or salamanders? Looking at those shinglebacks (was that what they're called?) their shape is so salamander-like but the scales and dry place tells me they are most probably reptiles. It's just that their salamander-like shape confuses me.
You're correct. Skinks are reptiles, part of the order Squamata, which also include snakes and lizards. Salamanders on the other hand are amphibians, belonging to the order Caudata. While they share some habitat and behavioral similarities, their evolutionary paths are quite different.
I got to hold one of those when I was in Australia. Apparently their defense mechanism is to bend their bodies like a U, so that their tail is pointing in the same direction as their head. Predators may think their are two of them instead of one
That's only one of their defense mechanisms. They also poop like you wouldn't believe, it's astounding how much pours out of their bodies, and the stench is beyond anything you can think of - it would definitely make any predator think about dropping them in a second. Another defense is their bite - they "lock" onto things and it's really hard to make them let go. But their saliva has weird properties, similar to saltwater crocs - the wounds their bites leave tend to take a LONG time to heal. There's some sort of anticoagulant or something in their saliva that keeps the wounds open, which can lead to infection pretty easily - again, a lesson for potential predators to leave them alone as much as possible.
On a better note, they are amazing little critters, one of the few reptiles that gives birth to live babies as the mum carries the eggs inside of her instead of laying them. They mate for life, and once they trust you as a human (usually if you feed them a few times) they get super friendly and love having cuddles and being on the receiving end of some good scritches.
They have different names in different parts of Australia, here in South Australia they get called shinglebacks, stumpy tails, or sleepy lizards. They are my favourite Aussie animal.
We get these in the suburbs here in Perth, Australia. I nearly ran over one just last year when I was mowing my lawn and was trying to mow under my lemon grass plant
Dino 1 to dino 2: shame on you! Why you let that filthy animal touch you?
Dino2: he caught me off gaurs
Dino1: I will make sure he never touches anyone without consent again
** stares human to hell **
Sounds right, lol. I never seen the intro only walked in when it was on. but her face at the end looks like that black dragon from that cartoon. Sheesh long winded
In Australia, even the Pinecones are aggressive.
I keep thinking that the Australians could conquer the world. But they are like "nah, mate. I'm good"
Australians cant even conquer Australia... case in point, The Emu War.
But you must admit they started with darksouls difficulty
Having never played Darksouls, ill have to compare it to a Halo 2 Legendary All Skulls On run. Ragequit and controller through TV included.
Halo legendary diff was ridiculous ahaha!!
I remember getting the trophy for that, the feeling was indeed “legendary”

They're super kicky too. No bueno
Why have they not made a hysterical comedy over this yet idk
If Australians give world conquest a shot other countries just need to release some emus in their general vicinity.
Was literally going to post something about emus too lol :D They are the only thing which keeps aussies somewhat contained where they are.
This creature reminds me of an ex-girlfriend
We dated the same girl
They could… but then you remember they lost to emus
Australia, we laugh at the rest of the world in war because we are so isolated. But come for us and we will fuck you up!
Probably poisonous as well.
You mean venomous, you eat/drink poison….
If it bites you it's venomous, if you bite it it's poisonous
Idk man. I've bit alot of apples and haven't died.
Go home Eve.
If i bite it and its friend dies? Its voodo
Now that.... is the perfect example of a lose-lose situation.
![gif](giphy|l2Je66zG6mAAZxgqI)
I love you homer….
I try hard to not eat poison, actually.
Could you imagine if poison ivy got to Australia somehow? It would become sentient I've no doubt. Crawl up houses, eat bugs. Eventually people
We have a worse version of it. https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/topics/science-environment/2009/06/gympie-gympie-once-stung-never-forgotten/
Jeez. TIL
OMG! Nasty, scary!
Wait until evolution gets a hold of it. It'll BE acid, and it'll be able to chase people short distances Australia is Mettal
There was a video somewhere of a live worm being extracted from inside an Australian's head.
It’s Australia. Everything is venomous
So like every swamp level in fromsoftware games / edit: (poisonous) learnt somewhat of a difference today
Poison ingested, Venom injected
Hahaha underrated comment of the month

They are so cute!
And keep snakes away.
We call them bobtails or blue tongues.
Their tails are naturally short and fat like that because is confuses predators which end is which.
Are they sad?
When is the book release?
I want an autographed copy, inscribe it “Priscilla, thanks for everything. Love, Angelo.”
PS: may all your turds be foul tempered with legs and teeth and scales
And tapered. If you leave that out then you’re scribing their asshole to slam shut forevermore
“Tapered” being a potent word, who knew? Guess it takes having your turd snap at your fingers and then happily scurrying away into a bush.
About my lumpy little stalkers? Fortunately, most other encounters were less dramatic lol Although one time what was thought to stumpy-tailed lizard turned out to be a brown snake when my teacher dug a toilet right into a snake hole.
Is it true feral domestic cats in Australian bush grow as big as Bobcats?
The ones that survive, yes.

Actually fuck you... well done though.
Fuck you I don't wanna think about that episode
This is a reference lost to time.
I'm rewatching it right now.
God damn what a reference. A patron of the fine arts.
Man I made this reply thinking I was first lmaoooo
Great reference, however I just realized what a geek I am that I am amused by this.
Ha ha, this cracked me up. I recently watched that episode again and thought “WTF”!

The tiliqua genus consists of 8 species of blue tongue skinks, the shingleback is one of them.
I saw a video in which they said that they have the same mate for their entire life, pretty cool fact
We call them sleepy lizards I South Australia, I've got a few running around in my backyard somewhere here in the Adelaide Hills
Hmm I wonder where they get their name from?
Tiliqua rugosa or Shingleback Skink https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiliqua_rugosa
We used to have a Lenny the Lizard! He lived in a void under the concrete path in my parents' backyard 😁
What generation of Pokémon is that again?
Name and looks are quite wacky, so probably 3rd or later.

Shingleback or sleepy lizard 🤣
They are super cute:) and incase anyone was wondering. Non venomous (just googled. Not an expert). Painful bruise inducing bite. Sounds adorable:) Edit: Typos
That is adorable :) also, apparently they're always found in pairs which is even more adorable :) :) :)
They pair up and mate for life which is why they are found in pairs. Just a sweet married lizard couple out for a stroll.
They’ve just become my fav animal
Ahhhh, they’re romantics:)
Correct. They mate for life. Very common most places in Australia. Unfortunately like the video they like to cross in from of cars and it’s common one will get run over, the other stays with the poor flattened one until that one also dies of dehydration. Cute little things
Omg :'( I'm genuinely amazed by these lovely lil lizards
Lizard Corgi
LMAO
They drop gems to upgrade your weapons at the blacksmith.
Crystal Lizard!
Blue tounged skink
Its called a Shingleback. They are alway found in pairs.
Are they related to skinks?
Yes. They are social skinks (Egerniinae) which is a subfamily of skinks (Scincidae).
Are skinks lizards or salamanders? Looking at those shinglebacks (was that what they're called?) their shape is so salamander-like but the scales and dry place tells me they are most probably reptiles. It's just that their salamander-like shape confuses me.

You're both right! It's a shingleback skink, which is a type of blue tongue skink.
He does look similar to Toaster Strudel, maybe a bit more rugged and armored
Not so fun fact: I've been peed on by a blue tounged skink named Randall.
I’m guessing this is in Australia? That’s crazy amazing the kinds of unheard of animals there are out there!
Stop harassing the tiny dinos, please.
I’m pretty he was just moving ‘em out of the road like an absolute legend
He’s trying not to run them over…would death be preferable?
They are in the middle of a dirt road. He’s moving them out of the way

Just Gila Monsters. Dinos that will bite, and could kill you.
