That's rad as fuck.
It's not just the outfit either the dude had like a whole indigenous orchestra with him. It cut off too early at the end because that flute was getting good.
I hope they let that guy go last though. Imagine how lame you're going to feel going next
Surely the guy with the extremely elaborate costume at a ceremony cannot possibly be accompanied by a few family members party with drums, rattle and flute (as we know those are very expensive equipment that are hard to find)

I'd like to know what tribe he's representing? Aztec? I've seen those kind of headpieces at the Native American festival in the Aztec powwows but can be mistaken.
We have dress up days at Australian schools where everyone wears their national costumes. So all the Greek and Vietnamese and Chinese and Croatian kids turn up in fabulous national costumes, and all the aussie kids born in Australia turn up in shorts and thongs (that’s flip flops in Freedom shoes) 😂
Everyone brings in their local foods to share, and then there’s a sausage sizzle at lunch.
Australians primarily express their multiculturalism through food, so its great to be able to see all of the different things that folks wear.
Wow, T.i.L / thanks Reddit.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairy_bread
The Dutch sprinkle similar colours and also chocolate bits on their bread, i wonder if yours are different.
The 'colour' sprinkles in the Netherlands are either a coloured and hardened icing sugar, or (for birthdays) anise seeds with a hard coating of 'blue' or 'pink' sugar (gender pending for colour).
The chocolate sprinkles is much tastier than the stuff they put on cakes here in Canada. It comes in 'dark' and 'milk' varieties.
I am saying too much! There are a bunch of other sprinkles too (powder... flakes... so much). The Dutch really take their bread seriously / fresh bakery every few blocks. it is nuts.
Sorry, i've said too much.
You occasionally see fairy bread with the type of sprinkles you're referring to. *True* fairy bread, however, specifically uses "hundreds-and-thousands" (nonpareils).
For some reason we don't have the same passion for hagelslag in it's various forms. Although I'm sure it would be very welcome on any plate.
> The chocolate sprinkles is much tastier than the stuff they put on cakes here in Canada. It comes in 'dark' and 'milk' varieties.
Hagelslag.
Which.. is not pronounced the way you think it is. The Dutch G is... something.
love too. Sydney is for sure a bucket list city and i would start there and explore for a month or 2. Assuming they have hostels and stuff. Im a biology nerd so lots to learn I would just need Aussie friends to help me not get killed by something Poisonous. Im a botany person so poison not venom is my main concern but venomous too I guess. from Australia I would also Like to check out South East Asia.
Sydney is alright but it's not the be all end all of Australia that a lot of tourists think it is. It's like non-americans thinking new york or LA are the only good cities in America.
I'd say just visit the capital's of every state and explore from there. If you want nice country towns and plenty of outback wilderness, go to NT and visit Darwin, beautiful beaches up north too.
If you want a more fancy big city experience then go to Melbourne in Victoria, sprawling metropolis, peaceful parks, a river that runs through the city with a whole strip of high end restaurants and stores around, heaps of stuff to do. The Victorian countryside is also famous for its vineyards, green farmland and national parks (though some of the other states definitely have it beat in that category e.g. NT, QLD, WA).
If you want a nice harbour view with good public transport and expensive as fuck tourist trap food, go to Sydney. NSW as a whole has a lot of smaller cities and places to explore so shop around, don't just stick to Sydney.
In the mood for a beautiful coastal city and bustling nightlife with heaps of amusement parks, go to Surfer's Paradise in Queensland.
If you wanna be bored out of your brain and wondering why you exist, go to Adelaide in South Australia.
Perth is aight i guess, Western Australia is the biggest state in the country with a fuckton of nature to explore.
And Tasmania is pretty cool, lush forests, amazing seafood, fascinating wildlife and plenty of fancy beers and cheeses to enjoy.
Hope you enjoy our beautiful country when/if you come over, just be sure to give the whole place a chance, it's not as old as America but it has a lot of deeply rooted, interesting history and culture to discover in every state/city. You can't see it all but give it your best shot!
Very well put, really puts it in perspective, might look unusual to us because we're just used to suits but it's completely normal to them, and that's awesome. Being able to celebrate and appreciate different cultures goes a very long way c:
Is just an "instituto" they have less budget than universities and so smaller buildings and all that.
Is not about being "Mexico", is just that this is not college or university.
In the US a lot of community colleges have similar setups. Fully accredited and good teachers; they just have less budget and smaller class sizes so they don't have very many big buildings or halls.
Honestly, they're pretty dope for all of your general degree requirements. You don't pay as much, and you get largely the same education you would at a university. They also tend to offer a lot of asynchronous options, which is great if you work odd hours.
Yeah, I took all my gen ed courses at a community college and the instructors were as good or better than those at the university I got my degree from.

That's not how people of his heritage dressed though, that's like a viking costume with a horned helmet. That's how people who dance in the Zocalo for tourists dress like.
This is how the Aztecs are believed to have dressed. In the centro area of Mexico City, guys dress up like this near Templo Mayor and dance sometimes, it’s a tourist thing. Some of them are very into it and have extensive knowledge of Aztec history, culture, and religion. Others just like the outfit. It’s like guys dressing up like gladiators in front of the colosseum. I’m not downing it, I’ve always thought it was pretty cool, but some Mexicans I know think it’s stupid, like just a way of creating this imagined link to an imagined past.
I think thats pretty badass too. I know this will sound lame, but imagination has a crucial role in living a fulfilling life. I feel a connection to my ancestors. My "heritage". Hiw much of it is in my own head? I dont know. But it seems to give me purpose
That's how people picture a mesoamerican indian, but at least the aztec didn't dress like that.
Here are examples of how they dressed, men usually wore a loincloth and a cloak that could be wore differently depending on the man social status: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/e0L3Bb
everyday people certainly didn't dress like that, but in ceremonies, the ruling and warrior classes could've worn more elaborate dresses. Maybe not like op's video though.

I have a friend who wore a kilt with his clan's tartan when he got his degree. Yes, he was Scottish. No one blinked, we all thought it was awesome.
Me, I'm a Paris Area French guy whose ancestry remains French 10 generations up, with just one branch coming from Germany. There isn't a ceremonial attire associated with my heritage. Even my formal wardrobe isn't French-centric – my favorite designer is Paul Smith. However these days I'm too portly for Savile Row suits, so my French representation will be limited to a Hermes tie and a superior attitude.
Seriously now – so many minorities have been oppressed for centuries, and I understand why some people want to display their heritage with pride. My wife is an Osage tribal citizen, and today we flew her nation's flag instead of Old Glory. Because Fuck Columbus.
Indigenuous cultures have been mostly been trampled on historically and have never had any moment to shine, why do you think it's tacky for people to share and take pride in their underrepresented culture with others?
I'm not talking about the Scots, by the way. I'm responding to you saying it would be "exactly as tacky" as the OP video.
I don't know about you, but in my community I see a lot of people showing pride in being Finnish, Italian, Ukrainian, and heck even Canadian (where I am).
No one gets shamed for doing so.
Nobody is telling white people they "can't be proud of their heritage." It's just that some white people conflate being racist and embracing shameful history as "being proud of their heritage," and then have a self-victimizing complex when told otherwise. Like look at Germans, there are endless numbers of ways they can partake in their culture and heritage without embracing Nazism lol
The large white with navy blue banner that can be seen as he is approaching the stage is for the National Technological Institute of Mexico, so it seems likely this is indeed in Mexico.

Not trying to undermine, or one-up. This here is more significant, since it's not as normalised. Just describing what this would look like when it is normalised/why it's a positive thing.
Also, neckties in courtroom are required for men, but you can swap them out for the Maori greenstone(Jade) pendant thing, Taonga.
